    Probably the best debut album ever made. Every song is good. The founder of the band is Tom Scholz (The Lead Guitarist) who is a Toledo Ohio Area Native but he was an Engineering Student at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) when he formed the band. He used recording and mixing equipment he built himself to record the album. He also developed the earliest form of wireless microphones and amps. Scholz is an engineering genius.

  • @moonknight718
    @moonknight718 4 года назад +149

    Interesting fact: Boston didn't start off as an actual band. Tom Scholz recorded the entire first album by himself in his basement. He didn't put together a band until they needed to tour.

And unfortunately loss on an unimaginable scale from the Vietnam war. So much was going on with our 18 year old men being drafted to Vietnam. We protested the war, had sit-ins for peace. Can you imagine the emotions we were experiencing in the 60's and 70's. Our music explains it. God bless you. ♥️🙏

    You know, I've never heard anyone say a bad word about this song. No matter who you are, it just invites you in with a big friendly smile, and it's glorious. Brad Delp had such an astonishing voice and touched so many hearts with his singing. Sadly, he suffered from depression, and in 2007 he took his own life. Such a loss. Another thing: everyone who knew him said he was a great person: friendly, kind, gentle, down to earth, a regular guy and a great neighbor (for example, he helped people mow their lawns). When he died, the band's website said "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."

    Boston was something of a phenomenon when they appeared on the scene, the first album is widely regarded as one of the best debut rock albums of all time, written by Tom Scholz in his basement with Tom playing all the instruments, he recruited Brad Delp for his ridiculous voice and the rest is history. Do you mean only 3 albums with Brad Delp? They recorded 6 albums; the last 3 are: "Walk On", "Corporate America", and "Life, Love, and Hope". If you haven't heard it, "Walk On Medley" on the "Walk On" album is EPIC and a must listen for a "Boston" fan. I saw them perform it live in 2017 and it brought down the house!

    You gotta hear foreplay/longtime by Boston. BUT FIRST, you have to see Devin Townsend-Kingdom (live EMGTV) Your buddy Jamal aka jamel did it and within the first 15 second of audio he described it as being invited to a party where you have no idea what's its gonna be like but you end up having the BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE. That was before the amazing vocals kicked in. And just floored him

    Glad you're getting into Boston. Their first album is one of those rare albums where every track is amazing. I highly advise listening to "Foreplay/Long Time" for another great one.

    Foreplay/Longtime was composed by the guitarist (Tom Scholz) while he was working on his masters in engineering degree at MIT. The song was recorded in a studio he built himself in his basement apartment. Its just shy of 8 minutes of pure bliss. If you check it out, light one up, hell, make it 2 up, close your eyes, kick back and let it transcend you.
