- In this episode of Racing on the Job, go behind the scenes with our hauler drivers and learn more about what it takes to get our race cars to the track 38 weeks out of the year.
I’m a trucker and see these guys around. They got some nice rigs. EXPENSIVE!
no homo
Noice
nice trailers you mean, the rigs they all drive are aero SHIT
BLUESROCKBBQ AND HOT ROD SHOP. That’s what I was thinking, dirt track guys have nicer equipment than these trucks
BLUESROCKBBQ AND HOT ROD SHOP. At least they have a manual
I saw the title of the video and thought it was going to be about how the teams truck drivers sometimes race each other on the highway or something.
me to..lol
homecyber32283 me too lmfaooo
@@NsXy m glad i wasnt the only one i was feelin goofy ther for a minute😅
Wouldn’t be surprised if they did do that
lol I thought the same thing, though I was expecting to see video of the haulers getting caught racing on the job.
This was my dream job when I was younger. One of the reasons I got my CDL and started driving.
Got my A&P (Airframe&Powerplant) license because i was told aircraft mechanics often were hired as pit crew or team mechanics... not an easy opening to come across. Or get someones attention for.
Me too
I've been driving for almost 25 years, flawless record other than an overweight violation. This would be my dream job. Beautiful equipment, always an experience, and always a challenge. Hats off to all the drivers that got the opportunity to do this for a living. To a driver, this would be our version of winning the lottery. I live about 2 miles from the Ky speedway, watching these rigs coming in is always a treat, whether its nascar or indy cars coming into town, it's an amazing sight.
I am an over-the-road veteran truck driver......and, i want to say, my brothers here have my respect! I too am a HUGE Nascar FAN!
Four of our truck drivers are veterans as well!
@@JoeGibbsRacingTV While watching the video, before reading comments, I thought the 4 guys in the middle at the end must be veterans. All 4 were standing at some form of parade rest.
Though I took papa smurf's comment to mean he was an OTR veteran, not a military veteran.
When I was younger I once saw a very strange M&Ms semi truck at a rest stop. Looking back it had to be the M&Ms NASCAR truck. Must have been on it's way, or from Watkin Glen.
It is truly a treat to see one of these beautiful rigs on the road. Even if it is a driver that you are not a fan of.
Driving for 6 years. Owner Op is my goal but seeing these guys since I was a little boy is What I always wanted to be
love when the haulers are making their way to NH from NC and back to NC from NH when the race is over they end up going through my area of NY. Me and the wife end up sitting at a rest area on the interstate in our county and watch them go by at night. yeah cant wait to go to the 1st race for Pocono.
i was working at midas one time in columbus ohio .. in grove city and kyle pettys hauler pulled up , with a broken exhaust on the stack . to be fixed i fixed it and i was a fan of petty and pontiac and hot wheels , and told the driver no charge . he gave the hole shop hats and shirts for our help ,, it was fun also with all the people taking picks .. good times
Hmm! Yes that's right amazing video. I can say that I've seen alot of these haulers criss crossing the big road when I was running the road. I saw Dale Sr. haulers once at the T/A truckstop back in day in Greensboro. During the same period I was to down to Florida when I had a convoy running to Daytona. Those were some good memories. #keepontruckin 👍
Their words make me feel more fortunate to live so close to a Speedway.
The Black Hole Guy TMS
I'm 20 minutes from IMS. How those guys can get those huge vehicles into and out of tight places like Richmond or Bristol amazes me. There's more room inside IMS!
yeah
I’m 5 min from One
@Draped Up& DrippedI work there on race weekends for SMI Properties plus I live in Los Angeles about an hours drive from Fontana...
On my way to Bristol last August I had just left JGR when the haulers was starting to pull out. I followed Kyle’s and Denny’s until I got off on the exit for KBM. Really a once and a lifetime experience
Justin Haas Had something similar happen on a trip from Arkansas to Roanoke, VA. Was amongst a group of about 6 down I-40 for a good piece. Really neat. Would have to look back through my photos to remember which ones, but I do remember the #2 (Keselowski at the time?).
Damian Thielemier that sounds really awesome. I just never would think I would see the trucks right next to me on the road that I just saw in the shop 20 minutes ago
To be honest, I would have much rather visited one of the shops. I bet they’re insanely cool to see.
Damian Thielemier I’ve seen JGR/Hendrick/Penske/Roush/Petty all are unique to its own. Penske is cool because you can walk over all the cars and sometimes you see the crew working on it before heading out
I clicked because the title made it sound like the teem truck drivers sometimes race each other on the way to races... not at all what I was expecting to watch...
Lol. Not be much of a race. All em Freightshakers have restrictor plates on em. 😂🤣
IDIOT
There's nothing like being a hauler driver. I realize that I am one lucky person to be in the position I am in and there is nothing else I would want to do in life.
Who do you drive for?

@@smackoholick if your ever at the track come look me up. I'll give you a grand tour. Im the one with the bright red goatee. Cant miss me. Lmao
@@davidedwards2607 hell yea
I saw one dale Sr’s rigs on the 417 in Ottawa, Canada a long time ago, heading to a wind tunnel, back before phones took pics, was freaking out.
From my experience when I was driving otr most people don't get to see a hauler because they pass by like they're running the Daytona 500 them boys hammer down by the time you hear them coming up behind you they're out of sight 😂😂
NOT TRUE!! We obey the speed limits
This is a fact.
I've been stuck behind them at fuel islands and the streakin beacon before. Some of them apparently don't know how long they are.
Thanks For Video. Those Who Work Behind The Scenes Make Show Happen.
Very true
I been driving OTR for thirty three years. This is been my dream since I was a teenager. Still like to drive a Nascar car hauler. Love to drive for Joe Gibbs!
Amen
God bless you all each and every season from a professional truck driver. Thank you for all you do.
Driver I would do the same thing for a job or any person.. You guys keep keeping it tight keep a clean keep it safe.
I'm a truck driver and all truck drivers are still under paid and under appreciated 🙏🏽💯 stay safe all my fellow drivers out there.
10yr over the road professional. That's right let's do it right? Let's help the new drivers. We need to stay old school. Let's not keep our butts in the sea and get out and help somebody. Who might be struggling that night trying to back into a tight spot. Keep it safe professionals. I'm string bean and I'm 1010 on the side I got your 6..
Thank You for taking the time to make this vedio possible truckers.
Hope they get top dollar for all that they do,just think, the drivers & crew are on a jet headed home after the race & these hauler drivers job is still not over, great job men!
More then just driving to the track. Cooking running around getting this getting that. I drove a hauler for 2 years for a NASCAR team. Drove for an Indy team. But by far the best is Hauling the 50’ Mystic offshore race boat. Cintron offshore racing. Won the World Championship twice. In Extreme class. That by far was the best job.
In my job I know the night is drawing to an end when the haulers start letting out in Richmond. It’s always cool to see, better than the flyover.
I'm an otr driver running dry van. It's hard enough as it is. I can only imagine running this expensive equipment coast. Can't be late. Can't stop and take a nap all the time. Gotta run hard. No idea how they do it but pretty cool to see them out here here on the road. Pretty surprised they're only advertising about the same amount of pay to haul dry freight around, but must be pretty cool to haul the cars that are on tv every year. Definitely a tough ball game out here and no doubt you guys got it tougher for standard pay. Hats off
I passed Daytona once when they were all pulling out & was riding with them all on I95. I liked the Nes Quik one the best.
Just ran across this video today....looking good Chris! Love these types of videos.
I slipped in between a couple of haulers leaving Kansas Speedway. Talk about a sweet ride, we were hauling ass through Kansas City. Don’t now if they enjoyed having me, but I enjoyed the ride.
Growing up in the Carolinas, you saw haulers pretty often just like seeing one of those Swift Trucks or a TMC truck on the roads but it was still cool to see, especially if you didn't have the money to actually go to a race...
Orange Home Depot Tractor trailer toy got me into racing as a kid no lie. Saw it and got the entire fleet once I learned more lol man I miss that truck 💪🏾
The unsung heroes. I’m not about to forget the shop & pit crew. Oh and people in the office. Team work from top to bottom makes them a family. That’s what makes any enterprise really click.
I'm one of the people who watch on tv hopefully i might get to watch a race at texas for my graduation present my mom and grandfather wants to take me
It's better on TV for a multitude of reasons. Just a few are cost, time invested, food, restrooms, replays, commentators and the list goes on. The only thing you don't get is the sound and that's not really a big deal anyway.
@@stuwest3653 dude so much better in real life nascar on tv boring as hell but live is awesome
@@kylecurtis2429 I live 10 miles from track and can get free tickets so I know what I prefer but thanks for your opinion.
My uncle exposed me to this 2 years ago and since then I’ve been to Texas track times and Daytona once and by the way Stewart haas racing is the best
Stu West disagree my man. Nothing like seeing it live. Television does racing absolutely no justice!
I was there in Martinsville I got all the rigs on video
Watching them drive out of Bristol dirt race was awesome
This is my dream job, I've seen them around while driving,
First, you get front row at pits
Second, you get paid for this😁,
Third, bunch of good friends at the end
Fourth, you get to watch for free all races
Can't get better than that
Just in case, I'm available, I'll do this for ever
I saw bubba Wallace’s truck because we were stuck in traffic for an hour and it was so cool
i was you guy east bound on i 10 i was west back when gorden was racing . it was some sight i have yet to forget.
I live along I-70 in Effingham Illinois I'll see the transports come through here some stop for fuel just like the NHRA guys it's nice to see these trucks wether it JGR OR Hendrick Motorsports
Doug Sharp I grew up in a suburb of Effingham called Sigel! Lol. A friends mom use to waitress at TA. When someone came in she recognized she’d call us up to stop in an say howdy.
Clint Hymes cool my girlfriends mom used to work at T/A many years ago I can never get to catch the transport trucks up close when they come in to Effingham. Always wanted to look inside the trailer lol
Clint Hymes plus NHRA trucks stop here as well
What you use in your trucks for ELD/Navigation system? Qualcomm, Rand McNally gps with Rand McNally ELD, Garmin gps with Garmin ELD, or Keep Trucking app
They're awesome on the highway. I've seen Tony Stewart's rig & John Force's also, on the 15fwy, heading to Vegas.
It is cool to see the haulers on the road
I won’t ever forget it when I saw Dale jr’s hauler at a truck stop near Charlotte, NC
I havnt been to a race YET and it was on the way to 2020 kansas playoff i seen kyles holler pass my little small town in ky and i was so excited
These guys are awesome.
Wow that is a dream job for sure. I Would love to go on a trip with one of the haulers. Pssst I have my class 1a.
I wold like to see the truck driver and the NASCAR driver.. same team.. trade seats .. that would be cool to see.
Unless it’s the 18. He’d bitch, and moan the first time he hit a bump in the road.
Lol I love the Fed Ex one lol
Me Too , I retired from FedEx 15 months ago with 39 yrs. of service .. Its a great place to work !!!
First class all the way for the Joe Gibbs hauler. Awesome all the way around.
The hoonigan semi truck cut me off in my city. I wasnt mad tho
Shout to Arizona, best sun sets in the west.
This is awesome! Keep these videos coming!
What do they do in Nov. Dec. And Jan. During the off season. Do they work in the shop when they are not out on the road
The unsung hero’s of nascar! Thank you for your sacrifice the countless miles driven safe! Offseason home with family but the mistress is still calling your name! Would be interesting to see what driver has the most safe driven miles without a accident? Look at UPS drivers some of the safest drivers on the road! Most people drive the road to get to n from work or a family vacation but these guys it’s their office n try to be courteous to them as well as all commercial drivers they are try to deliver ur food clothes toys as well as entertainment us! You get to go home n see the wife n kids every night most drivers are 6-7 days out! Myself 2.6 million miles accident free! I want to get home to my family but I also want u home safe with ur loved ones! Hammerdown boys n girls!🏁
Great job if you are OK with never being home
Offseason
A lot of truckers prefer being on the road
Ended up chatting with a guy in a bar one time, he and his wife have been on the road for 30 years and love every minute of it. It’s definitely not for everyone.
truckers are pretty much nomads during the season
Home every week, except for a few West Coast trips.
They do have the nicest trucks and trailers you could hope for.
So does Steelcase or Budweiser Hauling the Clydesdale horses ...
Hi my name is Jeff Shamoon and I was wondering if there might be a way where I could get my feet in that door ? I currently drive for Cash Trucking hailing a reffer. Nice truck you there thank for making the video to watch and God bless!
The real version of gtaV MOC-Mobile Operations Center
Been a semi driver is a tough work ...💪
I never knew that they made those newer Freightliner Casadias with a manual. And I can’t tell if that’s an 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, or 18-speed equipped in those haulers
The Unsung Heroes of NASCAR, I knew a "Tire Hauler", he hauled the combined racers tires! Not an unimportant job!!
Back in 03', We Drafted behind Jeff Gordans hauler from Talladega to ATL.
Shoulda spun it out
nice to see another side ... instead of a website dedicated to clicks & converts, maybe this type of content should be there
I want that job, must be insane
Heck yeah Joe Gibbs truck drivers get the top spots
Love those new Freightliners. Great choice JGR!!
Puke, need to be running classic hood trucks.
These guys are some hard workers and the drivers Rv drivers are too used to be a security guard at darlington
I just want to know how often they get pulled over for "DOT inspections" that's 100% not just to say they pulled over a NASCAR hauler.
This is the job that I always wanted! However I am no cook so that would disqualify me! Loved all of the trucks when they were running mostly Pete’s and KW900. At one time these trucks would carry the mail man!
I saw an 80’s nascar on a trailer. It was twin turboed by the owner
I haven’t been to a real nascar race. But I’ve seen some famous people race at my local track in Pensacola called Five Flags Speedway. I’ve seen Jeff Gordon, Danica Patrick, Joanna Long, Tony Stewart, Dale Jr, Jimmy Johnson, and Martin Truex race here. They’ve all competed in the Snowball Derby which is like the Daytona 500 for the short tracks. Joanna Long has won 2 of em and won one of them at 16. Jeff Gordon won one and Dale Jr won one.
They should spend more on their trucks. I have a W900 with a 160" sleeper and never ever hauled a race car.
Coppydoublelopp Kliem I think freightliner is a NASCAR sponsor. Still, they should atleast run Coronados instead of the ugly cascadia.
BrandonPryorMusic
It depends on the team what brand they use
the trip home can get really long if your team didn't have a good day. a truck driver gets a lot of middle finger salutes on the interstate too. thanks fans!
Ic sadly never seen a hauler in person and the only nascar vehicle iv seen is a bill elliot mcdonalds car in the New Oxford racecar museum, but in 2019 I did get to see Kyle Larson and retired nascar cup series Champion Tony Stewart in the same dirt race in PA.
I ment york race museum sorry
What I wouldn't give to drive for these guys! I would love to be a part of this team.
That's the. Job I want
No you don't, I do it with show horses that are worth more than those cars, millions of dollars for 1 horse, it's all team driving, truck never stops and you are never home it can be brutal more than it is easy.
Yeah definitely has to be a team truck no way that thing is gonna be sitting at the J to get plowed Into
Trust me this job is brutal!!! Worked in entertainment business hauling music,Broadway, etc home don’t exist and pay is shit 55-75k year
Doesn’t pay crap. You can probably make the same delivering pizzas.
Draped Up& Dripped if your single and want to feel like a rock star moved to Mooresville NC and start getting to know people!!! This job is who you know not what you know have friends that have worked for these teams!!
Way to go guys!
Cool video.
Did you guys ever have a hauler get in an accident on their way to or from a race?
It does make you wonder what the pay structure is like for race team haulers. Normal OTR truckers are paid by the mile. These guys obviously aren't working or at least not to the same capacity during the off season. Are they paid a retainer? Are they just straight salary? How does all of that work.
I can't help but have huge respect for all the hard working Blue Collar guys and gals out there who make everyday possible. Or in these gentleman's cases, making life a little more entertaining, one race at a time. May the road ahead be clear, dry and free of stupid drivers! o/
How does one become a hauler driver and how does one get in with a world of outlaws team or lucas oil late model team
I'll love to do that job
See them all the time going up/down I-81 to Pocono’s and Watkins Glen...back in the 80s and early 90s these guys were also responsible for carrying the pit crew and sometimes the driver as well and used to get police escorts in certain areas but with the expansion of tracks now teams have a bus or fly to the next track...these guys are driving trucks with over a million dollars worth of tools/equipment and trust me their speed is heavily monitored by tracking if they speed they will lose their job!
I would love to have that job to
Do you guys have driving restrictions here in Australia we can only drive for 12 hours per day ( in a 24 hour period)
Merica drivers can run 11 hours and be on duty (non driving - such as fueling, loading/unloading) for 14 hours before a mandatory 10 hour break.
Todd Amburn thanks cobba..in Australia if we are refueling or even washing we are classed as “drivingL
UK is 10 hours driving and 15 hours duty time, but double manned can be 20 driving only stopping to change drivers,...That's handy when there are European Grand Prix's on back to back weekends,....
My dad drives a swift truck and I have only seen the 52 of Stewart frisen I hope I said that right
I can't wait to get my CDL license after I graduate
As a truck drive here that job has tobe the worst job in the race team, first to leave the shop last to get back and when win a race everyone else on the plane partying having a great time and you're stuck in traffic.
I’ve been driving a go kart Since I was 3, I wasn’t on a race track or racing anyone but I was driving a off road go kart, Ive know how to drive a car scene I was 11, and now I’m 14 and driving a 600 horse power drag car, and I also do simulation racing on NASCAR heat, do you think I have a shot in NASCAR? And if I do, how do you think I should go about it, should I like, start emailing race teams in the NASCAR truck series about hot seats or something when I’m 16, or something else, I’ve been wanting to become a NASCAR driver my whole life, and I’m hoping to make that dream come true
Try 4 cylinder circle track bud. Good to move up the ranks
Can I see one comment section in my life without a GTA reference.....lol
Best drivers in Nascar
How does your logbook work with this? You running that BBQ is “working” therefore you need to be “on duty” right?
As a semi driver myself I was wondering the same thing. I'm surprised they aren't running older rigs to get out of ELDs.
Ben Devine I drive as well and I’m genuinely curious how that aspect of it works.
The Driver that is On Duty for the race does all the team responsibilities while his partner flies in the day of the race and is Off Duty until it is time to drive home. The fresh driver drives home and the driver that helped during the race flies home with the team. All of our drivers are on EDLs and have to stop at all weigh stations.
New to this. He said if a car wins, it's one less car on the hauler b/c it goes to NASCAR. Do they keep it or is it kept for post-inspection and they'll get it back?
They get it back after post race inspection
How many cars do they haul at once? Do they go back to headquarters to pickup different cars, or do they have those cars with them?
I beleive 2 one on top of another.. And all the equipment in front. Now if they wreck both cars idk what they do???
There's 2 cars that are above the bulk of the the trailer. The primary car and a back up
can we see more of this
they have the best job in trucking
Id die to drive for a race team.
So not only do you have to drive long hours but you also have to cook for the entire team..yeah fuck that
I saw the speedometer on sombody and it said 73! Haulin' ass
Eh, as a trucker, thats where our cruise is set, unless construction or a 55 mpn zone.
@@marcusjohnson7441 Well pardner, as a retired trucker, for over 40 years, with no chargable accidents, 73 mph is too fast. You really don't gain that much time in the long run. I'll get there about the same time you will driving the correct speed and be safer doing it. 73mph is why truckers get such a bad repitation from the public. That and tailgating.
@@carlslusser8541 he will get there 1 hour per 13 miles faster than you if you were doing 60. 312 miles and you are 24 hours behind
