You need to come out with a "coffee table" style book with all the unique cars that come through curated and their stories. That would be amazing.
Love this channel has more value than anything else I see on YT
Damn, I remember when F50s were trading for $750-850k
I cound have bought a Dino back in the day for 5 grand, but I was 17 and it needed a bit of attention, the repar bill was what scared me away. This was in Italy in 1995.
@@noth606 that sucks mate
Love that you said "just because it's rare doesn't mean it's valuable"
Too many people think that because a car is made in limited numbers, it automatically means its going to appreciate or even hold its value. Not the case.
Love the channel dude
Wow! Fantastic autos. Great analysis. Thank you for sharing. Nice job John!
A very comprehensive and thorough list, with good insights and justification for the named examples. I think that you hit the nail on the head with your assessment. Definitely some future classics mentioned and as the acquisitions cost of modern hypercars increases year-over-year, I believe the demand for each of the vehicles you mentioned will increase as well. Great video. Subscribed
I love the productions and editing. I’m surprised the channel has not blown up more. Keep at it you really got a good thing going.
Wouldn't exactly say the XJ220 was well received lol. The prototype had awd, V12, butterfly doors and rear wheel steering. The production car had none of those. Some people that had put their deposits down were PISSED rightfully so. That's a lot of promises to go back on.
KISS and supercars!!!! two of my favourite things...rockon dude... great video
This dude is a great story teller
Maserati MC 12
- originally they produce only 7, (4 for track use and only 3 for the road)
- than second part was 14 instead of 7
- than was 17
- because the car was so successful and collectors wanted they built more but the price was much higher ( information comes from the magazine i read over the years, from the beginning of mc13 project), today people said around the world it's a modern MC12 based on LaFerrari...
Ferrari F50
- when this came out i personally don't like the design and i actually got in a fight about this design over F40 in geography class with colleague that our teacher was so kind and try to help us and understand what it's more important to us, since that day it's growing up on me and I love it, actually it's my first supercar 1/18 scale that I bought with my brother's money that i still have it
Lamborghini Countach
- i like this impossible car, i can called this a modern day hypercar because it's still extreme
- i remember the first time i saw a replica at sea side where i was a kid in a black sea resort with a cool name Venus its in Romania, the replica was yellow and don't think it had a engine, but everywhere the car showed up everyone try to see it and droll over it.
- i personally like the original with no rear spoiler made by Bertone,
The LP400 from 1974, i posted one example on my Instagram page :
instagram.com/p/B_M2oGSFwYu/?igshid=j7u2huakcaia
- funny the Lamborghini Gallardo sold over 10 thousand of them
Jaguar Xj220
- i remember when a true collector from my country Romania bought one over the phone or something it's a racing green and back then he spend over a million dollars and he still has it, and every person can see it in his Țiriac Collection:
instagram.com/tiriaccollection?igshid=1hztk1lej9c9t
- i read recently that Jaguar forced buyers to pay for the car after them putting a deposit on the car when it was launched, that was crazy move back than but it worked and now we can see more of this amazing project and this beautiful supercar
- Jaguar sue with lawyers buyers who put a deposit but don't wanted to buy the car
Ferrari Testarossa
- this gorgeous supercar it's under priced like Lamborghini Countach because they made a lot of replica’s back in the day and every Tuning company copyright the side vents and other parts, we see it on bmw, Mercedes even Porsche back then!
- from what I know 2 red examples are in my country in private collections
Ferrari 550 Barchetta
- it's not made to use it with a top or ruff top, because of that Ferrari made a ugly mechanism
- from my opinion all variations of 550 are beautiful, love them all and the best of them it's in sultan of Brunei collection Ferrari 550 Spyder Hard top the same mechanism that will enter production for Ferrari California
instagram.com/p/B_56Vo8llme/?igshid=pvcddd8ocplu
Lamborghini Miura & SV
- yes it's gorgeous and it's the project that Ferrari don't put in to production because he said my clients can't drive a rear mounted engine, so Lamborghini hearing that try it and was a instant success and a very big surprise for Ferrari
- i remember when some years ago Lamborghini Miura hype was so big that Walter de Silva design and made a modern day version based on Lamborghini Gallardo and sadly with a v10, was a modern day interpretation, sadly the full-sized concept car never made it to production, we need more brothers like sultan of Brunei had not stealing people's money, we need people that work hard for what they have that can order what they dream!
Bugatti eb110
- from my opinion this it's a over engendered supercar
-this needs to go over 7 million dollars, it's a manual transmission, it's has cool doors the coolest before Koenigsegg
- still dream to see one in real life i can't imagine to have one it's the impossible dream
Porsche Carrera GT
- love the concept car now in a Dutch private collection, but personally don't like the production model back than, i love it now
- from my opinion it's a modern day Ferrari F40, it's extreme and people died trying to master it on the road and track
- this needs to go over 10 million dollars and yes i still dream to see one in real life, can't imagine to afford one
- it's the only car in the world that has a engine initially built for formula 1 than for LeMans, imagine that (bmw X5 SAV mk1 with LeMans engine is the first car with that type of engine, 700 horse power in a sport activity vehicle, with roll cage x2 bracket seats & manual transmission over 300 km/h - some say they built 7 exemplars for private collectors)
Ferrari 384 & F355 Challenge
- both beautiful a small version of Testarossa from my opinion
- back in 1993 i have them both as a present in 1/43 scale models I know i prefer the real ones but this was a great gift and I still have them today ( back than I was not allowed to buy toy cars because my mom needs to still our money and change her clothes, hope for every new mom out there today, to love more their kids)
Bugatti Veyron
- the first over-engineering hypercar of the new world
- the company director back then was Ferdinand Piech a direct descended from the funder Ferdinand Porsche that created VW beetle
- the Veyron program cost the VW Group a fortune to create : billions of dollars, i don't know exact number but it's time to learn
- this car was so expensive to produce that more investors try to stop the project but because Ferdinand Piech save the modern day Vw they don't have the chance
- some say Vw lost 1 milion dollars for every Bugatti Veyron produced
- I'm sure this product, lunch a modern day era of the 80s hypercar companies and clients
- it's a funny story in my country with one Bugatti Veyron, a very known rich man who had only one child a boy, the boy loved fast vehicles and the fastest was a bike, motorcycle, his father try to convince him not to drive the bike any more because it's to risky and he can die, after time his father asks him what the dream car he wants to buy for the boy to be the ultimate car to replace the motorcycle and the boy thinks his father can't afford his impossible dream the Bugatti Veyron, actually the father buys the car for his boy trying to save him, sadly the car was hard to register because national laws back than was not existing for this type of car and engine, they actually made a special class for it, than they have a bigger problem, no insurance in country want to insure this type of car, they pay over 1 million euros for the car, and after months of negotiations ING insurance insure the car for two hundred thousand dollars a month or 6 months, because the costs of having it and driving it was so expensive they sold the car after years, attention this a story i don't have the real knowledge about this, but the car was in my city center and I have prove pictures with it!
- from my point of view this needs to go over 20 milion dollars because of the impossible project
Porsche 959
- the impossible dream, over-engineering supercar
- love it back than even today thinking about it
Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona
- FIRST time I saw this i personally don't like it, now I love it, it's beautiful
- I'm sure this will grow up in value over the years
The good life ..Hey John ☺️.
Well done buddy, You bring a lot to the car world.
Let me guess. By chance, you have all of them for sale? ;)
he doesn't.
Came for the cars... Stayed for the music!!!! Love the content!!!
Great video. Great Info!
Thank you again for your videos!!!!
Hey John. If you have a 959, you should make the investment and send it to Bruce Canepa in Cali. He strips them down to the bolt, bare metal, every piece. Everything gets powder coating for durability and he replaces EVERYTHING possible but the original block with modern Porsche equipment, Borg Warner turbos, the whole deal. New interior, paint-to-sample exterior, and basically makes it a 2021 959. Keeps the 2.8L block but now makes over 800hp and 650lb/ft. That's a car you can sell for whatever you want to, and it will start with 0 Miles on it. So few 959 exist, and these are better after Canepa does it. No need to keep it original if you can raise the value. I just saw the Canepa video the other day, like 53 minutes of showroom, museum, private collection, and workshop. I've never seen anything like it. Now you're talking about a $3.5-4.5million in a few years. And it will be the best new car on the market. So sick.
These videos are amazing!
Lol that song from “Blow” where Johnny Depp and friends get stoned on the beach 🤣🤣
4th anniversary of this video is approaching. It would be cool to see an update and these cars, and maybe what cars you’d add to the list today.
Loved it, thanks 🤗
it'd be cool to see a follow up to this, to see where they are now
Wearing a KISS shirt gives you my full credit !! Thumbs up for all the great information
3 Years later and it turns out you were right. Especially the CGT.
Great videos, tks
I can’t believe Countachs aren’t over a million yet.
• CGT is definitely undervalued •
But it killed the G.O.A.T.!
@@DyingToLive12 No, it didn’t. Whoever was driving wasn’t experienced, nor familiar with the car.

Hi John lovely video you made...would you know what kind of body kit is being displayed at second 4:24...I was never able to find out if it was factory or aftermarket...thanks a lot up front...
Great list I love all this cars, but I would ad Diablo VT because it's my favorite car
I can listen to ur opinions on cars all day long. More videos please
I just knew you were going to put the XJ220 near the top of your list. Thanks to the Jaguar Supercar Register its popularity has grown way back in the early 2000's if you saw 1 at an event you were lucky. In 2012 I managed to get 10 back to Bloxham since then they have increased in value from £180K to £550K. By the way 277 Production cars were produced.
I don’t see how the XJ220 is more valuable than the XJR-15. It’s more rare, V12 and styling that is on par with The F1. It was produced right before the 220 and no one talks about them. I’ll take a 15 over a 220 any day of the week.
I had the pleasure of driving a 550 Barchetta..Black/Black. I was a Valet in my early 20’s at a high end restaurant in Rockland Co. NY and the owner would come to grab “take out”. I would be busy running around and hed leave it running in the driveway with the door open while hed be inside. He would always throw me a $20 and tell me to take the car out and drive it! He would wait for me to take the car out until i brought it back. Never once did I beat on it or anything crazy. I would baby it every time. I was very fortunate! And I have stories galore of cars ive driven as a Valet! Being a manager…the trust I built, i made a fortune as a Valet and people would ALWAYS tell me to go take the cars out for cruises. Lambos, Bentleys, the first Phantoms, etc.
I told John and Vinny this story when I had a chance to visit Curated last year....I worked at a Lincoln dealership in Bergen Co NJ. The owner of the dealerships spoiled son had a White/Tan LM002 with 100k miles. The stench of water damage, cracked wood, horrific leather…Me and another co worker would take it out after hours and beat the ever living hell out of it! The Rambo Lambo! No one ever knew lol…ahhh to be 18 again!
Also appreciate the 80s Miami vice music in the background😀
I was 13 in 85... I had the Countach poster... got the 288 GTO poster... that is my car... 288 GTO DROOOOL!
348 Challenge for 80k is a steal..
I was 6 in 1985 and in the early 1990s I had a Lamborghini Countach poster on the wall but I also had a bunch of 68/69 Camaros, 2nd gen. Firebirds Trans Ams Porsche 911/964/959s and an Alfa Romeo Montreal. Two days ago I uploaded a shot of a Montreal on i293 in New Hampshire... first one I ever saw in real life!
As a huge petrolhead, I’ve been fortunate enough to see most super/hypercars and many are amazing and exciting to see, however, to this day there are still only 2 cars that have literally made my jaw hit the ground, Nr 1 is the Lamborghini Contach, Nr 2 was the Jaguar XJ220. Numbers 1 & 2 on your list, go figure 👍
John you should really do this again. It’s two years later and the market is crazy. It’s there any value left out there?
Sold my 512tr for pretty much what I bought it for (owned 2016-2018). Unfortunately they got stuck in a bubble which rose and popped between 2015-2018. the fact that there were 7000 similar looking regular Testarossas produced really limited the value appreciation. I'd love to agree with you on the 512TR but I think it will always be the difficult middle child (but 512M has better chances to become more valuable)
With all respect, only value for 512M is limited production number. Car is a gargoyle in comparison to your 512TR.
Terrible fail to implement open headlights instead of pop up ones, rims, back lights, it's awful. 512TR Is miss of universe to 512M.
Just imagine buying that abomination, and just few years after seeing brand new 550 Maranelo coming to market...
There was a guy in the neighbourhood who owned an XJ220 in bordeaux-red. That car was insane. One of the most iconic designs ever. An the engine has a great noise when turbos are spooling. Unfortunately he had a fatal car crash near LeMans, so the car had been sold, never seen one again
Awesome list. Also what do you think about the LFA?
Nobody wants to pay $500,000 for a lexus. F1 exhaust note or not. It was already dated when it went to market
I loved the EB110 as a kid from the Supercars VHS my dad got me for my 8th Birthday. I feel in love with the Enzo as an early teen and then I heard the Porsche Carrera GT sounding like an F1 Car and I changed my mind. First 2 cars I would buy if I ever hit more than $10 Million on Lotto. Bugatti as an investment and Carrera GT as my personal achievement to pass down to my kids and grandkids.
What about koenigegg
Any videos on that love to hear ur thoughts on that thanks
This list matches up with my tastes so well. Like everyone fawns over the f40, which is an amazing car, but the soft spot in my heart has been more for the f50. I've never been much of a Porsche guy, but if I had to pick one it would be the 959, but that would be a tough pick over the Carrera gt. I always liked the sleek, panther-esque, look of the xj220. Again, not really much of a Bugatti fan, but if I had to pick one, the eb110 doesn't even have competition. Back to Ferrari, the 550, is the absolute best of the front engines (although I'd go with the maranello, bc it's one of the sexiest cars ever, and the barchettas soft top just look a bit gaudy, although when it's down...) and the 355 challenge is my favorite of the v8 cars (although that would be tough to pick because of the unbelievable performance of the modern cars, after driving a 458i and f8, they are just so blisteringly fast it's insane fun) and then of course the 512tr is my favorite car of all time. The 512m just doesn't look right with the headlights, it doesn't match the styling of the rest of the car at all, so the tr is the ultimate Ferrari IMHO. Not too hot on the rest of them, but the ones listed above are, with only a handful of exceptions, the only supercars that need to exist at all. Discovered you guys just a few months ago, but I've been loving your content recently. You earned my sub on your showroom tour vid, but if I could sub again, this one would make me do it. Cheers fellas. Next time I go to south Florida, I may have to stop in. I was born in West Palm Beach back in 89, and fondly remember seeing Testarossas screaming down the road as a youngster and that definitely made an impression on me more than the 60s muscle cars my dad would build in his garage..
Based on some of these prices the McLaren F1 should be worth about $85,000,000
John, time for an update to this list. I’d ad Ford GT (gen 2).
I agree with you... however, what d you thing about '05 Ford GT40? I think their prices might also go up lot.
Nice video, scarcity and demand drives price
13:44 when the chocobo lure kicks in
Seen a Ferrari f50 in a showroom of a small Massachusetts repair shop never had seen one awesome
Just one minor correction. The 512 TR had a flat 12 not a V12. Loved the list regardless.
Technically it was a 180 degree v12 .
you are such a guru ,,,, 2020 price for 959 is USD 300.000 or less
Hello John
The Ferrari 512tr does not have power steering. But I agree with you it will be worth more money down the road.
My stepdad carved my pinewood derby car in the shape of a Ferrari F40.
I had a pinewood derby car that was shaped by a CNC milling machine into a c4 corvette. Had mirrors and everything haha I ended up selling it to a little kid that wanted it. Wish I hadn’t.
JAGGG Definitely
Their was a time dealers couldn't see them carrera gt. They even went down in value if I recall to like couple hundred grand. They have just continued to go up. I think the original ford gt from mid 2000s and the new ford gt should be on the list as well.
It’s funny to hear the him talk about the Countach as being undervalued. I remember browsing Ebay Motors as a middle schooler back in 2000 and seeing them listed for under $100,000. I’m not disagreeing with him. I just think it’s shocking how dirt cheap they used to be.
"The 512TR has power steering ..." - Nope. Never.
How about Gumpert Apollo,Spyker?
Just about every car on the list has gotten cheaper over last 1-2 years. This doesn't show much in asking prices yet but for many cases actual sale prices have gone down. How covid-19 recession will affect prices remains to be seen but outlook isn't good for sellers next few years. Eventually prices do start to go up again and then this list will be useful for investors.
Someone tell me the song at 8:13 please ???
Whats the song when they introduced the Miura at 10:40
"The Thrill Is Gone" by the late B.B. King.
Dude looks baked!!!! Lol
Can you do an update to this video?
Kind of feels like being about the same age you re listing all our heroes from childhood to late teenagehood lol
I hate to nitpick but swan song doesn't work in reference to the muira. Swan song means final act, finishing move if you will. So in essence the Muira SV was the exact opposite of a swan song, it was Lamborghinis debutante ball it's coming out party. Either way beautiful car that I will never get to own or drive for that matter.
In 1984 I saw a 288 GTO at a new car show, next to a 944 Porsche. I think the Ferrari was $125k and the Porsche was 18k. GTO's should gain in value too.
Good video but in his number produced graphics he uses the wrong symbol for "less than"; he uses the symbol for "greater than".
Thought I would have heard the Diablo VT
What about the ccx
I love your videos and your stories are wonderful. The only flaw I’ve found is you’re mispronunciation o certain words and Porsche should really be corrected since this is a car channel.
It’s ‘Porsh-a’ not ‘Porsh’.
👍👍👍
I think the 1973 Carrera RS is in the same bucket as the 959. You can get them for 600k and I bet in 5 years they will be over a million!
I thought the Ferrari 599 GTB came in 6 speed manual as well and that is also a v12 front engine so idk what you mean about the 550 being the last manual v12. thats wrong
I think he meant for a topless car 10:25
550 was last to have that combo as standard. After, all sold more examples with F1 or dual clutch. 599 only made in like 38 cars out of the entire run. They fetch 5-7x the money of the F1 as the car is timeless and not dated by the gearbox. A good manual car and great driver is THE timeless combination, man and machine.
God the Bugatti EB110 is undervalued at 1.5 million I remember in the early 90s when they were new and sold for $380000 when the company went bust they had a load of left over Supports selling for half that.
I know the Porsche 918 is a recent car by I see this car ascending in value also.
Carrera GT, to me, is easily the most undervalued car on the market - considering what they're going for now.
lol mans really used "Rumble" as the background music
You missed one John...The Lexus LFA.
I know the TR is iconic but not in the same standing as a 250 gto family of the 60s or 250 California
I think the Vector W8 is an undervalued supercar.
My list would be VERY different
Why do you say that Miura was the Lamboghini swan song?
No HENNESSEY VENOM, Saleen S-7, Ford GT or SSC Ultimate Aero (or Shelby Cobra) ?????
Maybe this guy is too young to remember the fiasco surrounding the XJ220. It was supposed to be a V12 car and those placing orders were defrauded when it was delivered as a V6 turbo. Customer's demanded their money back. The V6 engine sounds like shit. There's a lot of bad sentiment surrounding this car. It's not even a real Jag. It's a TWR product.
Agreed.... not to mention the McLaren F1 was better in every single aspect.
Countach Trapper Keeper
Vector w8
Isn't this just a list of late 80's and 90's mainstream supercars with the f40 and f1 taken out ?
no idiot
@@joblodders8947 I think it is.
First super car would be the 959 it literally changed the world of sports cars into a new class called super car
I think, all of the cars +30 years old are already dated. Yes, they are gonna up in value, but not as a carrera GT or 550 manual. Look at F40.
There’s 918 918s
The Ferrari F512M is rare because is hugly! Fiat management totally destroyed the purity of the Pininfarina design. The F512TR is a much better choice and the original Testarossa "monospecchio" is the best of them all. The XJ220 and EB110 are amazing cars but very unfortunate cars. Daytona coupe are a steal if original, most of them where botched to transform them in the more desired Daytona spider. Modern Bugatti (after the EB110 ) are a joke and toys. The cizeta moroder 16T is very undervalued too. Can I ask how rare is an early LP400 periscope?
A COUNTACH IS UNDERVALUED?!? Have you EVER seen what they auction for?
This video is 2+ years old.
What??
The Ferrari 355 is the best sounding car ever made
Indeed I am in agreement 🤗
Sucks that so many assholes inflate these cars' values to the point that they'll eventually all end up in garages and museums.
99 civic si..........ill take $50,000
A Countach is not undervalued, it is far too overvaued. I'm only saying that because I want one for the cheap cheap :(
Why do you say these cars are undervalued ? Their prices just going up insanely. If they were undervalued you could buy them for pennies.
Too many obvious choices that everyone agrees with......how about a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster? A 1 year design, with only 142 cars world wide. Can't see that not doubling in the next decade.....
Porsche 959 over the Ferrari 365.
How does he not know how to pronounce Porsche?
Miura and Countach are undervalued? My ass, this is ridiculous I’ve never seen anyone as obsessed with a million dollar anything might as well call him Dr Evil at this fucking point next thing water will be undervalued John seems like a nice guy but god this is annoying
I need you to shut up about the Barchetta.......
