    Come to Colombia South America where I live. No guns allowed here. However, we cannot go out on the streets without getting robbed at gun point. Only the criminals have guns here.

    These kids paid for the right to march with their own blood. I'm a gun owner who completely supports these kids in their goals to limit assault weapons in the hands of civilians. No one needs the ability to kill large numbers of people in seconds. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said that there are limits as to what weapons civilians can wield, and the Second Amendment provides for regulation, not a bloody free-for-all with assault weapons!!! And thank you Veterans for Gun Control for your statement and participation!!!

      There is millions of people die because someone is texting and driving and by the hand of doctors and no one is doing anything about it!!!
      This is a people’s control not a gun control, Chavez did it in Venezuela, he took all the guns in 1999 and the home invasions and kidnapping increased by 80% the next day !!!
      Kennesaw Georgia did a mandatory gun ownership to arm every one and every house , In other words, Kennesaw residents were required to own guns … save for those Kennesaw residents who couldn’t afford guns, couldn’t use guns, couldn’t legally own guns, or simply didn’t want to have guns. Essentially, Kennesaw crime dropped dramatically by 6 murders in 6 years !!!!

    Here's the deal: statistically, teenagers are about ten times more likely to die while driving than by any form of gun violence. So, if we are going to have ANY talk about banning certain guns or high capacity magazines or anything else, we also need to talk about forcing every state in the union to *raise the age to drive to 21* That would save MORE lives than any form of gun control.
    And if that was the trade off, something tells me these brats would go right back to eating their Tide Pods™ and polishing their participation trophies and forget about this subject again.

    Imagine seeing 17 kids gunned down with an automatic that he legally bought and saying “well I don’t think we should change anything about the types of guns people are allowed to have, or the type of people we allow to have guns”.     The SCOTUS reiterated as recently as March 21, 2016 (Caetano v. Massachusetts, No. 14-10078) that, "the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms that applies against both the Federal Government and the States" and that, "the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding." (NOTE: you could insert "keepable" for "bearable", fwiw). And, that the term, "bearable arms" includes "any weapon of offence" or "thing that a man wears for his defence, or takes into his hands, " that is "carried ... for the purpose of offensive or defensive action."
    Other standing court precedents clearly indicate that any weapon which "has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia ..." IS protected by the Second Amendment. (Miller v. U.S.(1939))
    Man, I'm thinking about all those M4/M16/M60/240B/SBRs, etc. I could be enjoying - if they weren't being denied to me unlawfully by our criminal governments and their felon actors.
    Reference also: D.C. v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010).
    Article IV, Section 2, Clause 1: “The Citizens in each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities (rights) as Citizens in the several States.”
    14th Amendment: “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; …”
    So, how are proposals to repeal the Second Amendment or ban the 21st Century Militiaman's Rifle, the AR15 or AK47/74, going to comport with the above and how can anyone sworn to "support, protect and defend" the Constitution of the U.S. support a ban on any “arms” without violating their own Oath of Office and "warring against the Constitution" and, therefore, committing a FEDERAL FELONY punishable by death pursuant to 18 USC 241, 242?
    The problem for real Americans is this: The State and Appeals Courts have been defying the SCOTUS and finding contrary to both Heller I and McDonald in several cases and the SCOTUS has just been standing down and not hearing the cases allowing unconstitutional opinions to stand and harm to be done to individual Americans across the land. But, when you think about it, the SCOTUS does NOT have an “enforcement” force. LE technically belongs to the Executive Branch! So, who are the SCOTUS’ enforcers? Maybe the military who all swear oaths to “support, protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S. from all enemies, foreign and domestic …”?
    "... against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
    "... our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."

    If we just deal with the truth, this problem goes away. I think it is incredibly inspiring and as an American I am proud our youth are getting involved in our democracy at such an immature age. Events like this need to be front and center. It can be a great way for Americans to come together and address our problems in America in a constructive way. The rally however, appears to be coached to beleive there is only one solution. I don't think that is the message we should be sending to our youth. I don't think it very responsible for the media or the government to disrespect my rights over conjecture. If you beleive taking my right to own a gun is less important than your right to feel warm and fuzzy inside, then you are part of the problem. First I don't own a gun. But, I own the right to have one. In Wyoming it is the easiest to exercise that right. Where anyone can openly carry a gun. It also boasts in the bottom 7% for violent crime. Where Chicago and D.C. I am not so sure as they have the toughest laws, I hear, and the worst crime. So, I think it is every Americans responsibility to know facts on the subject before they infringe on the rights of another American. As adults we should be teaching or children. Our wisdom may prevent them from making the same mistakes. Our President, Mr. Trump, nailed it on the head right out of the gate. I can't give an exact quote as I only heard it once as gun opposition received so much more coverage. But, it was basically - We need to address the difficult and challenging problems we face related to Mental Health. Immediately, he identified the problem. Something no one would bring up or acknowledge. Because there is no easy fix. What a huge and challenging problem. In every crime it comes down to a mental problem and choosing to do something that is illegal. Period. As adults we need to show the children, through our actions, the truth. Schools are entirely underfunded. If this and previous generations are going to spend our childrens and grandchildrens tax money on our government budget. Then we should include the ones that will have to pay for it. Maybe if we fund our schools correctly they can "smart" their way out of some of our messes. Even though in most of these school shootings, the school administrations where aware of problems with the eventual criminal shooter, they did not have the resources to intervene in eliminating the threat. Our school system is a institution that is run poorly and with contempt. Our school system needs to mirror the society we want in America, our morals, our values, our laws and reflect the worlds most successful country. However,The blame game can't elect the school system the only honor of being the most at fault. In teaching our children we must lead and question, what our children can do NOW to deal with the horrible acts of criminals. What you do is what will define you. Kids being manipulated to be political pawns benefits nobody.The subject of Gun control frustrates most adults and only complicates the mental health of precious children who are looking for protection, guidence and closure to a complicated trend. Right now the message should be compassion. Right now, all across america there are students being intercepted from commiting the same crime. It is never covered in the media. They seem to have with intention to help correct the issue. They just like to fan the flames. The day after 17 students where shot, kids noticed a student had the same traits as the shooter. Pictures on facebook with guns. Hate talk and he had recently been expelled. Kids alerted authorities. They listened and the kid was questioned. Turns out my nephew was number 3 on his list. Police questioned why he would be on the list. He acknowledged embarressing the kid in class the previous year. So, there you have it folks. We all know about bullying. If kids want to see and be a part of change in the world. Be the change the world needs. Why is it so hard to be nice, to care and love one another? Teach the children to create a difference in their school. " You and your friends start a club" To make sure everyone is included. To reach out to the kids that don't have the advantages you have at home. Go and sit with the ones alone at lunch and share your life. Share and invite another to study hall. The monsters are coming from your society. If they are included in society and make friends maybe they will realize they are not monsters and join in all the reindeer games. This is important. Our childrens' future could very well depend on it. This doesn't require anything to be voted on and passed through our dysfuncional government. It is the moral obligation of the media, the adults and every citizen to acknowledge the true cause of violence is mental health. March and encourage our government to fund our school system properly. Show compassion and encourage the children to pass it on. It has an immediate impact and everyone benefits. Hey folks, it's a win, win. Everyone can get behind a win, win right?

      Saku Koutaniemi how many and how fast do people die in public bombings? Boston. Oklahoma City. London. It can just as easily be done at schools.
      And when you look at the numbers of deaths from "leaders" like Hilter and the like to get their policies"passed", our national leaders aren't going to have a problem dropping a few kids to get their anti-gun policy passed. And they will kill more innocent people when their next "anti-whatever" policy.

    The problem with this, that no body even the government can ban Assault rifles. They can’t do much the Senate, Judicial, Congress, Executive etc. are probably not going to anyway. By the way, even if we did ban assault rifles evil souls will always find ways to eliminate and kill us. It’s just the modern world. It’s just it’s so focused on rather than let’s say the Las Vegas music festival shooing in Oct 2017 nobody said shit about gun control as much as this. The students never organized this it was something else..There is just *Too many* kids not fully educated on a political and a casual level to protest like this.

      Really? As I recall, there actually WAS an assault weapons ban in this country that lasted ten years (resulting from the massacres in San Ysidro, Edmond, and Killeen), and while it certainly didn't put an end to mass shootings (Columbine and the Atlanta spree killings happened right in the middle of that 10-year ban on assault weapons), it did decrease their frequency and significantly decreased the number of people killed in such events. And I believe that it's no accident that, within a year of the expiration of that assault weapons ban, there was a mass shooting at a school in Minnesota.

      @@letsgobrandon6014 I'm just greatful to live in the UK where the idea of going to school isn't surrounded by the theme of violence or guns. I don't think any establishment built for children should have such things as guns. Those children should have the right to feel safe in the classroom. School should be for learning, nothing else. Perhaps the problem needs to be tackled with more mental health support within these groups? Or maybe it's a matter of security and a strange priorities over int he states. Call me crazy but I don't think children asking for safety in their learning environment is wrong

They speak from the Heart and they speak the Truth !! They are not politicians, not running for office and in no need of Funds. Everyone, everywhere this is what the First Amenment really looks like.     I hate these kids who do this. If you are around 13 or under, you can't fathom this stuff. These ideas are planted in their minds by their parents/teachers. They are scapegoats for their parent's beliefs. I believe that banning guns will solve nothing. All we can do is beef up security for schools. For the people who say they shouldn't expect to be shot, don't. If you expect to be shot, then you are either paranoid or delusional. It's not like these shootings are extremely common. Only a few major school shootings happen per year. Not to say that the number shouldn't be lower, but this march shouldn't be lead by people who can't fully comprehend politics yet.

      Totally agree. They're not getting to the root cause of the problem -- they just want to go after the tool that is used. To me, the root causes of the problem are over-medication of young people (especially with drugs like Ritalin), as well as a lax approach to mental health in general. I heard somewhere that practically every one of these school shooters is on one of these drugs or an anti-depressant, but it is not reported in the lamestream media, for obvious reasons (ad revenue from Big Pharma pays the bills). Even drugs like Ambien and drugs used for nicotine addiction can have extremely unpredictable side effects that lead people to do these things. Also, we live in a culture that glorifies violence (movies, TV, video games, music, etc.), If you point this out or try to take these things away from people (especially liberals) they will resist just like gun owners are resisting.

    Well, as a German I wanna point out that this statement is utter bullshit. I know it's not easy to compare a country in Europe with the USA. Well, but I try it.
    The funny thing is you raise your kids in a different way.
    1. It's ok for you to be helicopter parents, like Sara Zaske described in her book Achtung Baby, and it is not ok to let your kids go to school alone. In Germany teachers or police officers show them how to walk to the school safely. Then they do a little bike license. An officer comes to school and they let kids drive through differnt streets and the officer takes notes. At a few check points there are some parents also. Officers also teach kids how to react in certain situations. Kids in Germany walk or drive with the bike, bus or train to school on their own.
    2. Firefighters go to your schools and tell kids that they should stay away from fire, but on the other hand you want kids to learn how to use a gun. In Germany firefighters and fire craftsman make workshops and show kids how to handle fire, how make a bonfire, what to do in a dangerous situation. We have some kids who are part of the school firefighter team or kids who exactly know how to use a defibrillator.
    3. In the USA the average training of a police officer is 15-16 weeks. In Germany it takes 3+ years to become an officer. They have to learn a lot about de-escalation, self defense training with and without weapons.

    Only good parenting and education will help, not weapons. And of course police officers should have a better training and no every idiot should be allowed to be a police officer. That is the only way you bring back trust. The funny thing is, everytime I see a video with people who are defending carrying weapons, they often behave like the craziest people. Why should these people have a gun? I'm from Germany, but you can see everything I told you in almost every european country. By the way that doesn't mean that we don't have problems or stupid people in our country.
    And another great video people should watch. I'm the last person who would say you can learn something from Germany or Europe in general, but in this case I do.
