Setting the Rev Limiter on the MSD 6AL
The MSD Digital 6AL has a Rev Limiter function built in when you purchase it. The rev limiter can be used to ensure that your RPMs don't sky rocket when you miss a shift or are not paying attention. Don't forget to set this so that you do not harm your engine!

Should I change my factory spark plug gap bigger if I am running a MSD box?

In the MSD manual it recommends engines up to 10.5:1 compression use a gap between 0.050 and 0.060. Use it as a starting point until you get the best performance. Every application will be different. I started with 0.055 with my engine and had great results.

I have a problem with mine, when i start the engine the light blinks and it starts for a few seconds and cuts off. Is there something im missing or do i have to play with dials first ?

Dials are for RPM settings only. Is the only change you made adding the 6AL box? Was it ever running right with the box?

Love the content! I have a 69 Mach 1 as well. Dropping in a 390 and a close ratio toploader this winter. As I am running a factory Tach, will I have any issues with this MSD setup? Thanks 🙏

Thank you Big Mike! You will love that setup. That is the exact one that I have in my car which this MSD is installed on. I did have issues with my tachometer with the setup (390, 4 speed, Factory Tach). I ended up having to install MSD's tach adapter which I did a video on. It is linked below. Good luck with the car!

I am missing some here there is no markings around dial how do you know where to set it?

You should see a window or a missing piece in the dial that reveals the number behind it. Is that there?

No. It will work with many engines and many distributors.
