Hi Russ. Outstanding video as always. I think this is the one I've been waiting for but I'm very new to the world of retro handhelds and my knowledge/understanding levels are very low. I understand you're probably extremely busy but, for someone like me, it would be very much appreciated. Keep up the great work.
I've been able to play all of these consoles on the Nvidia shield portable since 2013 and before that when I started this doing this stuff on the first android phone the G1 came out
13:52 The reason Virtua Cop 2 and Sega Rally Championship don't run well on this device is that both games use Windows CE which is hard to emulate on lower-end systems. Luckily the vast majority of Dreamcast titles don't use Windows CE so they will be playable.
I just watched a video where ETA Prime said Dreamcast was better with maximum frame skip on, and don't even think about Saturn unless it's simple games like Gex, etc, and this was on the Android side which is supposed to be better, but then here comes the JELOS team, just 2 days after this released getting higher end systems running very well! I would've been happy with just N64 and below on this device, but knowing it can do Dreamcast, PSP, and Saturn too is just icing on the cake. I really like the design of this unit resembling an old SNES controller. Definitely going to be a nice conversation starter much like my wood-grain RG351V is.
I honestly wish I would have waited on the retroid pocket 2+. I like pretty much everything about this device more and the slight performance decrease wouldn't bother me.
Russ is a champ pumping out all these videos so quickly. This past weekend has been crazy with the amount of quality content he's put out. Not sure if you wanna put out a Patreon but it's an idea!
This is significantly better. I'm not sure I would buy an anbernic product given their tendency to release half-finished software, but the community is really something
Anbernic seem to have chosen to do 4:3 well with this device, and it seems to be the correct choice. There is some very stiff competition among the stronger 16:9 devices.
Russ, love your videos, I use them to create notes for myself on the Game unit. I have 50 years computer experience, yea I'm dating myself. Remember punch cards? Probably not ;-) Why do I still l love retro gaming at 70? Because it takes me back to when thing were a bit simpler. Just an observation, I don't think the JELOS is ready for prime time yet, that's not surprising in that it's only 4 weeks old. After numerous downloads, SD cards, differnt PC systems and SHA key checks, the imaged JELOS fails the Etcher verification process. The JELOS SD card is created but two of the partitions are not visible to Windows. The stock Anbernic Linux SD that came with the unit has all three of its partitions visible and ROMs can be transferred. I know JELOS isn't your baby but you are kinda the Godfather by default. Keep broadcasting!!
I remember you mention in your rg503 video that even a normal2x filter can lead to performance drops for SNES, what changed here that allows stuff like normal4x to be used? Is it the cfw or extra ram? And does cfw still disallow the use of shaders that should give similar effect to normal filters? On the whole very nice improvement from cfw, but I still think there are too many compromises for psp/Saturn and Dreamcast for something around 130-140. They really should have release this at around the same price as the initial releases of rk3326 device like the rg351p and rg351v as a generation upgrade at about the same price. Might still pick this up or the rg503 (want to see a update on its performance on cfw especially when compared to rg353p) if prices drop closer to 100 usd in the future, keeping an eye out for the miyoo p60, RP3 and powkiddy x28 at the moment.
If only this had the performance and price of the retroid pocket 2+, or if that device had a similar form factor. Why is that chip not more widely used? For anything more, like GC and PS2 might as just upgrade to Odin/Steam Deck/Loki/AYA core i3 or something. Nice informative vid!
I am now going to gift my RG 351p to a friend or family member and get one of these. This is a fun hobby, and much easier on the wallet than my sim racing and other expensive onese.
Followed instructions perfectly installed jelos and works fine…but whenever I take the second card out and add roms and put it back in all I get is a blank screen. Any suggestions please fellas??? Amazing work Russ love the work and effort that go into these videos
The Retroid Pocket 2+ is still more powerful than this one, but I would say the RG353P has better ergonomics, true dual analog, and that Linux OS option makes navigation wonderful.
@@throbinhood6930 if you can afford it, it’s kinda nice to have a mini device like the 280v or Miyoo Mini, and medium handheld like the RP2+ or 351 series and something like the Odin for that nice larger screen and extra power, more for playing at home. Russ kind of covered that in a recent video where he was deciding which devices in those general sizes to take travelling since they serve a different purpose

So hyped for the TMNT Port. It's amazing how fast people work on this stuff as a hobby just because they're that much into it. Now I'm torn between getting an additional handheld (I own a 351P which I love) just for more demanding ports and the benefits of a bigger screen or just buying a Steam Deck since I already own the games and I'll be able to play more. I've been a handheld girl all my life.
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge seemed to be everyone's most anticipated title, so can't be caught lacking here! Anyways, RG552 and RG503 are my recommendations if you're upgrading to another light device and want a better "ports experience". The added screen resolution and wider aspect ratio are big quality-of-life improvements.
The JELOS image you're showing off isn't like mine (even though I got it from your link.) There are zero emulator cores on mine except for Ports and ScummVM, and I have to SSH into my SD card as Windows states I don't have permission to view the directory. Is there an easy-to-download package that has everything configured how it was for you, so I don't have to spend the next year puling my hair out in frustration on trying to get anything to play?
For the life of me, i cannot get any ROMs working with Jelos. The bios checker is saying "Untested". Do you know what this means? Do i have the wrong bios?
Unfortunately it may seem that this this tutorial is already out of date? I flashed my SD card and failed multiple time. When I finally got it to work and it loaded JELOS and I inserted the second SD card no folders auto-populated. Any thoughts?
Cool! Would be nice that AnalogueOS would have this preview video during game scrolling in the menu. Or that Krikzz implements such a cool feature on his EverDrives.

I commented on the last one that it kinda sucked that we had to wait to really know how good a device this was... Some wait huh? Will you be revisiting the 503 with JELOS or one of the other community CFW's as well?
Just had mine delivered yesterday. I have a 2 Sandisk micro Sd cards one 32 and one 256Gb. Do you know any good sites to down load a pack of games and the JELOS OS? Much appreciated
I just bought one myself and it's my first emulator console. I can't wait to try to install this firmware but it's really out of my comfort zone as far as messing with software and what not.
As a follow up to my last reply, I don't suppose you've any ideas on what has happened with the latest JELOS firmware update? The built in "update" option was removed in the last update. It appears the latest version of 20221208 doesn't simply update the RG353P if you place the .tar file into the local update folder. Bit perplexed where to go and what to do.
Excellent video! I flashed Jelos onto my SD card and inserted it into my handheld. It seems to be doing something but the screen has been blank for about 30 minutes now, is that normal? I was hoping for the main menu to pop up
Great video showing the massive improvement from CFW. This device still isn't for me though as I have the RG503 which has the same chipset and suits my needs better.
My Dreamcast performance is not close to what you get here. For instance, Shenmue runs at 23-25fps. Not 29fps has in your video. And the audio crackles way more. Any idea of why? I'm using JelOS with the default configs. Thank you so much for your awesome videos!
Hey Russ, amazing video! I wanted to ask you, I ordered the 64gb Ver and I wanted to put Soul Calibur broken destiny, Virtua Fighter 3 and Dead or Alive 2 on the Android lumix version. Hi, I have installed JelOs in my RG553m and I can’t find anymore the « theme master » in the tools section. Do you know how we can download some themes ? Thanks
Ordered one today. I'm hesitant to upgrade from 280v/350P because it seems like we're so close to a device this size with a chip that can get up to PS2. I play SNES, GBA, and PS1 most but there are games from PSP I'd love to have access to. GC and PS2 on a true pocket device would be incredible.
New to these handhelds. Im probably getting the Miyoo, Odin, Retroid pocket plus 2 and RG351V. Miyoo and Odin for sure. Im learning but its really hard to determine what plays well on what. Im obviously about to drop some cash on some childhood nostalgia. So what devices would you recommend so im not wasting money?
One, I would definitely space them out a bit. I sometimes buy devices together and something always gets ignored lol. But two, if you are buying Miyoo Mini and Odin for sure, then I would skip retroid pocket 2+ unless you really want a midsize device with power and you think Odin is too big or something. I've used my RP2+ a lot less since my Odin arrived. 351v kind of stands on its own with the vertical display in a way that the Miyoo Mini can't fully replicate since the V is more comfortable being a normal size. It's not a necessity, but it's great if you like the DMG game boy form factor and arguably one of Anbernic's better devices.
@@misterkeebler Thanks for the reply! I think i will skip the RP2 and just get the other ones. I can think of practical uses for the other 3. Mainly the Odin being my stay at home platform and taking the other 2 with me daily.
I'd love to see an RG353MP. But not very soon because I just bought the RG351MP (and I'm trying my best not to regret my decision). I like how portable the 351 is. Maybe in a couple of years we'll see that design with an even better chip, that runs Saturn, PSP and Dreamcast even better (maybe flawlesly). Then it will definitely be time for an upgrade.
I see you have a “TATE” setting… in your advanced game menu with the shaders Ect… I’m new and curious how you have this setting since it is not stock with Jelos. Have a good day appreciate any help 🙏
It looks like you have the widescreen hack turned on for Saturn, but it's not a wide screen, so it's cutting off the sides. Is it possible to turn that off to play native 4:3 Saturn?
Ah good call, the setting is set to "original" by default but that's actually interpreted as 3:2 in Yabasanshiro. Same thing happens on the Odin, where "original" is actually a bit wider than 4:3. There is a "4:3" setting and it will squish down the image to match the display (and won't cut off the fps indicator either).
7:25 please do this video!!! I'd love to!!! Oh, and the Stardew Valley port, does it still works? IDK, It will fit beautifully on this device because the Super Nintendo once was the Harvest Moon home.
It is just weird because I'm unable to play saturn on JELOS. The bios files seem all in place, but the firmware gives me close to zero options, and I'm unable to access yabasanshiro's menu in game. Clockwork Knight played nicely on RG351V but it's terrible on this one. Any ideas?Cheers

Holy crap I'm just now finding out about the world of retro handhelds. Last time I looked in 2018 none of this stuff was really available.
I've been able to play all of these consoles on the Nvidia shield portable since 2013 and before that when I started this doing this stuff on the first android phone the G1 came out
When I first saw the RG353P I didn’t think it would be worth it but now that I have seen more on it I think I am going to pick one up.
Seems like a wise choice. 😊
Seeing NiGHTS into Dreams brought a tear to my eye!
Thanks for the info. Still will stick with my retro pocket 2+
I can't wait to see that that Turtles port, amazing tease
It's amazing that we have such an improvement in just a couple days!
I honestly wish I would have waited on the retroid pocket 2+. I like pretty much everything about this device more and the slight performance decrease wouldn't bother me.
@@Pridetoons Im probably picking one up also. But im also ordering an Odin. So idk if that defeats the purpose. For sure a Miyoo too.
@@throbinhood6930 The more the merrier I say. With multiple systems, you can keep gaming while the other devices charge. 😂
Russ is a champ pumping out all these videos so quickly. This past weekend has been crazy with the amount of quality content he's put out. Not sure if you wanna put out a Patreon but it's an idea!
WHOA saturn actually runs great! Super shocked
It's probably a different, more mature emulator, than the one used in stock firmware.
FWI, I’m using Jelos on the RG503 and the normal4x filter works perfectly on SNES. Have a nice day!
I'll wait for the new myioo
I am now going to gift my RG 351p to a friend or family member and get one of these. This is a fun hobby, and much easier on the wallet than my sim racing and other expensive onese.
Followed instructions perfectly installed jelos and works fine…but whenever I take the second card out and add roms and put it back in all I get is a blank screen. Any suggestions please fellas??? Amazing work Russ love the work and effort that go into these videos
Curious.. How does this compare to RP2? Can we get that video? price wise is a difference, but playing and setup wise.. Thanks.
The Retroid Pocket 2+ is still more powerful than this one, but I would say the RG353P has better ergonomics, true dual analog, and that Linux OS option makes navigation wonderful.
@@RetroGameCorps Should i even bother picking up an RP2 os just go with the Odin?
@@throbinhood6930 if you are willing to wait for it, the Odin is definitely worth it
@@throbinhood6930 if you can afford it, it’s kinda nice to have a mini device like the 280v or Miyoo Mini, and medium handheld like the RP2+ or 351 series and something like the Odin for that nice larger screen and extra power, more for playing at home. Russ kind of covered that in a recent video where he was deciding which devices in those general sizes to take travelling since they serve a different purpose
@@KoalaSnuggles Yeah, this is the best channel on youtube that goes over this stuff. Lots of good info. I did watch his travel video earlier.
Ill be getting the RG351v, Miyoo and the Odin. Hopefully the other 2 come quicker and i can set those up and play on those until the Odin gets here.
The Odin would likely be my home game and the other 2 would be my daily carry games. After looking into it more and asking questions about these devices, i think this is honestly the best choice. And i think id be very happy with it.
Thanks for the reply!
We need that TMNT port video for rg351 devices !
I've never played Night Into Dreams but those sounds are so familiar....is that the same sound from PANG the arcade game????
For the life of me, i cannot get any ROMs working with Jelos. The bios checker is saying "Untested". Do you know what this means? Do i have the wrong bios?
it looks great! and it was quicker than I expected.
Im so excited
Unfortunately it may seem that this this tutorial is already out of date? I flashed my SD card and failed multiple time. When I finally got it to work and it loaded JELOS and I inserted the second SD card no folders auto-populated. Any thoughts?
Looks a lot better than it did , it will be interesting to see if the developers can improve Dreamcast and psp.
Cool! Would be nice that AnalogueOS would have this preview video during game scrolling in the menu. Or that Krikzz implements such a cool feature on his EverDrives.
Between this device and the 503, I'm happy to say that I picked the 503
...but this JELOS for the 353p does support HDMi and Bluetooth for home console use ???
i installed Jelos ran firmwares all that it was fine but now when i turn on the RG353P i see the jelos loadding then it just goes to a blank screen until i press the lower + higher volume button then it shows? not sure why but whats going on why do i have to turn down the volume button down and up for jelos screen to show up lol?
I commented on the last one that it kinda sucked that we had to wait to really know how good a device this was... Some wait huh? Will you be revisiting the 503 with JELOS or one of the other community CFW's as well?
Yes, the RG503 is doing much better now too. I’ll be sure to make a video in the future!
Could you follow this guide for the RG353M and 353V? From what I can tell the hardware is identical so it should be the same process, but idk
I want to know how you got the new TMNT running. lol
All in good time 😎
Can you show a separate video explaining on how to add games to this device??!
1:53 Is anyone NOT able to find the "Assets" page at all?
Just installed JELOS on my wife's rg353p, and it's way, way better. I'm still stumped as to why anyone would use the android os on it though.
Thank you, sir! Question-how do some of the higher end N64 games play in JELOS?
Unfortunately they play like crap
As a follow up to my last reply, I don't suppose you've any ideas on what has happened with the latest JELOS firmware update? The built in "update" option was removed in the last update. It appears the latest version of 20221208 doesn't simply update the RG353P if you place the .tar file into the local update folder. Bit perplexed where to go and what to do.
After installing JELOS the devive plays no sound. Only with headphones.....
Excellent video! I flashed Jelos onto my SD card and inserted it into my handheld. It seems to be doing something but the screen has been blank for about 30 minutes now, is that normal? I was hoping for the main menu to pop up
Hi Russ, doing a awesome job there m8 👍👍 I was thinking about getting this RG355p, awesome video. Is there a custom firmware for RG503?
Hi, this same firmware will work on the RG503, and also ArkOS and The Retro Arena have working firmwares too.
Great video showing the massive improvement from CFW. This device still isn't for me though as I have the RG503 which has the same chipset and suits my needs better.
Customizing this device is as fun as playing games on it
There is new update available and I don't know what the right one to use
Some day the stars will align and russ will show gameplay for level 2 of god of war, sonic adventure 2, and nights into dreams
My Dreamcast performance is not close to what you get here. For instance, Shenmue runs at 23-25fps. Not 29fps has in your video. And the audio crackles way more. Any idea of why? I'm using JelOS with the default configs. Thank you so much for your awesome videos!
I can’t wait for you to showcase TMNT Shredder’s Revenge how to install the switch emulator .
Hey Russ, amazing video! I wanted to ask you, I ordered the 64gb Ver and I wanted to put Soul Calibur broken destiny, Virtua Fighter 3 and Dead or Alive 2 on the Android lumix version. Do I install it on the 16gb? Instead of the 64gb sd card? And for me to play it on the android version do I install it on the android lumix version or install it on computer than transfer it to the sd card?? Really need help buddy as I’m very new to this!! Many thanks dude!
Mainly the Odin being my stay at home platform and taking the other 2 with me daily.
what is the largest Micro SD Card will this device support, and also is there a particular brand sd card that you prefer for this device??
Wow, the new Tmnt game on portmaster! =D
I'm wondering if it would be possible to port also Into the breach... 😍
With the 5G WiFi, as long as you have XBOX Game Pass, you could play the new TMNT right away on this device, and then some!
Would be interesting to see what their metal version of this chipset would look like
THIS! ^
@@hugotipple sounds like you and I are on the same exact boat. =)
Did you ever figure out your issue?
@@SoundToxin I did, actually I'm able to play Saturn (with some limitations ofc) but I'm not sure what I did at the time to make it work :D I do not remember.
@@anibalgalindro2551 Hahaha, well glad you got things working at least.
Not used this OS yet but curious if your able to change the boot/loading splash screens? Thanks for all the great vids!
Are the cards for the 351mp interchangeable with this device? The screen size is the same? How different are they internally?
They are quite different, the cards won't be compatible.
Hola gracias por tu contenido… sabes como actualizar androit en la RG353v… algún tutorial o archivos de ayuda 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi, Where do you set 1x Resolution on the YABASANSHIRO, I have the 353P with JELOS and I can't figure out where you set 1x. My saturn games don't run this smooth, actually pretty bad with YABA so I wonder.
Shout out to Chicken 🍗🐱❤️
I've been using it on the RG353V and it works really well! Only thing I can't figure out is where to access the 'edit sort key' option.
jelos wont load. the jelos logo comes up and says loading then the screen goes black. i reload the image. it loads after reloading but then stops loading .
Why wont this OS read second SD slot for RG351V both ArkOS and Amberelec work just fine. but the Jelos boots but won't read the other slot... why is this?
Good day sir i have just flashed jelos OS and there is no theme master in the menu do you have a video turorial on where to get themes and how to install it?
I can't seem to find the auto frameskip option for Flycast/dreamcast, only manual frameskip (selecting how many to skip manually). I am trying on a RG503 with both Jelos and ArkOS. Or is this available on RG353P only?
could you put retro pie on it
