I bought some 23’s in 1975 to replace some BOSE 301’s powered by a Marantz 2230. Sadly I sold all that gear upon receipt of an assignment to Germany with the USAF knowing I could build my dream audio system there. I remember the EAST COAST vs WEST COAST sound battles and after hearing some JBL’s I got hooked on the WEST COAST sound. I still have the L-100s I bought in 1976.
Successor to the Model 6, not the Model 5. The Model 5 is a 3 way, the 6 and 23 are 2 way. My model 23 speakers have become my favorite ones, besting Kef 103.2 speakers that were my favorite speakers from 1984 until I found my Model 23s about 10 years ago.
I've had KLH mini since the early 2000's with several receivers coming and going and the nice one foot height and 5 inch width makes it so I can set them on a shelf or stand or from the ceiling. Six of them and one KLH center. Can't kill them! The last receiver was a TX-NR757 and soon I will put a TX-NR6100 in place to drive them. Wish they were still available in stores. I see that the new owners of KLH are trying to make them into an out of reach high priced brand.

I agree. A lot of older speakers have more warmth and character than the newer ones.
