    It's crazy how much work went into making the silver sky as close to John's specifications as possible but it still can't replicate the strat sound. That sound is HIS tone

      The Silver Sky may be "too perfect" IMHO....to the point of being sterile. That being said...that's only from this side of the puter screen as I've yet to open one up. Played many nice Strats...all had warts though.

    After a long time we could forget a lil of how godly his guitar playing as he hasnt been quite releasing that many lately. But it really only takes one of any of his live solo to remind us that there never was anyone that even come close to him. YES he is that relevant, or the most.

      @@robertwellington2616, there's three strats that I'd say are his top 3... The Black One, from Try and Continuum, in Belief, this one, and a Jimi Hendrix Monterrey Pop Strat from his John Mayer Trio days. Any one of those 3, IMHO, as long as I've been listening to him, deliver the goods.

      Randy van Vliet I think his SRV Strat means a lot to him though. He worked at a gas station for it. Etc. my favorite as I think I may have said is this 64 strat. Just really like it.

      John could make a Squire Bullet Stratocaster sound good. It's in his fingers. Of course, when one of your favorite guitars is in your hands that's super comfortable to you... you can make it sing and say some pretty unbelievable things, with just the right touch.

    • @randyvanvliet226
      @randyvanvliet226 5 лет назад

      It makes one wonder... But I've no idea how much Steve Jordan tours any more, or if he has prior engagements. David Brian Harris is a major staple, as well as Pino Palladino in his North America tours.

      @@randyvanvliet226 If you watch steves version of Slow dancing, he plays it with a double beat each time it gives it more of a groove if that makes sense but yeah steve was meant to be on this tour, thats why pino is there, but steve wanted to finish the new verbs album so he couldnt make it

      @@rcruz262 well, I think it might be fascinating to see the old master playing with John, similar approach to music, roots etc and also fingerpicking ( partly). That's my opinion, naturally you might want him play with someone else. He already played with EC. If we add David Gilmour we would have my top fav players. What's important, not only are they unique guitarists but also they're all great singers and songwriters. I could place Chris Rea here as well

      @Green Frog I guess you are referring to this studio session ruclips.net/video/eazTG2aXJiI/видео.html
      I am sorry but you are not right as the SRV-strat is in polyurethane and the guitar in the video is clearly an aged vintage guitar dressed in nitrocellulose lacquer. The fact that it is two different guitars is backed up by the fact that it´s mentioned on multiple places online. He also talk about the early 60´s strat in one of his periscopes. Feel free to check the link out buddy. I know my Mayergear.
