There was a group on yahoo yrs ago that were into babington burners! They convinced me so i built 3 or 4! All worked 2 worked really well! They used about 30 psi and used oil even bacon grease! Anything pretty much! Its a simple concept really and a small compressor works fine and the oil is free so screw all the haters!
Its hot but its also burning dirty as hell! You need more air coming in behind your nozzle tip! I would try drilling some holes around the big part of the outside cover! I would start with 3/8” ! This from a guy who built 4 or 5 similar burners called babington burners! They use compressed air going thru a brass doorknob with a .030 hole. The oil trickles down over the hole and gets atomized! I had 2 that burned tru blue and got white hot using any kind of waste oil similar to yours even bacon grease will work!
This is one wicked hairdryer
🤣
😅😅😅😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Great video and no crappy music to distract.
If I ever build a forge, I will use this concept as the heat source. Well done.
Mee too
@@SekAustria😅
I've got a forge for smelting aluminum, brass and copper but I currently use propane for fuel, I really should build one of these to run it instead. This might just be my next project.
very nice fuel to noise convertor!
Wow, Im surprised at how fast it melted that copper! Awesome project
Congratulations. at 5:30 you made a basic fuel injector. at the 7:30 mark, I'm thinking you would have had better results from using a longer 1/2" diamiter pipe and threaded it thru the improvised burn chamber to form the shape. Gives you a better reference point for a round exhaust port. As per that starting ignition issue, you are making something you need to preheat to get started. Kudos just the same for a crafty build.
Great job. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hello my friend, yesterday I came to my mind as a follower from Algeria
Thanks and welcome
This is a very great idea,i tried it and it works perfectly,i'm gonna modify it to make it
more powerful
Genius son, great job.
Video is extremely well done! Nice project!
Thank you very much!
Nice! That could come in handy in my shop. I may have to make one for myself. Great video!
Go for it!
That was awesome. Great job.
well done mate, I will have a go at making this
Thank you for the excellent video. I had a failed attempt with a true Venturi design and reviewed your video today. I did some experimentation with all parts dry fit. I tested the optimal depth to produce maximum vacuum re: air gun tip depth. Yours is cut off flush with the air chuck. I tested this flush and also recessed. As long as the tip of air nozzle is in a uniform portion of the 1/4 inch air chuck, deeper appears to be much better. There is improvement on liquid volume uptake and discharge and a significant reduction in air volume needed to produce that same liquid volume. The more flush, the finer the aerosol is. But liquid volume is much lower at a given air pressure. My point: have you tried both flush cut and also recessed?? I have not fired the system, only using water as the analog. With liquid valve tuning I think the recessed tip (like 1/8-3/16 inch) may offer a wide tuning band for both air and liquid due to the huge vacuum signal generated. I’m excited to complete the system, following your template. Many many thanks. And BTW: it really sips air. With a 40 gallon tank it is almost a tiny leak worth of airflow to generate a massive liquid output Exceptional work Sir.
Not to hijack this guys work but when I built my babbington burners the hole required to atomize the fuel was 30 to 40 thousands of an inch as opposed to this design which is much bigger! Babbinton burners dont mix the fuel with the air the same way. This design mixes fuel with the air then it is ignited. In a Babbington burner the fuel trickles down over a brass doorknob (ball) with the 30 / 40 thou. Hole drilled into the front of the doorknob. The air goes into the doorknob and is not mixed with the fuel as the point of ignition is right after the ball! The fuel runs down over the front of the ball where the small diameter hole is and the xcess fuel runs into a sump where it is pumped back up to a container then gravity fed down over the ball again to repeat the process! Or you can not pump it so that when the fuel runs out the burner goes out! A needle or 1/4 turn valve is used to control the flow of fuel as well as a valve to also control the air! They only need a small compressor to feed about 30 to 40 psi. An airbrush or in my case a used refrigerator compressor worked great! They burn any kind of fuel cept gasoline and burn blue once the air/ fuel mixture is dialed in! There is no smoke if they are tuned correctly suggesting a mostly complete 100% combustion! Mine really worked well and I actually built 3! One guy in the group I was in built a really nice one out of all stainless steel and used it to heat his house! Most used them as shop heaters and the like by shooting it thru a long like 4in steel pipe with a 90deg bend straight up for a vent to the outside! The actual burner being outside the shop or whatever and the 4” pipe going along the inside wall of the shop then up so it could vent! They burn very clean but a vent is still necessary for the carbon monoxide produced! In fact when mine got hot there was virtually no smell at all!
I think the fine mist created this way is more important, otherwise the droplets may not fully burn and cause a dirty flame full of soot.
@@TDG2654 but they dont! You get almost 100% atomization! You can tell by the color of the flame! Blue then white and you have no soot! A lot of it is how well you build the thing too including what tools you have to work with! If you have access to a metal lathe and can tig weld etc…it will go a long way towards your final product! I did not but still managed to build at least one that would burn white hot using atf (transmission fluid) just what I had laying around at the time!
This would be perfect to run a forge
Good work...
You can add coil fuel pipe at the cone, make more heat for the fuel. I think fire color will come blue.
I was thinking that myself!
nice build broo
will try it soon in the metal foundry
@@SekAustriawhy'd you just start speaking tongues?
Be good for a kiln maybe. Too bad you need power for an air compressor. Also, I can tell that it is loud. Very nice build though!
Nice! Good work!
Thanks!
Very well done!☘️👍
Thank you! Cheers!
great work !!!!!!!!!!!!!
great job!
Its like a tutorial on how to burn unwanted tires xD
Fantastic work, dude! Really well done!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks! You too!
Insane!
Put a thick steel plate about 25mm in front of the nozzle, with a 6mm hole directly in front of the nozzle. With a couple rings of 3-4mm even 5-6mm, holes. Heat it with the torch, first until red, then start the air and fuel, and ignite from the rear, with the plate 3-6mm thick, welded to the inside of the can/ combustor. The hot grid will straighten incoming air also holding heat. To keep the fuel ignited, the remaining metal in the plate should be 1.5mm thick or not thicker than 2mm, so a 3mm hole should be no more than 5mm on center a 6mm should 7.5mm to 8mm on center, a 5 mm hole, 6mm on center, (center to center of two holes) forming a ring around a 6-8mm hole it will greatly improve performance of the burner!!! ✌️
You taught it very well. I was looking for a tutorial like this, which explains the complete parts needed and how to make it step by step so that I can fully understand. I want to use this as a forging furnace and smelting aluminum. Thank you very much for your video.💥❤
You'll end up fouling your metal unless you have a closed top crucible, any metal melted from waste oil will result in a brittle cast that forms cracks easily and has no tensile strength, best just to stick to LPG.
@@alexanderwoolley1623 thank❤
this is so cool
Hold grinder to blow sparks the other direction to mitigate risk of binding
very cool
This is absolutely awesome!! I love what you have done here. I a, going to try my very best to replicate your work for my metal foundry.Thank you.
But don't forget to just buy a dozen air compressors to provide large quantities of compressed air
@@dimmer4955 At least a baker's dozen...
I have a 7 Hp 300 gallon compressor/tank in my shop that I bought from a body and panel repair shop that closed over the Plandemic.
@@johnkoury1116Really, it's a good thing. But there is one small trifle: you need to calculate the cost of electricity and equipment depreciation to produce heat from this gizmo.
@@dimmer4955 except it doesnt take a large quantity of air! A small compressor is all you need maybe 30psi.! I used a compressor out of an old refrigerator! Those are a dime dozen too! I can tell you have never built one of these so maybe go educate yourself a bit before tearing down something you have no idea what you are talking about!
amazing well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice 🔥
Very good thankyou 👍
Welcome 👍
Esta Brigido loco!!
Wow👏👏👏
If you had that jet oil burner firing on one side of a galvanized heat ducting and venting to the outside at the end you could have yourself a waste oil jet heater to heat a building with nothing more than the waste oil from anybody who brings it to you.
How many years ago when I was much younger, one of those quick slash instant oil change places I had that set up and it saved tons of money Heating in the winter here in minnesota... between the 43rd and 49th parallel north lines.
Excellent.
Many thanks!
Wooooowsome!!!!!!
Love from pakistan great video
So many complaints from others about the air compressor this uses!
Building a turbine to provide airflow like a jet engine is no easy job. A pulse jet design with a diesel fuel injector might work, but you’ll still probably need propane (LNG) to bring it up to oil combustion temperature, and maybe compressed air as well. Those pulse jet engines are LOUD, and definitely not for indoor use!
I like the simplicity of what you’ve built, and wouldn’t change it. It does what it needs to do, at low cost, and isn’t likely fail in disastrous ways.
Ótimo 👍👍👍👍👍
Firing up the ole Barbe, grab the hot dogs.
the music i was listening to dropped at 10:05 and it went really hard
Amazing piece of work u done there sir👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Hot stuff 🔥
big like❤
I do that to. If you can’t weld, grind.
So good ii boss 👍👍😊
Thank you 😋
Berawo 😮👌
What a cool way to get rid of used oil!
Good job🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤ 11:14
Im thinking of heating a poultry shed with this heater. Can somwone please tell me how much oil would this use per hour.? Thanks in advance.
Id Use that to heat water, use an aftermarket catalytic converter on the smoke stack some perfect distance.
The only thing is where i am you can only use a real one. $1500 +
So you had an air compressor under the table?
If your burner is tuned correctly it should burn blue! No yellow what so ever!
That will surely good.
How hot does it get? Hot enough to heat a furnace?
Nice job 👍 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice man! Does it also work well with cooking oil? How much air does it need? How often does the air compressor turn on?
Really well done!!
Yes i think any kind of oil will work!
You can use maybe minimum of 10 psi
@@SekAustria I think at least 10 times more. And minimum 300 L\min komressor needed.
You can pressurize the fule tank to reduce the air requirements also.
"foundry" factory is cool )💪
Yeah
So the air flow around the oil tube siphons it? Does this give it and atomizing affect also
Yes it works like a spray gun.
Cool👍, but to small whole You made, may be only cutting the bottom of the balloon will be enough.
Probably a better example of a rocket rather than a jet...
Im thinking that i may want to build this myself for my furnace but i was just wondering if there is anything keeping the air from flowing into the oil reservoir? Love the video.
Basically made a Venturi valve
The venturi effect pulls from the oil container. So the air keeps the air out of the oil.
Do you mean as a heater to your workshop? Not a good idea because it has a scent of burnt oil
That was fucking sick
VERY VERY GOOD WORK MAN VERY GOOD 😮😮WORK 😮😊
This is real close to how a jet engine works. If you add some fins it probably would be...
Awesome! Way out of my capability and know how - would it ever reach at temp which would melt the steel cone?
I dont have an idea about steel cone bro
I would try to find something about schedule 40 to fabricate the cone.

Homie you had your tap way too tight in your drill.. it should be able to free spin when it binds so the threads stay the same consistent pitch
What air pressure are you using?
How fast does this burn through a gallon of fuel?
What kind of other fuel can you use ?????
I only use used oil. You can try diesel
How long does the fire extinguisher nozzle last? I’d like to use this concept to build a forge for knife making. Being a DIYer, I have over 20 gallons of used motor oil, tranny fluid etc. great video!
This might work but the output is to high for that use. Maybe driplone oil into a closure with a blower.
This is a small one but they burn gallons per hour
@@sparksmcgee6641Thanks for the info!
Great concept! What's the idea behind this? Heating? I wonder if it's worth it? The cost of oil plus the cost of the air compressor creating the air.
For melting metal forge, and it doesnt consume too much air, i think its worth it
@@SekAustria I gotcha
These burn waste oil of any type and can have a huge btu output for melting.
I dont have calculations, but will depend on your needs. In my case im using it to my metal melting forge and its not that eats a lot of oil, id say it will consume 1/2liter of oil melting an aluminum with my crucible full.
👍
That wont run on waste oil not diy anyway. It will maybe if filtered and heated to 70-90C, and this complicates things a lot.
What did you run it with, in this test?
Waste oil
i was looking for a way to heat my apartment but i dont think this is the right fit for me lol
