There 12 ga. was hard to hold and made a follow up shot untimely. I went to the 20 ga. and found it very controllable. Great house protection and travel gun in my RV.
Yamil that retro model is what I keep at my bedside. I found that cheap buckshot works best because premium buckshot just doesn’t spread. When we used these in the 1980s we would mount an M1 carbine sling on the gun. You could sling it under a large coat and pull the tab to drop it down for use.
@@thealsatian4232 well yeah its gonna go off its just the way that its shaped (near the part where the projectiles come out, the thing that opens up, the lip i think) that could cause some cycling issues, maybe thats only a worry for semi autos🤷♂️
I personally like the way high velocity turkey shot shoots. Not a lot of penetration but you can saw something in half pretty quick. I keep two slugs at the end for emergency range.
@@yrsued no doubt. I have a cotton M1 Carbine sling on mine since that was the way we carried those guns in the 1980s. But a nice leather strap with a pull the dot connector would work nicely. @@yrsued on the M1 carbine sling, there is a lift the dot connector that threads right through the slot in the forward sling hanger. *FOR A BETTER GRIP ONTO WOOD... Try applying PINE TAR (or PINE TAR blended with LINSEED OIL) to your WOOD & your LEATHER gloves. It is a very OLD wood preservative that actually works. Loggers, tradesmen & Baseball players use PINE TAR on wooden handles 'for a better grip' and to preserve the wood.*
I have this one. I shoot 2 3/4 slugs. It has a lot of power. You really need a strong grip and strong upper body muscles. Because it will jump out of your hand. It also needs a leather strap attached on the wooden slide.
I used to own the Mossberg 500 “Cruiser/Persuader” model and it had the door breach style muzzle, and i put a sweet 12” length of pull (short) Hogue overmolded synthetic stock and a magpull forend with a magpul angled forend grip and let me tell you what, I really miss that shotty. Definitely had the look of being mean and with that shorter than average stock it was super compact even with a full 18.5” barrel.
I have one and love it, looks, shoots great…I stippled the wood grip and forearm with a wood burner/engraver for more grip and it works great for me…also installed a leather sling…good video 👍
Yamil R. Sued yeah you did for sure. Just pointing out that with groups that tight you still need to aim. A lot of people think ‘shotgun’ and they just hold it in the direction and they’ll hit whatever is in the vicinity.
Yes, you can put a Raptor Grip on an 870 Wingmaster, but DO NOT put a shorter Barrel on it, that would be illegal, ONLY the "Firearm" Receiver can be Configured this way.
@@yrsued No, I didn’t put a shorter barrel on it, as it’s not an AOW. But I did cut it to the legal 18”, and removed the mag tube plug. Thanks, good video, brother…✝️👍🏻
@@yrsued I may just leave it the way it is, I kinda like the RealTree fore end and stock it has. Maybe I’ll convert a Mossberg Maverick 88, a 500, or a Savage 320 security. I am planning on getting a cut down leather saddle sheath for it, attach my Ontario Camp Plus machete to the side of it. Attach all that to a leather 24 shell bandolier, so I can carry it on my back. They do make shorty leather sheaths for back carry, for the 590 Shockwaves, or Tac 14’s. You can get them on eBay.
I doubt you can find one at a decent price!! After the Remington Bankruptcy, I don't know if the new Rem Arms Company is making these. Honestly, I don't know!! One thing is their website and another thing is what's being made and sent to store!!
1200 FPS buckshot? that sounds like really weak target round to me (my local gun store sells 1200 FPS buck and slug in those mini shells) never seen an actual full size shell to be so low on velocity. Usually regular #4 or #00 will have starting FPS of 1450 and goes up from there, slugs and sabots 1700 fps and up, these sure are target (low recoil) loads c'mon shoot real magnum rounds! :P much love from Canada
Yes, there isa 1400 FPS Buck shot, but have you tried to accurately shoot that ammo on a 13" barreled firearm with no stock?? Please give it a try and get back to me when you get out of the ER and the multiple stitches on your forehead...
Love the retro look of the wood stocked 870 & 590
Yes, IMHO, the way to go on both!
So nice. Great truck and home defence gun.
Easily stored for your Truck or home, by the bed!!

You are 100% correct there, the 20GA is so much more controllable!!
It's great to go camping with it. It fits in my backpack
This is a great backpacking firearm!!
Can you replace pistol grip with regular wooden 870 stock?
With the retro look it reminds me of a 1950s sawed off.
This was more towards the US Marshalls shotgun

The version with the wood furniture is so much easier for me to use. I can easily hold onto the stocks and I hit better.
