  • Working on my exhaust, I bought stock CVO pipes and headers and to make
    it loud I removed catalytic converter and baffles from the slip-ons.
    Now my 2011 electra its straight piped and it sounds pretty good.
    Mo more heat from the cat area (by passenger footpeg)
    It was a preaty easy project and it only cost $20 tip for welding

    Great job and thanks for showing us exactly what needs done and an overview how to do it. 👍🏼🙌🏼 I have a 2020 CVO Street Glide that needs some waking up!! I just purchased and installed @sharkroad mufflers. They’re a little quiet for my liking yet so I’m removing the baffles today, 10/31/2021 to hear how it sounds.
    My next step is to remove that ridiculous cat just as you did! For two huge reasons that cat needs removing: 1) it is literally choking the engine and since it can’t breathe it can’t perform like it should from factory, and 2) this bike runs exceeding hot! With it running so hot the engineers had to design an entire system to allow the one cylinder to shutdown while remain running just to allow the engine to remain in the appropriate temperature zone. With that much heat being created the engine life is drastically being decreased with higher probability of engine problems and failure. Not to mention how the existing oil pump issues have on the engine. So, just by removing the cat we are no doubt extending the life of the engine, while increasing performance. AND Harley Dealers say if the cat is removed it voids the warranty. HELL, They ought to thank us because it’s saving them the expense of warranty work!!

    Had the cat removed at my dealership when I went to stage2 on my 2018 FLTRU. It did cut down on the heat for sure. Also did not effect my warranty. Running SE Cannons. Love the sound and not to loud.

    When I bought my 2008 SG, the former owner changed the exhaust. Straight pipes right into two Screaming Eagle mufflers with baffles. So I took those off and put Jones exhaust on it with no baffles. Sounds great. Only one problem. My bike is almost a full stage 1 upgrade. That means he took the plastics from behind the air cleaner, did the exhaust, and should have done a tune. I did not know I needed a tune as I am fairly new still to riding. So because I did not get a tune my bike dumps more fuel into the engine so much so that I get a gold colored burn spot on my right pipe because when I get down on it my bike spits a small steady flame now in that one side. Every bike machanic I talk to says a dyno tune will fix that. They also tell me that almost every time you do something performance wise to these bikes that I might need a tune after. So all I got to to do is get a tune for my bike and throw on new Jones tips and I guess I'm good as gold, pun intended.

    • @MotorHead963
      @MotorHead963  Год назад

      It sure sounds good when straight piped. After exhaust and air cleaner I bought power commander to tune it right and it worked just fine

      @JackEnHoff247 Год назад +1

      @@MotorHead963 Harley-Davidson always steers me to their Vance & Hines tuner that they sell for like $400. I guessing it's a good thing to have so I don't have to dyno the bike every time I do an upgrade. It's funny they make it sound like after literally every single upgrade... I need to instantly go dyno it. Sometimes it sounds like they are low key saying hey just give us your money lol.
