    Thanks for the video 👍. I just did the filter change to T5.1 2010. I filled the new filter by the VF port with diesel until it spilt over. Then removed the old filter, and mounted new one to place and added more diesel until spill over again. After fastening the screws, I tried the priming once with ignition but did not hear any gurgling noises. On the second time I (accidentally) started it and it run perfectly normally. I read in the comments that on T5.1 it needs to be filled first because T5.1 is a common rail engine.

    Thank you. So much more detail than other videos. I crapped myself when the engine cut out on the first time. I initially used another video which didn't warn about this happening. You saved my bacon (and scorning from my wife 🤣)

    Thank you very much. Very helpful video even after 4 years. I turned the key about 6 times and started immediately. Didn't turned off after so it went pretty smoothly.

    Very helpful, thanks!
    I added injector cleaner on the VF port with a syringe. 325ml of Wynn's (although there was space for more), single turn of the key until the glow plug lights went off and it fired straight up and didn't stall.
    A little lumpy for a few seconds with the cleaner running through but very happy!

    With newer T5, you need to pre-fill the filter manually, or run the pump by suitable computer/tester before starting.

    Many thanks for this tutorial. I will consider to move the coolant tank to the left side though. Great tip with marking those diesel hoses connected with the filter👌

    Filter has locator notch on bottom for correct position/orientation, better either to fill with diesel prior to crank or correct way using VCDS to run lift pump continuous. You can hear it prime and clear air

    Attempting to prime lines and filter by cranking engine runs the risk of running the high volume pump dry and damaging injectors, that’s why it’s recommended to prime using VCDS unit to operate low volume pump.

      For some reason vcds doesn't manage to prime on this van.. tried the process 10 times in a row last time and it still requires just as much cranking to get it to fire. All good now tho, not had to do any work on it this summer.

      I have tried priming with VCDS, but for some reason my settings wont keep the pump running long enough to prime it.

    I have looked at other people who gave done this and in the comments it says you should manually fill up the filter prior to fitting it !?! Mine is a 2013 van

      I've replaced many of these and never done that. Never had any troubles other than the initial start up after fitting. Pre-filling it would reduce the time it takes to crank it up after changing. Up to you

      @@DanSohan Its best practice to prefill them. Saves all the cranking

    • @DanSohan
      @DanSohan  4 года назад

      @@chatlow the one with a clip on it? It might just have an O-ring on it could be replaced? But dont use any sealer on the fuel system side as it could block the injectors badly.

    • @chatlow

      @@DanSohan yes thats the one. Clip holds the sensor in there, sealed with an o ring. Mine leaked fuel when i was checking the sensor, but seems okay now after refitting it.

    What do the letters on the filter stand for?

    • @Wildearthcampers
      @Wildearthcampers 4 года назад +1

      as you look at them - left, fuel out to tandem pump - right, fuel from tank to filter - back, return to tank - front, return from engine. Hope that helps!? watch this and it will tell you a bit more - ruclips.net/video/PvCgxp6d8uo/видео.html

    you could have made things far easier by moving header bottle to the left instead of the way you did it.

    If you change fuel filter like you showed-you killed this engine, because common rail don't like air inside.
