OMG after having a similar Viper installed in my Yukon XL, this video was so satisfying to watch! I especially love that bluetooth siren and the setup via the iPhone. I'm in love with your truck now, sir.
Had my Viper for almost 10 years and it still works great. I have the same sensors plus window roll up and down with the alarm remote. Defroster is also connected and comes on automatically on a remote start if the temperature inside is below 55. I did a video on mine 5 years ago.
I would have to go back to Vista, CA to learn all this new stuff with DEI! I did my MECP's there in 1993 and been out the game since 1996! wow just technology advancing. Good Job Steve.
Never knew about the proximity sensor being that accurate learned something new today! about 3 years ago i had the same viper remote man that thing was so flimsy that on my first day i dropped the remote and the bottom of the remote (charging port) got damaged. i hope the newer remotes are better! but overall great video bro
When I had someone install a DS4+ in one of my cars they told me they couldn't use the old style sensors I wanted added. They'll be getting a return visit now that I know they can and I already own the sensors.
Nice Upgrade bro. Most of the bassheads around me are using Compustar I think a drone module but Ive always been a fan of viper and prestige. Just watching this video made me feel old (Just a little) Overall interesting to see how far alarms have came. Haha I remember the car alarm with the key in the fender and the alarms that talked.
Is the phone app something I can use to program my alarm myself? My local dealer missed/didn't let me know about so many features when I purchased from and had them install the alarm on my sierra. Wish they wouldn't send the rep out here to teach them about it, they didn't know about most features until I pointed them out in the manual .
Good afternoon i know that video it’s from 4 years ago but where it’s this genius located ? I have a 2022 F450 2 different shop have tried to install a Viper alarm on my truck and both ended removing the Alarm because the motion sensor doesn’t work properly 😢 I need someone that’s really knowledgeable on the industry Thanks 🙏
I need help with this, just installed a Viber DS4 for on my 2017 Ford F250 4 x 4 diesel and the remote start only last 30 seconds and then shuts off. I’ve re-flashed the brain of the DS4 several times and change the settings on the dash of the truck, but it won’t stay running longer than 30 seconds.
Each time I watched one of your videos, I get upset that I'm in Florida and you in California. I'm currently upgrading my truck and could REALLY use your technical skill sigh!
Standard siren connects directly to the alarm for power. This one apparently allows you to connect to the battery and is triggered via bluetooth signal. It's nice because trying to find a route through the firewall often times is the biggest challenge in installing car alarms. In fact, every tech would carry a prybar that had a point, and we find a spot on the firewall and punch a hole through for the wires if no path was available. You do not want to drill unless 100% certain you know it is safe to drill.
Hey there, recently my 2020 Jeep was vandalized. Radio and center console completely removed from the car. 4 weeks and 7k later I have my car back. What are your suggestions for extra protection?
recently someone broke into my 1996 dodge, stole my center console, insurance/registration from my glove box, and anything else that was deemed valued. I have ring footage, it happened around 6:30 am and there was some daylight. There was traffic on my street. None of that seemed to deter the thief. I didn't, however, have an alarm system. Perhaps if I did, the damage and theft might have been minimalized.
I just had a 3305V installed at Best Buy. I bought the proximity sensor from Best Buy as well but the installers didnt want to install it because they said that Viper only recommends it for convertibles. I really would like it installed in my truck.
You can absolutely install it in your truck. Here is the issue. If you are in places like Florida, and it rains, the rain running down your windshield may trigger the sensor. Not always. I think it may be due to the warm water on hot days. But there is a way to bypass that sensor with your remote on such occasions.
Since this installation was carried out by a certified Directed technician I want to know how I can increase the idle runtime of my truck from 12 minutes to 20 minutes, it is the 5906 Viper security and remote start model that was installed on my truck.
Just me but those tools on the seats are a no no . Other than that times have changed I remember using latching relays , lightbulbs and capacitors for making car starts with a Clifford with one output.
that's actually 100% correct - DEI needs to retrain that guy. I would cover the seat with a thick cloth, drape the fender on tall vehicles, put down a towel on clean interior floors. Tools never go on the seat or in your pockets.
nice add-ons, what about the content in the bed of your truck is that area also protected? Also don't they have a video recording option I think that would be the last thing to put on a system like that? Thanks for another great video and have a great day
No, it shuts the engine down and kicks in immobilizer as soon as you touch the brake. My SUV has a key, so if I put the key in with it running on remote start and turn the ignition on then push the brake to shift the engine stays running.
it's not super loud in person either. But loud enough. My pager (the remote) and the app (my phone) alerting me is more important. I don't care how loud it is, it will get ignored by the public anyway.
@@AlmightyyCres not true. The impact sensor will pick that up no problem. Any such vibrations will immediately set of DEI sensors. Their equipment is state of the art. I have been a 12 volt tech most my life, specializing in security and remote starts
Hello guys i have a viper DS4 alarm system in my car and I want to buy a smart start Pro on Amazon. if I just plug it to the DS4 will it work or do I need to have it program .. and is it plug and play ? Thanks in Advance...
I’m not really sure how this works but from what I understand if they use a T-harness, it supposedly just plugs into the computer or the alarm system and communicates from there. Otherwise, if not, then they tap into the arm and disarm wire in the keyhole of the door if it has that.
Yes, pretty much any car can have an alarm installed on it, though if the vehicle is carbureted it will not be able to have the remote start function. If it has manual locks, after market door lock actuators can be installed.
So the shock sensor, would that go off if someone was messing with your Cat? I've had mine taken twice now and trying to find something to help me catch the fools.
