That feeling when you think John is wearing his signature G-Shock but upon zoom you realize it's the unobtainable Royal Oak Ceramic Perpetual Calendar....
What a difference a drummer with own intuition of how a song should go can change the feel. Quest is pulling and pushing a lot more than the usual steady beat, and really adds a different flavor. Makes it really fun to see John having to think on his feet instead of doing the same things he always does on this song. Totally different feeling middle solo, and not being able to end it with the riff in the same manor he usually does. This show will go over in John Mayer folklore for sure!
Very well done collaborating. Who ever wrote this is a real genius but the professional artistry is on point and up there with greats, might be a potential Hall of Fame candidate.
2 band members tested positive for COVID, so JM & band did a semi-acoustic set for most of the night. Quest jumped on for a few songs toward the end. Only in NYC. Wish I was there. Slow Dancing live NEVER gets old.
This performance of SDIABR is second only to the version from the WLTI concert, which is one of the greatest guitar performances of this century. Quote me anywhere.
@@JoelShoverPhotography thanks for sharing that link not just coz I heard the same as the other guy but I had no idea he did In the Blood, that was fantastic to listen to, thankyou again
On one hand, I love that technology allows us to capture moments like this where not only the one filming can look back at a memory as cool as this and feel that joy again, as well as upload it so others who may not have been able to see it live can also experience it, On another hand...just fucking EXPERIENCE it. Not holding a phone. With your eyes. Your ears. Your soul. You only get that ACTUAL moment once. Live it without your phone in your face.
really not a fan of his playing this year so far, he seems to be enjoying himself alot more, but hes playing like hes noodling at home as opposed to going all out creating something more profound
@@DOKITT I definitely agree. I’m not really a fan of this era, the new album, or the Silver Sky’s personally. But I’m starting to notice some cool things now.
The way he plays with the dead definitely influences how he plays now. Casual playing just finding what works. Never know until you try. But yea I'm not a huge fan myself
@Joel Shover are you going to every show??
Man, let's hope so.

very much has already
Well said !!
Absolutely true!
He is at the top of his art
We are getting used to this DRH intro by now. I ain't complaining.
It's like the boss music before the main final mission, a warning that something's ahead lmao
I John and DRH to make this version in the studio and put it on Apple Music
Like fine wine, just gets so much better as time continues to progress
Questlove on drums is a whole new ball game. And at MSG what even
Oh shoot, Quest Love on the drums. Lucky NYC
Wow this version is really on point. Thanks for posting.
Never gets friggin old ... legend JM!
That's one of the better ones he's done, I love them all but man that was up there with the one he did with Chris Stapleton
7:20 questlove looking for signals from pino and john and then proceeds to make the best beat skip
I've seen John Mayer twice now and he's started "Slow Dancing" the same way both times. He's so talented!
The Beautiful one, Slow Dancing ....nice combo
damn quest actually added some awesome dynamics to the song and should I say made it way better
Amazing.
Would love to see him playing with the great Mark Knopfler one day
Tons of life in the crowd! Love it!
This show was heaven
wow that solo was gorgeous and so good!!!
He sounds great, can’t wait to hear him in Charlotte
you did a good job man. great video, thank you.

That outro solo… is so good
Oh the geometry.
7:22 Pino & Quest were really happy about that one haha
Wow! Thanks for sharing!

Check out the Live on Letterman version! Thats my personal favourite, followed by the Rock in Rio!
@@danieljoshuacharles6084 Rock in Rio ending is untouchable, so many great versions but that's the one for me
Swear I just heard a girl scream "he's playing a guitar!" then "NAKED"

Is that Questlove on drums?
Yeah!
His drummer tested positive so Questlove last min filled in
@@itsiansu wow nice ;-) So cool, i like quest.
Quest wymiata, a oficjalnie przyszedł na koncert jako gość :D

he needs no speed to make a big beautiful song, that is his legacy
Other than all the styles, playing the Mayer gig is pretty easy. Getting the Mayer gig, on the other hand, is a completely different story.
D. R. H. That is all.
I was there and he stunned the crowd - amazing performance.
Anyone know the song David Ryan Harris was singing at the beginning?
Questlove on the clutch!
It wasn't until they zoomed in on John that I went, "Oh, shit... that's Quest on the drums!!!"
what row were you in? I have tickets for early march and want to get a feel of how close i'll be
Sec C Row 11
Pino with those glasses? Like a boss....
That lick at 7:12 😳
That’s magic
when him and chris stapleton did this song with that same beautiful intro..yessir
What is David Ryan Harris singing at the start? Is it a released song? Imagine having this guy as your number 2. Insane
the beautiful ones-prince
They started it in the 2019 tour Prince- Beautiful Ones
@@zacharysmith7672 They actually did it in 2017 I believe.
Such an epic performance. Do you also have Gravity from the encore?
Fantastic, but was I the only one distracted by JM's oversized 80's suit?
He sounds a lot like Clapton here
I’m presuming your referring to his playing?
@@bluesenthused7244 yes
Need Free Fallin and Daughters!!
Is it just me or lately his playing has cleaned up alot (less mistakes)
Yes, when he started studying/playing Jerry Garcia.

@@mitchellloy4861 so true. I love all styles but I don’t like hearing country licks in Slow Dancing.
