After our amazing lobster dinner with the lobster we caught in Casco Bay on last week’s episode: • SO MUCH MONEY: THIS IS... , we left Jess’ mom’s house and headed to the lake house that our dear friends, Katie and Jeff, let us use when we are back home.
This trip to the lake house was so much fun as we have never been back to Maine in the summer since leaving, and the boats were in the water this time!
We threw Lily a big Sweet Sixteen party with friends and family, since we had been out West for her actual birthday and found out that Marc and Trish from Keep Your Daydream had to leave their campground in Connecticut because of a hurricane and decided to head up to the lake house to visit!
We love showing our home state to friends we have met on the road! Of course, we had to do a sunrise at Portland Headlight, and coffee and donuts are always a must! Trish really knows how to do coffee at sunrise! Tony’s Donuts and The Holy Donut were the perfect treat as we headed out to our favorite beach, Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine.
There was also some serious tubing invovled, and Caleb dared Corey to throw him off! 😂

Lake front. Saltwater, for me, has a limiting feel to it. River front is worrisome after 2011.

Thank you! Really hope you are able to get out to Maine SOMEDAY soon! We suggest coming in September and staying through the 1st week of October to catch the foliage and then following down the coast if you are RVing!

Finally got to watch this ep last night. We watch KYD also - on the same delay typically.... Easily, this was on of the funest vids from either of you in forever. It was captured on vid very well the joy you were having sharing your home town/sites. it was also interesting seeing the Leach family through a different lens. Great time all around.
We were at the same campground as Marc and Trish when we had to leave for the incoming hurricane. It was our first family camping trip in a rental RV. Now we have our own Reflection and go for our shake down trip in 2 weeks!!!

The way you all talk about Maine is the way I talk about Zion/Bryce NP. My family settled that whole area, we rarely take people into the parks because we want to show them the land and the places we love. It’s so much fun.

So I grew up in the east coast and I know about the heat and humidity, but now I live in Phoenix, AZ and there are those days in the dead of summer that it doesn’t get below 100 degrees! 🥵
So hot in the middle of the summer in the Phoenix area! That is the best part of this lifestyle, chasing 70 degrees! 😃

You have to make a big quick right turn, once the tube gets out, a quick left turn will launch them like 10’ in the air over the wake! :-) :-) :-)

We live close to the beach in Pensacola but now I really want to come explore the northern lakes this summer! Now Maine is definitely on my travel list!
Maine need to be on everyone’s list! I went to A school in the Navy in Pensacola and Jess was born there but she has never been back. So that is on our bucket list!😃

We were in Portland this past July. We love the light house and the surrounding Fort Williams park; it is so beautiful there. We loved Holy Donuts!

Reminds me of many days gone by, I went tubing like this at Lake Mojave in the Great American South West, it was so, so, much fun! Until the next day, when I couldn’t turn or move my head because I had gotten whiplash from the constant jarring of my head and neck when out tubing….
Great video as always I think my favorite thing in main is listening to the loon’s always what makes the trip special!

Wow! What a video! We're both so homesick for Maine now. It was incredible seeing that all our favorite spots are yours too:) Although we haven't yet done the sunrise at Fort Williams now we're definitely going to when we're there in July. But what REALLY made us laugh was your Higgins Beach clips. When you were parked there on Ocean Ave on one of those 1 hour parking spots (sure hope you didn't get ticketed) right in the background was our beach house on the corner. We both thought that was so funny and what a coincidence. I think you probably filmed that last July or August - we were there at Higgins during that time for sure. We're so glad Higgins is special to you both as it is to us and our family. NOW, as Mainers we have committed to trying Tony's Donuts - believe it or not we've never been there! (We always seem to head to Len Libby's for chocolates instead!) Safe Travels to you both:)
Oh wow, small world for sure. No tickets , we were there late august. A lot has changed over the years at Higgins (like most things) We’ve been going there every summer since the early 90s . Some family friends had a house on Vesper , she passed several years ago and the house has been torn down and rebuilt (like a lot of the property’s over the years) parking was never an issue, we used to park there . My parents would rent a house there every summer and that’s usually where we would spend 4th of July (grew up in Gorham) we used to make mini floats for the parade at the beach) I literally have countless memories at that beach community. I think Len Libby’s used to be closer, we would ride our bikes there. Hope you do make it for sunrise over to PHL , try a strawberry bizmark at Tonys and a crème horn from Bakers bench in Westbrook, it’s worth it.
@@FindingOurSomeday i know right? Our family place right there on Morning St has literally been in our family passed down since 1916. Higgins is known for that. We were there for the 4th of July parade this past year too:) Tony's is now officially on our list for June when we arrive. Hope your travels are safe! We'll probably run into each other at Higgins one of these years!:)
I am rewatching all of your Maine videos because we are going to try to go there the week of July 4th. I am writing down all the places! Love donuts and love seafood. Will try to to go to all the places you talk about! We are not planners so we are hoping it will work out in time! We have kids in travel sports so we want to travel when we don't have sports which does not happen often. I have wanted to go to Maine since I was little. I think it was from reading Sarah, Plain and Tall 🤣 I have watch all of you videos also KYD and Less Junk more Journey. I wish I would know full time camper living was a thing before my kids got so involved in sports! I am hoping someday we can do this! We will probably just have to wait for our kids to get done with school. They are 16, 14, 11.

I grew up on Little Sebago (up on the other end of the lake from where you were). Haven't been out across the lake in years as I keep my boat up on Long Lake these days, but it was nice to see that footage. I spent so much time at that sandbar as a kid! Hopefully one day the stars will align and I'll be able to buy a place on the lake.

Maine is so beautiful I was lucky enough to travel there a few years ago and I feel in love with your state was blessed to travel the ocean areas as well as your Lake District both were beautiful I would love to live there but being a native cal everyone says I could not handle the winter just beautiful thank you for sharing your beautiful state

Nothing like a little hurricane to make your connect with old friends. well, I went to the gas pump and almost had an old fashioned wicked coniption fit. Not sure your plans after Fla, but I'm heading up 65, to Oh, and at least my job is 6 months stationary. The cost to get home and do some videos om the way and such is... somewhat terrifying.... Saw this 6 months ago on KYD pretty much. And yes I don't care where you live in the lower 48 it gets hot. All you needed was Nate& Ris and it would have the three musketeers if my memory is right you all hook up in Alaska.
Yes! That is where we met both KYD and Less Junk, More Journey. We have a couple more episodes and we will be caught up to real time down here in Florida! Nathan and Marissa have been to the lake house before, they just weren't able to make it last fall!

You guys are so lucky to be from Maine. I've been a lot of places have not been there as of yet. But I've always wanted to go. Originally in the fall for the beautiful fall foliage. But summer looks so darn pretty I might have to change that. I'm originally from Co. And nobody thinks it gets hot in the summer there either. Believe me it gets hot even way up high in the mountains. The only difference is it's DRY heat 0 humidity. Which in my opinion is awesome. Since I live in fla. If I could afford it I would live in Co. In the summer where the rest of my family is. And FL the rest of the time. But yeah I always knew Maine was a gorgeous state and seeing these vlogs it's even more so than I could imagine😘 As always safe and happy travels💗

Cory you should get an air horn for your truck . A friend of mine in Raleigh , N Carolina told me about a 12 volt horn that is plug n play . It takes the place of the horn that came with a car or truck . Is Marc from KYD a fellow Veteran ?

When you hear “it’s such a small world” , I truly believe it is. I hazard to guess this was this past summer. We were actually in Portland around the time of the hurricane too. Camped in a family friends yard in Gotham. My wife’s parents lived in Portland in the 90’s. Did you all see the big yellow duck in the Belfast Harbor?
Makes me homesick for NH and ME. Not for mosquitos though.
