You are not a self proclaimed master but in my opinion you are a master of your triad and your teachings are both easy to fallow and more importantly easy to understand! Thank you for everything your doing for the community here on RUclips I hope one day to make a class if I booed be so lucky but even if I never do you have already thought me so much, thank you again for everything!!! 🍵cheers🍶
A very nice and interesting video, as always. One thing I'd like to suggest: I think it would be very nice to have a "before and after" picture of the tree at the end of the video, to recapitulate what has been done and how it changed the tree.
Thankyou so much for giving us this information for free. I have recently found a love for botany in general and I love the ides of having a bonsai! Keep up the great work!
@@lordfluffybuns3962 starting a bonsai is a great idea. however, starting one in the summer may not be the best. it all depends on the species of tree and the way you intend to start one with (growing from seeds or cutting, using nursery stock ect. ). i started training a spruce just after xmas this year and it seems to be doing well. this is a very good channel to help you get started, and there are many other good ones too. but the best advice i have ever been given is this. don't forget to water.
@@rietzhu I did say it depends on species and the way you intend to start. To clarify, Starting from seed mostly best in spring, Starting from cutting mostly has to be done in Summer Starting from nursery stock can be done in Summer, but major work (pruning, repotting etc.)is best done in early spring. If you know differently please let me know as like most bonsai enthusiasts, I'm always looking to learn.
I’m going to be that guy you mentioned. Removing that left branch would have created asymmetry in the design which would have created a lot more interest in the tree. The balance could have been compensated for by bringing the upper foliage down a bit and replanting the tree to the left of the pot. This would have made the tree less symmetrical and therefore more interesting as well as removing the handle bar effect.
Thank you again Peter, the narration of the thought process is very valuable. Also leaving that branch will probably build the bottom of the trunk a bit more to give it some more taper so the tree won't look like a coil spring. It can be removed in the future.
Your videos are very helpful. I just received my first bonsai as a gift and am unsure what to do with it. By explaining your thought process, you have given me some inspiration. Thank you.
So humble, just love your videos.Today, even though it's Feb. went to my rooting bed dug up one of my boxwood cuttings and went to town with it ! I did get a little scared at some point but you inspire me. Thank you so much🇺🇸💖🇬🇧 fondly from N.Y.C.
You have succeeded in the objective of making Bonsai friendly! Tis because of your knowledgeable videos that I started bonsai nearly 2 years ago and now have over 70 trees. Keep up the fine work, good Sir!
Thanks for making bonsai accessible and friendly, this channel is the main reason im starting into bonsai as its removed a lot of the mystery for me...
Well.. understood that it was given a short time to design/reshape, however the design could be alittle bit more sophisticated and elegant . Wiring the branches, the foliage would do the work
I can't thank you enough for doing these videos. I'm quite fascinated with bonsai though for the life of me I haven't seen one in real life. Seen them in pictures and videos but never in real life. I've only ever seen how they are made and developed in this channel. Your videos are very helpful.
Like you said it's only a guild line it's what reflects you and if handle bar branches reflect you then they very much belong there I think it looks great keep the good material coming 👍
1:11 you do a pretty good job at that. next week at work i have a dying white dwarf pine and 2 dying junipers to dig up and replace. i had already planned on trying to save them just because. after binging on your videos this weekend i now want to try to transform them into bonsais if i am able to keep them alive. if I can't I still want to get into the art and your channel is effectively a guide on how to get started and how to maintain. so thanks for sharing
Peter Chan don't knob you down because Must Big time Master Bonsai don't give us small bonsai Artist a time a Day. You do take time for all bonsai artist. You are awesome Person and please take care
Thank you very much for your videos, I always enjoy them. One thing I am not understanding of your approach, is why is it relevant to decide which one is the "front" of the tree vs, the back...? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me as the notion of one side being the "front" is dependent on where the observer is located when he's looking at the tree. But that can change, in fact, it will always change as one in moving around etc...
Hey my brother don't underestimate yourself you're an amazing Bonsai it's in an artist are very talented person and I love you videos cuz exactly you make it understandable for everybody I've been doing it for 8 years but not everybody's got that time under the belt
Sorry for question not on topic. When you first make a bonsai, and make roots smaller and remove soil, do you have to remove all the soil and just leave roots before you put in bonsai pot. I mean, from when you first buy the tree from a store and prepare it to be a bonsai. Thanks.
Thanks for another great video! What's the purpose of removing the old bark? And is this a good practice on all Junipers, particularly Juniperus chinensis ‘Parsonii’?
I like juniper, but every time i work on them a few weeks later they end up dead, i don't root prun well i trim and even when i do thet still end up dead, any idea on why?
Master Chan. Wiseguys??? Where I'm from we call them smarta--es or know-it-alls who know NOTHING except how to complain and kibitz other peoples work who DO know what they're doing.
I gained courage to give my Juniper Bonsai a pruning thanks to this video. The tree looks better now. Thank you for your teachings.
“I know that I’m not the worlds greatest expert” never thought I’d hear Peter lie lol
So glad you got a lav mic for him. My only request now is a before and after shot at the end of the video. Love your work!

Thank you for your very encouraging feedback - but not so sure about 'Triad' ?

Well said. Even before/after side by side, as close as possible.

You ARE the world's greatest expert. Your trees are created so effortlessly.

Yes that was an option

Peter, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'd like to see a video on proper watering and fertilizing techniques for various bonsai varieties.

Just unrooted a juniper from the woods, very small. So many possibilities. Thank you!
that's one less wild juniper outside..

I have a question. I was thinking of working jin onto this boxwood I have do you think that it would go well?
That would be good, but as it is the customers tree - I will have to ask him first before doing it.
Love that tree and how you brought out its best.
Dear Mister i like your videos very much.

"You must be wondering why I'm standing next to a juniper..."
Wow amazing
omg you made the juniper look alive again
Somebody who teaches me one thing is a nice person, somebody who teaches me a lot is an expert.
Very nice work once again! Thanks for the video, I learn something in every video!
you can use a microphone dettacked from the camera, pinned to your vest or shirt for example
We are still experimenting with various positions of the lapel mike to see what works best. Thanks for feedback
Thank you very much for your videos.
You gave me the courage to attempt my blue juniper. It's still in the ground so if I screw up it will regrow.
Its really got quite a wow factor seeing the true art of bonsai.... Less is more; simply perfect ;()

Absolutely an excellent learning experience.Thank you.
....my man has awesome vision.
Only the greatest experts admit that they are not the greatest experts.
Thanks for another great video! What's the purpose of removing the old bark? And is this a good practice on all Junipers, particularly Juniperus chinensis ‘Parsonii’?
Junipers have lovely red coloured bark and by removing the old flaky bark off - you will see the new fesh red bark underneath.
loving the new audio
Still experimenting to get the best results. Watch out for our next video. Sound should be better than this one.
Please do a video on trident maples!
Why do you have to take the old bark off of the juniper?
Very nice
Question are there any junipers that can be kept inside on a window sill...
Cheers!
I think keeping the handle bar was a good idea.
I do not know how to speak English language, sir! , But aap aur apka plant mast hai
very beautiful
Was the trunk naturally that way or was it trained to wind?
Amazing what a pretty tree it turned out to be
How do you make drft wood out of trunk?
You’re the man!
Can you make Bonsai from Leyland Cypress?
What size wire did you use?
I like juniper, but every time i work on them a few weeks later they end up dead, i don't root prun well i trim and even when i do thet still end up dead, any idea on why?
I wonder what you are doing to kill the trees?

This is the Bob ross of trees
Как жалко, что нет русского перевода !
Спасибо за все Ваши работы и видео !!!
Domo, master
...and the apex?
Again please improve the microfone quality its so bad sorry. Still awesome Video 👍
its actually good quality but the sensitivity on the microphone is causing some frequency bumping, placement may have a factor in it aswell
man i like trees
