It was 28 seconds sat in the intense heat. The car pierced the barrier and got stuck. The halo protected him from been decapitated. But the barrier was above his head trapping him in the car. After many try to get himself free he said he just sat there and accepted fate, and thought about which body part will be the most painful when he’s burning alive. Shit really hits you in the feels.. I watched the race live when it was shown on tv. And it’s the most horrific thing I’ve ever watched. Those 28 seconds were the longest seconds of my life And the best feeling ever seeing him come out over that barrier. After a few months recover involving surgery for his burns on his hands. He decided to join indi car and do it all again.. hard to believe the car is big enough to carry his balls on board.
He probably had the wind knocked out of him hitting that barrier at that speed, so he was probably stunned for the initial few seconds and somehow he STILL had that presence of mind. If someone ever wanted an example of a miracle, THIS was it
Grosjean is now racing in IndyCar and has become one of that series' most popular drivers. Seriously, the cheers he got for finishing SECOND at the Indy Grand Prix were almost as loud as the cheers Helio Castroneves got for winning his 4th Indy 500 a few weeks later. And if you want to REALLY be blown away, look up highlights of his passes at Laguna Seca last year. Dude put on a master show of passing the competition - except for the last one, of course.
I say this every time I see this. Netflix edited this for length. Everything happened way quicker BUT, the way they edited it really does mirror what it feels like when you are there in-person. I've been at tracks when that silence falls, and everything feels so much slower. Netflix really passed that feeling to the viewers.
Not even that but from my memory of watching it on TV that day, it took about the length of the entire video for watchers or the entire pitlane to know if he was ok and out, while in reality he was out when the rest of the field was passing in the background on the way to the pitlane
When you're thrown into dire circumstances - Things always seem to slow down a bit. When I was told I had brain cancer.... I literally felt like I was moving and seeing in slow motion.
I watched this live and even though this is dramatised quite a bit it's close to how it really felt live. The seconds felt like minutes, it was an act of God. Romain himself said in an interview after he was fighting to get out and was about to give up when he saw his kids and family and that gave him the strength to get out and keep fighting
Thanks to the HALO bar for protecting his head. Thanks to the collar for protecting his neck. Thanks to the suit for protecting him from flames. And thanks God to have kept him concious after such an impact and in a position he could get out from there in time
I watched the race live. We had to wait for what felt like a half hour before we even got any images of Grosjean or the crash. Netflix really captured that.
If you watych an interview with him after this accident, he said he wasn't gonna die today. He thought about his kids and that was his drive. His foot was caught under the accelerator pedal and he had to remove his racing boot to get out.
I'd like to mention that as violent as this crash was, the impact was actually at an angle, sort of a diagonal glancing blow. If it was already this destructive at such a shallow impact angle, imagine how much worse it would've been if it was a proper head on impact
Watching this race live and seeing that happen.....I thought no way anything good is coming out of that. He hit the barrier and the car split in two. What you can't see in the Netflix edit is the cockpit was stuck in the guard rail. He hit at that speed and didn't lose consciousness. Miracle #1! Miracle #2 was he was in that fireball for 28 seconds and got out! He had burns to the back of his hands, one of his shoes melted to the rail when he jumped over, and he had some minor bumps n bruises. Romain Grosjean earned the knickname of "the Phoenix " after surviving this crash. He is doing well and driving in the USA in Indy car.
The only thing that unfortunately we can't feel iduring this video is the incredible heat it must be getting around the car. The security staff must feel a burning wall each time they approach Romain's car.
his car hit the metal barrier and cut the car in half he was stuck in the front of the car that halo device on his car saved his life it lasted 28-30 seconds but it felt long
Yea, was really bad. but at least ya not block video with yourself..kept YOU off in corner so we see it..thanks. was really bad and blows my mind how he got out alive..wow.., as you said, no one new where he was..omg..
28 sec while the overall only protects for around 30 sec so it was in the last seconds. While they dramatise, watching it live it took way longer than these 28sec that the viewers know he was fine.
Both to him and to everyone being a spectator of this crash, it felt like an eternity. The "dramatisation" in this case really helps put into perspective how it seemed in the moment.
The dude's racing in IndyCar now and is doing quite well
He does well until another Indy driver drives him into a wall on road/street courses

Right, his must be made of steel because if that was me, I wouldn't even been racing in my gaming console.
He probably had the wind knocked out of him hitting that barrier at that speed, so he was probably stunned for the initial few seconds and somehow he STILL had that presence of mind. If someone ever wanted an example of a miracle, THIS was it
I would like to mention, he looked at the fire and it said hell nah

I remember watching this live...I woke up the whole house yelling at the TV. That was a long 30 seconds watching it all unfold live
"The lord said it wasnt your time to go" AMEN my dude, amen. Loved your reaction. 👌

Turns out I've been here before lol

he suffered very bad burns to his hands
, i’m so glad he didn’t get injured *too* badly !
Made me cry when l saw it happening in the race and it makes me cry every time l saw it since...
The car is now on show, it is insane how damaged it is and to know the injuries he came out with, it is bonkers

At around 2:51 in your video you can just make out Grosjean trying to remove the cockpit surround to try to get out.
I remember that my hand was shaking till the end of that race. That was scary!
Modern technology is amazing.
If it wasn’t for the halo he could’ve been dead, I am glad that he came out alive, Thank you god for letting him get out of that alive.
But 20 sec in that heat is still a lot. The fire marshals in gear still could barely get to the barrier.

Watched this live... my heart stopped completely...

The halo and him not falling unconscious saved him.

Romain Grosjean earned the knickname of "the Phoenix " after surviving this crash. He is doing well and driving in the USA in Indy car.
From what i heard, he sustained major burns to his hands. His suit saved the rest of him. He still races i think. But only Indy cars.
That really was a miracle…….
The only thing that unfortunately we can't feel iduring this video is the incredible heat it must be getting around the car. The security staff must feel a burning wall each time they approach Romain's car.
Those were some of the most lifeless "woooooooooow"s i've ever seen. Holy shit man... What's this dudes BP? Negative?!
God really said "it's not time for you to leave earth yet but time for you to leave formula one" (:
by the way the entrie crash lasted 28 seconds. the netflex video just made it look longer
yes he had minimal burns on both hands his left ankle and his ribs and a few bruises
I have dubbed him Romain "T-1000" Grosjean.
It was only a matter of 28 seconds
Loved that please more f1
Now you know its a bad wreck when they have to go to the pits. There has not been crash like that since 1979 when Niki lauda had his wreck
1976 actually
There have been other serious fatal crashes since 1976. Grosjean's was the first major fire since Lauda at the German GP.
Car don't normally split like that
his car hit the metal barrier and cut the car in half he was stuck in the front of the car that halo device on his car saved his life it lasted 28-30 seconds but it felt long
Yet some people still doubt usefulness of halo.
DtS way over dramatized the thing. Scary, yes.
😢😮scary to watch
Found it lol
React to more f1 crashes
Sorry. MAX FOREFORER
Had nothing to do with god, had to do with good equipment and safetystandards -.-
Yea, was really bad. but at least ya not block video with yourself..kept YOU off in corner so we see it..thanks. was really bad and blows my mind how he got out alive..wow.., as you said, no one new where he was..omg..
It only took 22 sec to get HIM out , drive to survive like to use a lot of drama in there show
20 seconds are a lot in the fire

Dont use the crash to promote your chan
