I think this is one of Tom's best movies. Love his action stuff, but this fit both his personality and strengths of his acting skills well. Another movie which is very underrated but one of his best performances is Collateral. Hope you might watch that someday.
Collateral is such a masterpiece as well. I definitely echo your sentiments. Although you have to admit that Tom has been damn good in a great many movies. Mission Impossible 3 was a damn great performance as well. To be able to hold your own in a room with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and not be overshadowed is pretty legendary I'd say. Collateral is overall my preference as far as movies go (which is saying quite a lot), but I'm not sure it showcases his skills better than MI:3 did. Tough call though, his performance was definitely great and more nuanced in Collateral. I'd say for the average viewer MI:3 is a must-watch Tom Cruise movie, but if you appreciate all the little details then Collateral may well be his superior performance. He's just so magnetic on the screen in pretty much every part he plays though.
This is the BEST reaction to this movie. So satisfying. She got EVERY JOKE. A lot of reactors either don’t get the jokes or don’t laugh (probably because they don’t understand it was a joke). Love her.
You should watch 12 Angry Men (1957) since you loved this film. That play which was adapted to film is considered the quintessential American courtroom drama.
2:48, this actor is John M. Jackson playing Captain West. A few years after this movie came out he was a costar on a tv show called JAG. JAG told the story of a team of Judge Advocate General (JAG) officers in the US Navy. Jackson played their commanding officer Admiral A. J. Chegwidden the Judge Advocate General for the entire US Navy and Marine Corps. Because Tom Cruise portrayed a US Navy pilot in Top Gun and a US Navy JAG officer in this film, veteran tv producer Donald Bellisario came up with an awesome idea - "What if Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun and A Few Good Men was the same person?" So JAG was launched in 1995 and ran for 10 seasons. A lot of the show was courtroom dramas like A Few Good Men. But also the show did a great job of portraying the life issues of US Navy personnel and their families. From JAG was launched a spinoff called NCIS. NCIS portrayed stories dealing with the criminal investigative units for the US Navy and Marines. NCIS has actually ran longer than JAG and spun off many sister shows that take place all around the US and Australia.
Believe it or not, this is based on the true story of William Alvarado. He was a Marine stationed at Guantanamo Bay and was the victim of a code red. He was attacked by 10 other marines and was tied and gagged. During the code red, he began to choke and cough up blood. The code red was ended and the Marines did get help. Alvarado survived and one of the Marines, David Cox and 2 others choice to stand trial stating that they were under orders, like in the movie. Cox was found guilty of assault and served 30 days. He finished his service and left the Marines in 1989. He did see this movie and some of the other Marines involved, I believed sued Castle Rock entertainment. David Cox disappeared in 1994. The American TV show "Unsolved Mysteries" did a segment on this incident.
Yup. Aaron Sorkin's sister was the one who defended the marines. The idea for the film came from a conversation they had. You could argue Daniel Kaffee is based on his sister Deborah. 10/10 film for sure 🙂

30:35, the director Rob Reiner said in the original script that there was a whole romance subplot between Kaffee and Galloway. However, he decided that having these two officers be in love was unnecessary so he removed it from the movie. Quite frankly I think the subplot would have cheapened both characters as she is his superior officer. So I totally agree with it not being in the movie.
I worked at a theater when this film came out. The "oregano" bit was a great experience. Once the movies would start we began our lobby work and breaks would start. Not much else to do on break then go grab a seat and watch 15-20 minutes of the movie. I always would hear the punchline of that bit. Finally on a a day off I was able to watch the whole movie. For some reason I was the only one who laughed at the set up of that bit on the ballfield.
This was the launch pad for Aaron Sorkin, who wrote this as a play for Broadway first, then the screenplay. Sorkin is now one of the most respected and desired screenwriters in Hollywood, and has even gone back to the stage at times as well. His films The Social Network (which earned him an Oscar), The American President, Moneyball, Molly's Game, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Steve Jobs, along with the TV series he created like Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Newsroom, and the beloved The West Wing are all a testament to his talents as a writer. Dawson was not a trained actor, in fact, he was a location scout for the director's production company and read for the role because the director couldn't find anyone for the part. He knocked it out of the park. All actors, even with this film, are required to learn their lines letter perfect because of the rhythm of the dialogue that Sorkin writes. No improvisation or "ums", "ahs" or "wells" are allowed. Jack Nicholson did not work for very many days on the film, but during the big courtroom scene, he was on set doing everyone else's prompts at full power, as if the camera was on him and not the other actors in the scene who were on camera. then when the camera was on him, he did it just exactly as he did it for everyone else. The consequences of lying in court and/or under oath only apply if you get caught lying. Lying under oath is "perjury" and is usually punishable in the military by 1) 5 years confinement, 2) Dishonorable discharge, and 3) Forfeiture of all pay and and allowances. In the military, honesty is more becoming of a soldier than lying. And Lt. Kaffee was right when he said it doesn't matter what he believes, it only matters what he can prove. The movie featured one of the best scenes in movies, with a heavily parradied/mimicked lines "You can't handle the truth!" Chances are you heard the line before despite never having watched the movie! It also featured a parade of actors who would go on to have pretty good careers!
Another splendid movie reaction, this is my 6th video of yours, having watched The Kings Speech, Forrest Gump, Schindlers List, Superman and The Karate Kid! You are my favorite reactor. In a couple of your vids you mention you aren’t saying enough because you are at a loss for words. Don’t let this bother you. Most would agree that talking less is better than constantly over talking. Don’t forget that we can see you and all your facial reactions and you are communicating non verbally too. Your timing is impeccable. It drives me crazy when others talk over the most important line of dialogue because they won’t shut up, whereas we the viewers, who have seen the movie…sometimes several times know the reactor just missed the most important part of the scene! Keep the videos coming. I love the old movies, the classics and there is no shortage of movies to choose from!!! Dios le bendiga!!
"You can't handle the truth" gets all the attention, but Jack has several better lines in this brilliant movie. 8:20 is one of them. 🤣 15:30 And there's another one. 😂 18:20 And this bit is Legendary. 🤣🤣🤣
25:40 - I read somwhere (the internet is a really big place) that a romance between Galoway and Keefe had been considered, but eventually was cut down from the film, either taken out of the script or edited out during the cutting phase.
The whole point of Nathan's monologue before his admission, was to show those present in the courtroom the true nature of his character. We as the audience saw the level of arrogance he harbours behind closed doors, in his meeting with Kendrick and Markinson on the topic of 'training' Santiago.
Yes! I've been hearing the name Christopher Guest associated with modern roles so often, I forgot that he is the same guy from one of the funniest movies of my college years.
You know film, Centane. I visit your channel again and again . Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson I love it all This movie was originally a play by the way. Rob Reiner, the director, never lets us forget that. The guy's an artist Good on him
this movie starts out kind of light hearted then like a riptide pulls you in, terrific performances by all of them. You may know by now that Jessup's line at the and was supposed to be "you don't want the truth" but he ad-libbed it to "you can't handle the truth" pure genius. But I enjoyed the review, have a good day!
Possibly Aaron Sorkin's best screenplay, and that is saying a lot. If you like dialogue-heavy movies by the same guy, I'm a big fan of "Steve Jobs". It is just non-stop witty banter, zingers, and near mental-breakdowns!
That one scene, "you can't handle the truth" has been well known in pop culture, maybe not so much in the last few yrs but this is a great movie. Great reaction, i like your hair like that, looks nice
It’s been a while since the last time I seen your channel , this should be a good one . Your English has improved so much so congrats. Let’s see the reaction . 🙏🏽
Fantastic film with a stellar cast. And has one of the most quoted lines in cinema history. The story is inspired by true events. Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the play and then the film, has a sister, Deborah, who is a lawyer. She spent some time in the JAG Corps. and was tasked with defending marines who had assaulted a fellow marine. The marine didn't die in the real-life version, though quite a few of the facts are used, in some fashion, in the film. Worth checking out. If you like Tom Cruise movies, I suggest Rain Man, Eyes Wide Shut, and ofc, the Mission Impossible series 🙂
Both enlisted Marines would have walked in the real world, or have had charges downgraded to be charged with assault. The only "unbecoming conduct" charge in the UCMJ is article 133, and it applies to commissioned officers only, not enlisted members.
33:57 ..."Doesn't he get something out of there, like a consequence?"...Only if the lie is proven, something quite difficult in a case of "He said this, he said that"
If you haven't watched the Jack Reacher movies then you should. You would enjoy them. They feature Tom Cruise. Since Downey wasn't in the room at the time I guess you could say that Kendrick wasn't lying when he said he didn't order THEM to give the code red. It's semantics. You would also enjoy "Stir Of Echoes" with Kevin Bacon if you've never seen it. A thriller with a super natural element. Also "Tremors" a really fun monster movie.
39:29, Jessup is ego tripping right here. Kaffee isn't a civilian lawyer. He is a fellow officer in the US military. Sure he isn't a combatant but he swore the same oath as Jessup to defend this country.
Fun fact: Kendrick (K. Sutherland) didn't perjure himself when asked if he ordered Dawson AND Downey to commit the Code Red. He only ordered Dawson to. That's a story plot hole intentionally added to fk with audiences
@@clevelandcbi guess what else no one has caught... Noah Wylie. His testimony involves talk of a code red. He doesn't prep his hands with resin and drops his weapon then gets punched in his arm. Sound familiar?? Hint: Ponder another famous "Noah" in another movie about "good men"

Great reaction. Great editing. There was a lot of talking on this movie so is understandable that you don't have things to react. But is good that you pay attention and absorb the story line. When Jack Nickolson wasn't answering the question I was worried you were going to miss something because you kept repeating "he has to answer the question". Just trust the movie. Enjoy the drama.
The studio wanted a love scene between Cruise and Moore but both actor's refused. They said the story doesn't need it. They were right glad they stood their ground.

Hi Kamilla, great reaction. Another lighter courtroom dramedy I would like to suggest is My Cousin Vinny. Ralph Macchio, Joe Pesci, & Marissa Tomei. I know you would enjoy it.
Dawson was given an unlawful order and he in turn gave Downey an unlawful order. By obeying it, that was how they were found guilty for Conduct Unbecoming. Plus they disobeyed the directive about Code Reds. Most everyone misses the fact that Santiago had not packed. It takes a while to pack your gear the way you are supposed to and doing it at the last minute isn't a good idea.
5:13 am Central time. The Weather Channel just now mentioned 2 Major League spring training games involving 3 teams mentioned in A Few Good Men: MN Twins vs Baltimore Orioles, and Atlanta Braves vs Red Sox. Creepy, Spooky or just plain coincidence??
I like the complexity of this film. The characters and the issues are not black and white, there's a lot of gray area. Jessup wasn't just a bad guy movie villain, he had a tough job and a big responsibility to defend this American outpost and he acted according to his principles to accomplish that mission. But he crossed the line and had to be brought to account for what he did, even though the JAG lawyers grudgingly grew to respect his dedication to his mission. The two Marines were victims, acting under orders, but also had to bear responsibility for their part in the killing for following an illegal order and not putting a stop to it. To me the overriding theme of the movie is that we have to bear responsibility for our actions, even if well-intentioned. I loved the salutes at the end, they finally earned each others respect.
Kamilla, forgive me if someone already mentioned this but the movie gets its title from a popular recruitment slogan for the Marines which was “We’re Looking For a Few Good Men”.
Anyone who likes courtroom dramas like this, might like Runaway Jury, and My Cousin Vinny. Maybe also Anatomy Of A Murder. And of course Chicago, from 2002, with Zeta-Jones, Zellweger, and Gere! 🙂
I would suggest that they need people who are professionals on that wall and not narcissistic psychopaths who single-mindedly believe it's their way or the highway.
Great reaction! Think you would love the 1957 film 12 Angry Men, considered one of the best films ever made, great courtroom drama. Take care , many blessings
Great movie. You should see other legal dramas like Rainmaker 1997 or Civil Action . Also a great lawyer movie with Tom Cruz is The Firm. and Murder At First 1995 a movie based on true movie about injustice. Also Erin Brucvich is a great movie. Fyi I recently learned the real story that this movie is based on is very strange and shocking for one thing the Santiago character did not die. The Dawson character dies in a real strange way. Also a great boxing movie with the Downey (James Marshell) character is Gladiator 1992.

Chances are you heard the line before despite never having watched the movie!
MUCHAS GRACIAS 🥹💓💓 I truly do appreciate it ☺️
@@Centane Yw…btw, you honor your dad!
“You can’t handle the truth!”
"No truth-handler, you. I deride your truth-handling abilities."
"You can't handle the truth" gets all the attention, but Jack has several better lines in this brilliant movie. 8:20 is one of them. 🤣
15:30 And there's another one. 😂
18:20 And this bit is Legendary. 🤣🤣🤣
Another Great Movie that Kevin Bacon Plays a Marine is "Taking Chance" (2009)...
Taking Chance is highly underrated.
I wish more would watch it. It's just done so well and absolutely respectfully of the subject matter.
it starts off quite dry but having been in the military, there was some emotional scenes
25:40 - I read somwhere (the internet is a really big place) that a romance between Galoway and Keefe had been considered, but eventually was cut down from the film, either taken out of the script or edited out during the cutting phase.
I’m glad you decided to react to movies
The whole point of Nathan's monologue before his admission, was to show those present in the courtroom the true nature of his character. We as the audience saw the level of arrogance he harbours behind closed doors, in his meeting with Kendrick and Markinson on the topic of 'training' Santiago.
The actor who plays the base doctor also plays lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel in This is Spinal Tap.
Yes! I've been hearing the name Christopher Guest associated with modern roles so often, I forgot that he is the same guy from one of the funniest movies of my college years.
More people should watch The West Wing, I feel it's a forgotten masterpiece of a show with the younger generations.
Another overlooked show was J.A.G (Judge Advocate General). it was kinda like the pre-quel series for how NCIS came about
@@TrickyDicky2006JAG was inspired by this film. It also helps that series creator Donald Bellsario was in the military before getting into TV.
You know film, Centane.
I visit your channel again and again .
Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson
I love it all
This movie was originally a play by the way. Rob Reiner, the director, never lets us forget that.
The guy's an artist
Good on him
this movie starts out kind of light hearted then like a riptide pulls you in, terrific performances by all of them. You may know by now that Jessup's line at the and was supposed to be "you don't want the truth" but he ad-libbed it to "you can't handle the truth" pure genius. But I enjoyed the review, have a good day!
I think you are the first reactor to edit out the “You can’t handle the truth.” You are such a rebel. Hehe.
Great choice Centane! I hope you have a marvelous week!
Possibly Aaron Sorkin's best screenplay, and that is saying a lot. If you like dialogue-heavy movies by the same guy, I'm a big fan of "Steve Jobs". It is just non-stop witty banter, zingers, and near mental-breakdowns!
"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" 😂
Used that line on my wife many times!
Great movie!
That one scene, "you can't handle the truth" has been well known in pop culture, maybe not so much in the last few yrs but this is a great movie.
Great reaction, i like your hair like that, looks nice
You can watch Kevin Pollock in the movie Grumpy Old Men and the sequel Grumpier Old Men. Two great movies.
Ricochet with Denzel, too.
Both father & brother are Marines so always enjoyed this movie, great reaction.
It’s been a while since the last time I seen your channel , this should be a good one . Your English has improved so much so congrats. Let’s see the reaction . 🙏🏽
Hello there! Such an enormous acting by Jack Nicholson! Look at this face impressions! Voice tone! Everything is so natural!
Best writer in the world - Aaron Sorkin, and major props to Rob Reiner for directing it and keeping it mostly as originally written as a play.
Ideas for a Demi Moore poll:
*Disclosure (1994)*
*Striptease (1996)*
*G.I. Jane (1997)*
*Flawless (2007)*
*Margin Call (2011)*
The JAG tv show's lead was two Tom Cruise characters mashed together, Top Gun and this.
"Everyone's lying under oathe."
Hasn't gotten any better...
Great reaction!
Both enlisted Marines would have walked in the real world, or have had charges downgraded to be charged with assault. The only "unbecoming conduct" charge in the UCMJ is article 133, and it applies to commissioned officers only, not enlisted members.
Jack Nicholson is the standout but Cruise was also really great. This and Born on the 4th of July shows you how great of an actor he is.
28:22 Dr Stone is giving me Dr Snell (Callan) vibes
I've seen this a quarter of a century back, like 5 times at least. Still holds water to this day.
It ages well....Jessup openly admitting it is kinda fake but SOOO satisfying.
33:57 ..."Doesn't he get something out of there, like a consequence?"...Only if the lie is proven, something quite difficult in a case of "He said this, he said that"
I am writing this to help out kamilla and this video and this channel with the algorithm🥰
Hope my reply does the same.

I miss the 90s. That decade gave us some of the greatest films of all time. This was definitely one of them.
39:29, Jessup is ego tripping right here. Kaffee isn't a civilian lawyer. He is a fellow officer in the US military. Sure he isn't a combatant but he swore the same oath as Jessup to defend this country.
“All I have to eat are YooHoo and Coco puffs so if you want something else, you better bring it yourself.”
Fun fact:
Kendrick (K. Sutherland) didn't perjure himself when asked if he ordered Dawson AND Downey to commit the Code Red.
He only ordered Dawson to.
That's a story plot hole intentionally added to fk with audiences
Damn, I never caught that!!
@@clevelandcbi no one has.

Noah Wylie.
His testimony involves talk of a code red.
He doesn't prep his hands with resin and drops his weapon then gets punched in his arm.

I just found you! I enjoyed your reactions and think you are absolutely lovely! I'm on board!
In this movie Nicholson offered a master class about portraying an evil character.
I ordered the Mountain Dew Code Red!!
"Why is everyone so rude?"
That's just the way we Marines are. We don't sugarcoat things. Being in the Marine Corps is being in a love/hate relationship, lol.
We also like to eat crayons. Blue is my favorite flavor.
I enjoyed your review. You 'got' all the military humor and really seemed to enjoy the movie.

Hi Kamilla, great reaction. Another lighter courtroom dramedy I would like to suggest is My Cousin Vinny. Ralph Macchio, Joe Pesci, & Marissa Tomei. I know you would enjoy it.
I forgot how damn funny it was. Watched it last year for the first time in 20+ years. Spit out my drink when he started blasting away at that owl😂😂😂
The Weather Channel just now mentioned 2 Major League spring training games involving 3 teams mentioned in A Few Good Men:
MN Twins vs Baltimore Orioles, and Atlanta Braves vs Red Sox.
I don't understand the need to defend Guantanamo Bay. Are the Cubans besieging it? Do the Cubans need it to launch an invasion of the mainland US?
GREAT MOVIE! I was U.S. Marine. Very realistic with training and code
Kamilla, forgive me if someone already mentioned this but the movie gets its title from a popular recruitment slogan for the Marines which was “We’re Looking For a Few Good Men”.
Written by Aaron Sorkin who did The West Wing, The Newsroom and The Social Network
As a Gen X'er, this is the most quotable movie of all time and "YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
Anyone who likes courtroom dramas like this, might like Runaway Jury, and My Cousin Vinny. Maybe also Anatomy Of A Murder. And of course Chicago, from 2002, with Zeta-Jones, Zellweger, and Gere! 🙂
A Few Good Reactors, and Kamilla is one of the best, if not "the" best! Always enjoy watching you react and look forward to your next.
one thing I agree with the Commander , was he's statement about the wall 'you need me on that wall' nothing else about him I agreed with
I would suggest that they need people who are professionals on that wall and not narcissistic psychopaths who single-mindedly believe it's their way or the highway.
Great reaction! Think you would love the 1957 film 12 Angry Men, considered one of the best films ever made, great courtroom drama. Take care , many blessings
"YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" to bad you had that iconic line from hollywood edited out. but great reaction.
NEVER WOULD BE MADE TODAY. When movies were good.
Absolutely fantastic reaction. ♥️ and best wishes.
Probably a role that best suited Cruise.
Also a great boxing movie with the Downey (James Marshell) character is Gladiator 1992.
your reaction was right on point as for the commander I believe we could say his arrogance did him in
Ahhhhhh you or the edit person cut out one of Theeee most famous quotes in Cinematic History!!! "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"‼️ Oh Well. Thanks for trying 😢 Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Kevin Bacon is one of the bravest actors of our time. He played a convicted child molester who tries to rebuild his life after prison in "The Woodsman" (2004). The film received very good reviews, but few theaters showed the film. I've seen it, and it is a very good film, but very tough to watch.
You’re right. His best role was in “Murder in the First”. That film was mind-blowing 😊
Lol @ 32:00 you say its crazy they're helping each other when they're against each other in the case lol. Both of my parents are sheriffs. My mother just retired 3 weeks ago after 30 years. They do that alot. The convene and talk and alot times even go on lunch with other. Even the sheriffs they all see each other alot wo they become friends or acquaintances. Well this is a military court. Also my mother said she's even court judges basically drunk or hungover i guess smeling like alcohol on the stand lmao. No one can say anything to them though. Another one that you would like, judging from this reaction, is RULES OF ENGAGEMENT with Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson, another Marine Corps courtroom drama.
As a former Marine of 10 years, when you're given a direct order by your superior officer you carry out that order or you're pushiness
This is such an excellent movie culminating with that courtroom scene, You keep wishing for the romance. Maybe will work out sometime. :)
