Love the depth of your reviews, and DAMN you've got some stunning scenery in those shots (particularly the one above the clouds, with the mini snow monsters everywhere)
really helpful review! Exactly what I need. Just a side note: as an exercise, before you start recording your voice (it's good by the way :) right a script and try some vocal exercises, so your vocal cords and facial musculature is ready for clear annunciation :)
Hi, I also have osmo pocket. Love the quality in the small build. But when I shoot someone snowboarding using follow mode, I found it hard to keep it to look at where I want it to look at. Sometimes when after all the filming was done, back to my computer and checked the footage, all I see is after few seconds it loves to gradually pointing upward. With the viewing display that small, I can't look at it while riding. seeing your footage that great using tilt locked mode, it makes me wanna try that too. I thought the locked mode would keep the camera head straight. if your ride bud is going down a slope with different steepness, it would be hard to adjust the camera head to catch your target. anyway, great review.
Yeah it definitely takes a bit to get used to, I would adjust the lens so that it was fairly flat/horizontal when the camera was pointing at the person riding, so as long as my hand was pointing it kept them roughly in frame. I have gotten some pretty good results with the locked mode, then angling the lens down a little to cancel out the steepness of the slope.
Hi Snowboard Robot, thanks for the review. What will you recommend as an invisible selfie stick 360 camera. I think you recommended the Insta360 ONE X, is that right? Is that what you’re using at your videos? Regards, Eran.
Hi Eran, yeah I use the insta360 one x for all the selfie footage in my other videos, I like it quite a lot, but it is first 360 camera I have ever used, so I don't have much to compare it to. I don't have any real complaints about it, I use it with the invisible selfie stick and it gets quite nice footage especially when it is sunny. I am planning on making a proper review of it in the next week.
Hey man, great footage with the Osmo Pocket! I can't wait till the season returns, everything is down for the year here in Canada. How much time do you get per charge in the cold? Appreciate the help!
Thanks! I actually never did run out of battery, though whenever it wasn't filming it was in the case, and in a pocket to stop if from getting too cold. I probably wouldn't film more than 30 minutes in a day, spread out over 3 or 4 runs, but I think you could get closer to an hour in the cold without a problem. I was almost always filming in 4k60, when I first bought it I did everything in 1080 60, and it seemed like it would go forever.
@@SnowboardRobot That's great to hear, I use the InstaOneX and it can be a major pain to change the batteries when it's freezing! I was watching some of your other videos and you make really great content. Any chance you would want to do a review for us too?
Wondered if you’d looked at the pocket2 yet, I’m considering it as opposed to snowboarding with a pole. At least with the pocket it’s not as obvious that your filming.
I did, it does look a whole bunch better, though my original one is still going strong. Once you get used to the narrower field of view, the results are worth it, but you will end up wasting a bit with people going out of frame by mistake at the start. You can't really beat the size either.
Hey mate, I just came across a couple of your videos. I love how you review the products. Especially your video on the cartels. What time of the year did you film this? The resort and the conditions look mint. Living in Australia where we do not get terrain and conditions like this, so Im trying to find places worth visiting so I can ride.
Thanks! Most of this was filmed in Dec-Feb at Big White in BC, though I used quite a bit of footage from sunny days where everything looks pretty nice. It is definitely worth visiting, though is is grey and foggy quite often there - but the tradeoff is that is is pretty quiet and empty most of the time anyway.
Thanks! I never did, because ti field of view was too narrow to nicely show snowboarding, so I just used my 360 cam for that sort of stuff. I have gotten a wide angle lens for the osmo since then, but it isn't crazy wide so I think it would still be pretty hard to get nice riding footage.
Did you had any problems in cold weather like ( freezing image, or distorted film ) like I have with my GoPro's ? I'm trying to change my equipment from GoPro cause GoPro is never working properly on cold condition.. I cannot film anything while skiing or snowboarding..
No I haven't had any problems with any of my main 3 cameras, though I am never leave them out. I would keep them in a warm pocket, take them out to film and then as soon as I am done back in the pocket. I have looked at the enduro cold weather battery for my GoPro too, but haven't bought one yet.
Yeah it had no issues, though at most it would be out filming for maybe 5 minutes, then back in the case and into the warm pocket, which must have been helping the battery life.
I haven't dropped it from very far without being in the case, but it has fallen over from being on a little tripod a few times - so far nothing major has happened. This winter (aus) it has gotten really wet when I have been filming out in rain/snow, and even though I try and avoid getting it wet, nothing has gone wrong so far, but I make sure to leave it in a warm room for a while to let it completely dry once I am inside before turning it on again.
It would be a good idea, but I have never had mine covered and it has been a couple of years with no problems at all, so you can definitely get away with it if you need to.
@@SnowboardRobot thank you for your reply. cuz i dont think i'll use it underwater as i have another action camera for that, but wanna use it for snowboarding. thanks!
I haven't had any problems yet, and it has been covered in powder plenty of times, and has been rained on. I try and avoid it, but if it does get snow on it or gets wet, I just put it back in the case and leave it in my pocket.
This was all the pocket 1, mostly filmed in 4k 60 except for the slow motion stuff. Since making this video I have used an nd filter for the really sunny days, the results are really good for a camera this small.
@@SnowboardRobot so i guess pocket 2 must be better, cause i m thinking of buying it, only fear is the crashes ... i find it too fragile so i m thinking of it
No I never used a case on it - it seemed to do fine in the cold weather and occasionally getting covered in snow. It is definitely a bit riskier riding with it, if you crashed and landed on the gimbal I doubt it would survive, but I think it was worth the risk.
Love the depth of your reviews, and DAMN you've got some stunning scenery in those shots (particularly the one above the clouds, with the mini snow monsters everywhere)

haha I totally recognized Big White!!!
Nice footage. Stick a Scotty Makes Stuff full case around it, it makes it so much better to hold. Regards
Ahh thanks, I'll have a look at that case.
Hi sir, do you use an anti-glare filter for your DJI pocket shoots?
Nah most of the time I either use the osmo pocket with no filter at all, or the wide angle magnetic lens.

@@SnowboardRobot when you say case are you referring to the waterproof one? I’m curious if there’s another case that the pocket can go into

I'm assuming that was 1080 @ 240fps? Or less?
The slow motion was 1080 @ 120fps, I was never able to get the firmware that let some people have a 200fps option.

I haven't had any problems yet, and it has been covered in powder plenty of times, and has been rained on. I try and avoid it, but if it does get snow on it or gets wet, I just put it back in the case and leave it in my pocket.
