Cool to hear JR give Lita her due. Everybody loved Trish but I was always a Lita fan. I know the company honored her in later years but her exit from the company was sad and tasteless. The whole Matt and Edge thing was awkward and should have never been made an angle.
I was eleven years old when this PPV took place, I remember feeling upset and very uncomfortable watching my favorite commentator being bullied and physically assaulted by Tazz. I knew it wasn't real, but I found JR. so likeable It was just hard for my eleven year old self to watch. I guess the story was effective from that point of view.
Still don't understand why they did three triple threat tag team ladder matches with the same three teams in one year and Edge & Christian won every single time. I get it, they were a great ream, but really, all three? What was going on in that writing room?
mocking JR and all those shenanigans regarding toilet bowl humor just shows what kind of human beings Vince, Kevin D, and that carnival barker Bruce really are...sick individuals
I loved Austin but when people say he was more over than Hogan, it's laughable. For a start, without Hogan in the 80's, then in 96, you don't have a wrestling boom to be able to make money. Secondly, they had no proper way of keeping track of Hogans merch sales in the 80's, as it was choas, so we'll never know the real figures. Finally, in Austin's era, there are literally millions more tv's, ppv capability, higher pricing and even the early web.
Steven Irons The reason wwe can command the right fees they have is due to the Attitude Era, Austin was the face of the attitude era. Those he worked with from taker, Foley, Rock through Jericho and Angle became huge stars and draws in their own right. Who outside Savage became huge stars in their own right after working with Hogan. What kind of rights fees did WWF command After Hogan bailed in 93 ?
Without Superstar Billy Graham you don't have a Hulk Hogan. So I guess by your logic Superstar Billy Graham was more over than Hogan. How ridiculous! Hogan also had a resurgence in the 90s with WCW at the same time as Austin's run in the WWF and Austin was still more over. Hogan had access to just as many tv's, ppv capability etc as Austin. So the only laughable thing here is your argument
This isn't a criticism because everybody makes mistakes, but Conrad's flub about Molly going on to become a HOFer really got me because she's been in my "overdue for the HOF" list for years now...
That blm comment didnt age well. Considering the vast corruption in the organization. Oh, and the fact that the guy died from a Fentanyl overdose, not the police action... not that im a fan of them either.
Did these guys seriously not even mention Kane being unmasked for the first time!???? As a kid watching at the time, that was maybe the most significant moment from that show (other than maybe the TLC match). You could clearly see his face for the first time, and definitively knew he wasn't burned. Of course JR and the King didn't acknowledge it during the match because it would have killed his gimmick. We had to wait several more years before that would happen.
It was a little bit more interesting because Kane got busted open pretty badly too. There's that spot where he attempts to ram the steps into Undertaker, but the steps legitimately bounced off the ring post and hit him in the face.
We can actually go all the way back to No Mercy 99 with the Hardys vs Edge & Christian in a ladder match as the genesis of the whole TLC thing that will involve the Dudleys.
TLC stands for Tables, Ladders and Chairs. How can WM2000 be pt 1 when it didn't involve any chairs. No Mercy 99 didn't involve any tables or chairs. So while they definitely can be looked at as the precursors to the the TLC they are not actually a TLC.
I dont get people who turn on someone over politics. how pathetic can you be man? Ive know Vince McMahon is a Republican and so is the undertaker he always wears blue lives matter and 9 line shirts. I still like those guys I'm not going to hate them or their work all of a sudden because I disagree with them politically.
My earliest wrestling memory is watching this PPV. Looking forward to this one!
GSP Video Almost the same for me at SummerSlam 2001! I had just turned 5 and remember seeing Austin and Angle fight
I have learned so much from these podcasts.
I look back at those shows later on after this podcast.
Has it really been 20 years?! man where'd the time go . . .
We all got old. Shame Wacky weird entertainment isn't any good. Still got AEW though.
@LOVE & N P C oasiss
@LOVE & N P C why did you stop there?
@LOVE & N P C ok I understand.
I was 10 years old, the world was so simple and sublime
1:29:44 is when they actually start the damn PPV
Thanks player 👍💯
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️👍👍👍👍👍
WWF in summer of 2000 was so hot it was ridiculous. Every week raw and smackdown were off the hook!
I still have this VHS somewhere. Watched it time and time again. What a ppv. 👏
One of my favourite Summerslams ever 🙌🏻
I love JR. Top 2 commentator of all time and he ain’t 2.
Well said
He so funny jr is

Then don’t cheat
Pre ordered a PS2 at this point. The wait was on!
Great interview guys.
I lived near this event. Was so sad I couldn’t make it. My mom worked at the nearby hotel and met the rock. I was too jealous.

Can't wait!!
Stephanie on your Summerslam poster looks a lot more like modern day Steph than 2000 Steph!
I’m 23 mins in and I’ve had I swear 7 ads already, cmon guys
Interviewer: “So Jr how many Hall of Famers have you signed?”
JR: “All of them”.
49:54 what you sparkin up, JR?
Mary Jew wanna
I wish they would have a show about Wrestlemania 30 or 31.
Nothing after 2001 shouldn't be talked about
How the fuck did we go from this, to what WWE has became & whatever garbage they’re doing in AEW?!?!
I know STRAIGHT UP!!!

I get it, they were a great ream, but really, all three? What was going on in that writing room?
Those same 3 teams were involved in like the first 3 or 4 of TLC matches.
mocking JR and all those shenanigans regarding toilet bowl humor just shows what kind of human beings Vince, Kevin D, and that carnival barker Bruce really are...sick individuals
Interviewer: “So JR do you know who signed Bruno and Hulk Hogan to WWE?”
JR: “well I did”

He’s more over than hogan
Not even close
Go look at Backlash 2000, that pop is legandary. Hogan got booed at the rumble 92, that would never happen to Austin

NC for the win!

22+ man it's crazy how fast time passes.
Time doesn’t care about any of us. I was almost 7 years old.

Jr is a good little liberal and always wants to make sure he tots the party line.
Someone needs to tell JR…being 6’8”-6’9” is not “close to 7’”. It’s at best a quart foot away from being 7’.

Terri runnels vs Kat in a thong stink face match. Better than today's crap with wwe. My favourite ladies match.
I would definitely do the job for those ladies
I would have no problem putting them over lol
》than the fiend vs stroman 5 days ago
Good ole' days
Thong stinkface match... That's pretty funny
Great show, a classic SummerSlam. But I disagree, yes in name this is TLC 1 but Wrestlemania 2000 was pt 1 imo
We can actually go all the way back to No Mercy 99 with the Hardys vs Edge & Christian in a ladder match as the genesis of the whole TLC thing that will involve the Dudleys.
@@StephOMacRules very true but that match didn't have the Dudley boys. But yes it was the beginning of that era of TLC

Did Conrad mean that Rock gave spinbuster to Stephanie not Angle? And who hit Angle with the belt? Really confused here...
I hope jr gets mopre tel;emarketer calls lol;
Commercial every 7 seconds.
Chyna looks the best she ever did here. RIP Joanie & Eddie.
They should've used Right to Censor to revitalize D-X. Turn X-Pac and Road Dogg into tweeners. They're too edgy to be super baby faced.
I think all 3 teams made out very well after the matches
Must be nice being from Whitesville, Oklahoma and not living in the real world.
Is this a watch along?

Quite frankly
Is this more JR whining about Covid and lecturing people to do all of the things that didn’t work? I’ll pass…stick to wrestling and BBQ.
H
The poster looks sick
Is this a rendition of Pirates of the Caribbean? I believe that came out in 2003? Just curious. It’s badass.
