You have to be willing to put everything on the backburner for your kids. You have to be ready to die for them if needbe. It's a lot, and I don't think people take it seriously enough sometimes. I'm kind of selfish, so I wonder if I need to be a mother. I know my mom has all those qualities, and if I am unable to exhibit such qualities naturally, then it is not something I need to become.

i felt so bad for tahomaru all he ever wanted is his mother’s attention due to his overgrowing jealousy he puts it all on hyakkimaru for taking everything away from him I’m not putting hate on hyakkimaru or their mother but im just saying that he should get a chance to live and maybe hyakkimaru and him would get to know each other more like brothers same goes for their mother since it’s gonna be the last time (since hyakkimaru got his eyes back) that he would get to see his mother again also his adopted father too

Tonia Roberta in the manga they all died, but the creators of this anime made a lot of changes in the anime, and as of now it’s unknown if they are dead or alive. By the way, they could’ve easily fled with Hyakkimaru, but rather stayed because Jukai wished to die from the starting of the series, Tahomaru was almost dead because of the demon and his mother wanted to stay with Tahomaru till his last moments.

the '80s version of hyakkimaru looks like a 30y.old man, and this 2019 version is as cute as a toddler. PS. i wished tahomaru got the love he needed from his mother and i think it will be great if they lived as close brothers.
I absolutely LOVE how they contrasted his face without eyes and with eyes. It was full of emotion and light once he got his eyes back. Absolutely well done❤️🔥

I honestly don't think there is any romantic connotation to Hyakkimaru calling Dororo pretty. He called the sky pretty as well. He's seeing the world and the people he loves for the first time. And Dororo, hearing this for the very first time and who also is prideful, obviously feels embarrassed. Do siblings not compliment eah other also?? It's a little sad (and tiring) to constantly see pedo jokes about this scene while every other significant scene is analysed the way it deserves to be. Found family is a beautiful trope. Let's not reduce it to whether or not they are blood-related.
Not only that, Hyakkimaru said to a random girl in the manga she were "pretty"recently after he revieved one eye and the monk said in one of the last chapters to Dororo and Hyakkiamru (quote)" you two look like brothers" when they were arguing about something. Btw, i own the manga and have fully read it.
Let's not forget he is seeing for the first time in his life. The sky, the face of dororo was something he could never even imagine. So he says she(?) Is beautiful. It's not romantic, but a childlike wonder.

I swear his brother doesn't deserve to die. The same goes for his mother. The only person that deserves this is the father but even the ending he gets is much better than what I said. He deserves to live with his failure. All I want to say is that I want his family to live a new life. As for his foster father, death seems like a good closure to him :)

As long as Tezuka production allowed it and Twin Engine is willing to, we could have an OVA. It will be disrespectful for Tezuka sensei if MAPPA suddenly decided to create an OVA with a new added story without their approval and consent. But let's hope it happens. This was one of Twin Engine's biggest project so far. So maybe in the future.
I feel bad for the both of them, they took the burden of their parents and face a future where they doesn't have any choice. My heart went soft when Tohamaru finally called him brother, i wish they had more time together not as enemies but as siblings.
I know it was a open ended final, but do any of you guys think that hyakimarus mon and adoptive father + tahomaru could have survive???? Like it never says they are dead or that they found their bodies. At first they say they are missing and they never really revealed if the found the bodies or not. I guess somewhere deep within me I hope that those three just ran away for a while similar to hyaki in order to atone for their sins.
Yeah, I find it hard to believe that they're dead. Jukai was able to hold off burning beams from crushing Hyakkimaru and his mom could still walk. In the time Dororo amd Hyakkimaru got out, the other 3 could have done so too.
it says in wiki that the mom, foster dad, and tahomaru status is unknown but its obvious they died. no way they could escape a burning building with an injured man and a fully clothed mother that could easily catch on fire plus they should have left rather than having a moment. it shows that they wanted to die in peace, bodies never found could mean that they burned to crisp with their bones being crushed by the burned building
Firefly then they should find bodies. Bones don't burn that easily and it's really weird that they didn't find then, especially that when a building collapses, they should be on top of it... I watched enough anime to not believe someone is dead until it's absolutely clear he/she is.
The very first people Hyakkimaru laid his eyes on were his two "mothers". 😢 I hope the three, or at least, Tahomaru and his mom, were able to survive. They can still renew their lives. Hyakkimaru's adoptive father may have died and thus has fulfilled his life's purpose.
Nui and Tahoumaru.. This might be their way of also atoning for their sin of allowing their land to prosper through Hyakkimaru's sacrifice.. It is sad, but I can just think that Tahoumaru is happy now that his mother is giving him the love that he crave for all his life. And his mother finally able to cuddle Hyakkimaru for the last time and became a mother for Tahoumaru even in the end.

A great anime and one I find to be the best for 2019!! Love that part "Sky is pretty, Dororo is Pretty".. Glad he got all his body parts back but sad to know he lost his blood family, but he has Dororo whom bloomed into a very Beautiful Girl!
My precious boy got his amber eyes back and I'm here to behold the start of a better life for him. He deserves the love, warmth and care he was denied since birth.
What I like about this story, aside of all the awesomeness of this adaptation (Hyakkimaru is such an innocent badass, and Dororo a fun and interesting side kick with such good amount of street savvy and perception), is the fact that I got to find out about this hidden gem thanks to the manga Atom - The Beginning. It is a really good manga acting as a prequel of sorts to Astroboy (whose original name was Atom, actually). The anime does not do the manga any justice, and I hope they remake it properly after the series is over, 'cause it deserves it. Anyway, the reason I learned about Dororo from that manga is because of one of the robots A-106, or Six (Astro/Atom's prototype) fights: the Hecaton-Meiden. The name is in Greek, and it means literally "100-0", which is an homage to Hyakkimaru himself. "Hyakki" is a prefix meaning "hundred", and "maru", while it means "circle", is often used by the Japanese when spelling numbers to refer to number "zero", thus "100-0" is also the name of this mighty kid with the two katanas. His robot "homage" in Atom - The Beginning also shares his lack of any senses or hands (is has 2 katanas installed instead of hands), instead using a wireless connection to his remote terminals (named Toumatiu, which means literally "My Eyes") as his eyes, ears and hands. His duel with A-106 is one of the coolest of the series so far, but I won't spoil it. It really makes me want to see that fight between Six and Hecaton-Meiden animated, since it draws so many similarities with Hyakkimaru's plight.
Are we not going to talk about how they're at the well, bickering and moving, looking at pretty things and Dororo calling him baka, while the poor old priest is working his ass off to lift both their weights up lmao
Main reason why I got into the anime in the first place He's so beautiful. I mean, look at him . He looks like sebastian from Black Butler and itachi uchiha mixed together ❤
3 :50 ( WARNING: long ass explanation about why I ship them and why it's normal to ship them, just my opinions ) No blood relation, no sexual tension, just pure relationship with the age gap is 5- 6 years, which isn't big (Dororo is 10 and Hyakkimaru is 16) and later on she grows up and become a beautiful woman, let's say she's 18 then Hyakkimaru will be 23-24, it's legal and normal for people to ship them and becoming a couple, then why do others keep saying it doesnt make sense? They have so many moment with unbreakable bond, and there are so many hints in the entire show but I agree that we don't consider it as "romantic moment" because she's underage and of course I don't want them to become a cp when she's small, but now that she grows up, it's normal. To Hyakkimaru, Dororo is someone he treasures so much and the dearest person to him, not as a sister or lover or friend, it's just complex feeling since this kind of definition is very unclear to him with his limited knowledge about human connection. To some people, they have a bro/sis/ relationship so they against this ship, but again, they have never said such things like "to me he/she is my best/ dearest brother/sister" or affirm each other as brother/sister even in the critical moment. Also, the fact Dororo calls him "aniki" because that word use to address someone who's a male and older than you but not too old, not because she considers him as her brother (in my country, we have similar word that similar to "aniki" so I kinda get the idea, but since english is limited in this kind of word, they can only translate to "bro", which is the closest meaning to this word). Through out the show, they have this platonic relationship and being each other's company, now that the ending is here, I believe they will develop to romantic relationship after the timeskip. When they both grow up, it will be a healthy relationship with all the bond they shared in the past, and so in the future. Thanks for coming to my lecture :v
It always get me mad that they decide to die there, I know they have some sins so awful, especially Jukai, but they loose an opportunity to remedy that, giving a better life to Hyakkimaru now that he has his complete body, and in the case of the mother, giving a better life to Tahomaru and trying to repair that lost bond with Hyakkimaru, and obviously Jukai being there as he is the one who knows Hyakkimaru the most.
I kinda don't get how come Hyakkimaru could leave but the rest of them just stayed there and prayed for some weird reason instead of like running away and pressing F to pay respect
Is anyone else slightly annoyed that he never used the actual sword on his hip once he got his arms back, but decided to hurt himself by trying to use his old arm blades? I get dual wielding is what he's used to, but don't tear up both your hands once you just got them back!
Its sad that so many beloved character die, his mom, his "father", Tahomaru, Mutsu and Hyogo, i really wished for them to live somewhat happy along each other, but i guess those are kind of impossible fantasies now.
i got a feeling if this anime will get it's season 2 or more, Dororo will be the best build-up female character, i mean she ain't just any female character, she made a big impact on Hyakkimaru's life and, she even think mostly for both of them even tho they're not together dororo was able to think for herself and she's a fucking KID!!

I honestly don't think there is any romantic connotation to Hyakkimaru calling Dororo pretty. He called the sky pretty as well. He's seeing the world and the people he loves for the first time. And Dororo, hearing this for the very first time and who also is prideful, obviously feels embarrassed. Do siblings not compliment eah other also?? It's a little sad (and tiring) to constantly see pedo jokes about this scene while every other significant scene is analysed the way it deserves to be. Found family is a beautiful trope. Let's not reduce it to whether or not they are blood-related.
Not only that, Hyakkimaru said to a random girl in the manga she were "pretty"recently after he revieved one eye and the monk said in one of the last chapters to Dororo and Hyakkiamru (quote)" you two look like brothers" when they were arguing about something.

He deserves to live with his failure. All I want to say is that I want his family to live a new life. As for his foster father, death seems like a good closure to him :)

As long as Tezuka production allowed it and Twin Engine is willing to, we could have an OVA. It will be disrespectful for Tezuka sensei if MAPPA suddenly decided to create an OVA with a new added story without their approval and consent. But let's hope it happens. This was one of Twin Engine's biggest project so far. So maybe in the future.
Man all of the main characters had such good development. I just love how most characters weren't the typical super bad guy that's easy to hate.
I feel bad for the both of them, they took the burden of their parents and face a future where they doesn't have any choice. My heart went soft when Tohamaru finally called him brother, i wish they had more time together not as enemies but as siblings.
I know it was a open ended final, but do any of you guys think that hyakimarus mon and adoptive father + tahomaru could have survive???? Like it never says they are dead or that they found their bodies. At first they say they are missing and they never really revealed if the found the bodies or not.
I guess somewhere deep within me I hope that those three just ran away for a while similar to hyaki in order to atone for their sins.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that they're dead. Jukai was able to hold off burning beams from crushing Hyakkimaru and his mom could still walk. In the time Dororo amd Hyakkimaru got out, the other 3 could have done so too.

it says in wiki that the mom, foster dad, and tahomaru status is unknown but its obvious they died. no way they could escape a burning building with an injured man and a fully clothed mother that could easily catch on fire plus they should have left rather than having a moment. it shows that they wanted to die in peace, bodies never found could mean that they burned to crisp with their bones being crushed by the burned building
Firefly then they should find bodies. Bones don't burn that easily and it's really weird that they didn't find then, especially that when a building collapses, they should be on top of it... I watched enough anime to not believe someone is dead until it's absolutely clear he/she is.

this anime still got me cry over the scenes. it's tragic yet beautiful for hyakkimaru in his beginning of his new life and in his ending of his past.
The very first people Hyakkimaru laid his eyes on were his two "mothers". 😢
I hope the three, or at least, Tahomaru and his mom, were able to survive. They can still renew their lives. Hyakkimaru's adoptive father may have died and thus has fulfilled his life's purpose.
Nui and Tahoumaru.. This might be their way of also atoning for their sin of allowing their land to prosper through Hyakkimaru's sacrifice.. It is sad, but I can just think that Tahoumaru is happy now that his mother is giving him the love that he crave for all his life. And his mother finally able to cuddle Hyakkimaru for the last time and became a mother for Tahoumaru even in the end.

But I guess compared to how much Hyakkimaru fought every second of his life and them dying in an instance is somewhat just right. I can't help doubt they're dead since there was no body found. It became a habit. 😆

This anime is so crazy and I love it
What I like about this story, aside of all the awesomeness of this adaptation (Hyakkimaru is such an innocent badass, and Dororo a fun and interesting side kick with such good amount of street savvy and perception), is the fact that I got to find out about this hidden gem thanks to the manga Atom - The Beginning.
It is a really good manga acting as a prequel of sorts to Astroboy (whose original name was Atom, actually). The anime does not do the manga any justice, and I hope they remake it properly after the series is over, 'cause it deserves it.
Anyway, the reason I learned about Dororo from that manga is because of one of the robots A-106, or Six (Astro/Atom's prototype) fights: the Hecaton-Meiden. The name is in Greek, and it means literally "100-0", which is an homage to Hyakkimaru himself. "Hyakki" is a prefix meaning "hundred", and "maru", while it means "circle", is often used by the Japanese when spelling numbers to refer to number "zero", thus "100-0" is also the name of this mighty kid with the two katanas. His robot "homage" in Atom - The Beginning also shares his lack of any senses or hands (is has 2 katanas installed instead of hands), instead using a wireless connection to his remote terminals (named Toumatiu, which means literally "My Eyes") as his eyes, ears and hands.
His duel with A-106 is one of the coolest of the series so far, but I won't spoil it.
It really makes me want to see that fight between Six and Hecaton-Meiden animated, since it draws so many similarities with Hyakkimaru's plight.

Main reason why I got into the anime in the first place
He's so beautiful. I mean, look at him . He looks like sebastian from Black Butler and itachi uchiha mixed together ❤
3 :50 ( WARNING: long ass explanation about why I ship them and why it's normal to ship them, just my opinions )
No blood relation, no sexual tension, just pure relationship with the age gap is 5- 6 years, which isn't big (Dororo is 10 and Hyakkimaru is 16) and later on she grows up and become a beautiful woman, let's say she's 18 then Hyakkimaru will be 23-24, it's legal and normal for people to ship them and becoming a couple, then why do others keep saying it doesnt make sense? They have so many moment with unbreakable bond, and there are so many hints in the entire show but I agree that we don't consider it as "romantic moment" because she's underage and of course I don't want them to become a cp when she's small, but now that she grows up, it's normal. To Hyakkimaru, Dororo is someone he treasures so much and the dearest person to him, not as a sister or lover or friend, it's just complex feeling since this kind of definition is very unclear to him with his limited knowledge about human connection. To some people, they have a bro/sis/ relationship so they against this ship, but again, they have never said such things like "to me he/she is my best/ dearest brother/sister" or affirm each other as brother/sister even in the critical moment. Also, the fact Dororo calls him "aniki" because that word use to address someone who's a male and older than you but not too old, not because she considers him as her brother (in my country, we have similar word that similar to "aniki" so I kinda get the idea, but since english is limited in this kind of word, they can only translate to "bro", which is the closest meaning to this word). Through out the show, they have this platonic relationship and being each other's company, now that the ending is here, I believe they will develop to romantic relationship after the timeskip. When they both grow up, it will be a healthy relationship with all the bond they shared in the past, and so in the future. Thanks for coming to my lecture :v

It always get me mad that they decide to die there, I know they have some sins so awful, especially Jukai, but they loose an opportunity to remedy that, giving a better life to Hyakkimaru now that he has his complete body, and in the case of the mother, giving a better life to Tahomaru and trying to repair that lost bond with Hyakkimaru, and obviously Jukai being there as he is the one who knows Hyakkimaru the most.
