  • The Department of Veterans Affairs has many online programs to help veterans, but what if you don't have a device to connect to the internet? Even if you go to a public library, it can be difficult to access VA websites because they require a two factor authentication code sent to your personal device. Thankfully, the VA digital divide program can provide FREE tablets and other internet capable devices to eligible veterans. In today's video, I'll explain the basics of the VA Digital Divide program as well as similar non-VA affiliated programs. #veteransbenefits #veteransaffairs #digitaldivide

We had discounted internet with the ACP program but federal government didn't keep it funded so it ended in April this year. $30 dollar credit was a blessing.

I can only imagine that it helped a lot of people, but unfortunately, I don't know when/if the government is going to renew it.

Appreciate information. I have struggled with the 10% VA service connection for 16 years only to be suddenly boosted to 80%. During that time I could barely survive I had to work menial tasks cuz I couldn't find employment being so screwed up and disabled. It would have been a great benefit have had this before then they give up some of my food. As the gentleman noted above the discontinued supplementing the service 4:30 reduction on our phone bill which I use to communicate with the VA for routine service or questions on a almost weekly basis.

You raised an issue about transportation. Recently the VA has begun a program if you're I think 30% rated and above they provide Uber transportation to your medical appointments. That has been a big help for me when I get iron infusions for anemia and they have to give me medicine to counteract the reaction and I'll have to it which makes me heavily sedated period without it I'd be screwed.

most veterans don't have enough money to buy food, they definitely cannot afford internet. They need to provide all veterans with free internet and free food.

Not all veterans are poor and destitute. A VA rated disabled veteran ( at 70% and 30% unemployability and above ratings ) automatically qualify for Social Security Disability. They still have to fight the system though. I am living comfortably as 100% P&T VA Disability and SS Disability recipient. It took 22 years to get my VA Disability then 3 more to get the Social Security disability.

Please don't make claims like this without having any idea what you are talking about. According to a 2019 study by the University of Minnesota, the average veteran income is actually about $11,000 higher than the average American.
I am a disabled combat veteran with two tours in Iraq and moderate to severe service connected PTSD. I make about 160k a year. Income alone is not a good indicator of mental health.

@FJB4LIFE Keep your head up, man. I wasn't far from what you are describing a few years ago, and I'm doing quite a bit better now. There are a lot of programs like this to help you along the way.
Not that this is your path, but for me, it took years of therapy, daily mindfulness and exercise, quitting self medicating with alcohol and weed, finding a new direction for my life, and letting go of a whole lot of guilt. No matter what happened over there for you, it was a great service to our country.

How? From what I see it was the same. I sure didn't see folks stop complaining about the VA when he was in office.
Biden is seeking a $33 Billion dollar boost for the VA for next year. That's almost as much as the increase for the entire time under Trump.
Some folks let their politics cloud their reality.
