- This is my video on the history of Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night in England on November the 5th
Remember, remember, the 5th of November
In 1605, Guy Fawkes and his friends wanted to blow up important buildings in London where the King and his leaders were so someone else would rule England instead. He was caught before he did this so nobody was hurt, and it’s because of him that we celebrate Bonfire Night on 5 November.
Top 5 Guy Fawkes facts
1. 5 November is known as Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night.
2. Guy Fawkes was born on 13 April 1570 in York, and died on 31 January 1606 in London.
3. It was actually Robert Catesby who led the Gunpowder Plot, not Guy Fawkes - there were 13 people involved.
4. The job Guy Fawkes had in the Gunpowder Plot was to guard the 36 barrels of gunpowder that had been stored in a basement underneath the House of Lords.
5. Guy Fawkes was arrested in the basement on the day he was going to light the gunpowder, 5 November, and he was taken to the Tower of London.

Another fun video for the children, they really do seem to remember all the facts when there's a video representation. Good work!!
+Aprendiom Escola D'idiomes With all of today's technology, it's what they are accustomed to I guess.

+Eva Mari Thank you! Merci :-)
Interesting take, but full of inaccuracies. Nothing to do with the people not wanting James I on the throne. Fawkes was an early religious fundamentalist, who wanted a Catholic king, instead of a Protestant one, and it was a small group of conspirators, including Fawkes (he wasn't hired, he was an integral part of the conspiracy) who plotted to blow up parliament. Fawkes was tortured and gave up the names of the conspirators, and subsequently died on his way to be executed by unhinged, drawing and quartering. Perhaps how he was to die could be sanisitsed, but sanitising the entire story to fit a more moderate narrative is rubbish. Kids will never learn from history if they don't know what actually happened.
I teach English and I appreciate that you say the with the 'ow' sound, but I had to play the video at .75 speed for them because you speak quite quickly. Great video! :)

Anyone else think Guy Fawkes was a hero and not a villain?
My borthday is on this. Day lucky meh
Happy Birthday
This is mostly accurate, but not 100%. Watch the BBC doc "Gunpowder, Treason and Plot".
Actually he did betray his friends. it was from him, we got the list of name of the conspirators.
