- I'm starting a new tie-along series using the feathers from a Golden Pheasant skin. This first one is a light, sleek streamer using three of the more colorful feathers.
If you're interested in winning one of the five Golden Pheasant skins and participating, just leave a comment with GP in it. On Saturday, May 11, 2024 I'll go to the random comment picker and select five winners.
If you'd like to purchase your own skin and tie along with us, you may be able to find them at a few online retailers (though they have been harder to come by this past year).

That's a good looking fly! I went to the Caddis Fly Shop site and they're already sold out. Maybe I can win one of the GP skins. GP. This should be fun seeing what everyone comes up with for ideas. Lots of traditional patterns use tippets and crests, but not much else.

Good Morning Sir Matt, memories of the first series,and get this my family in New Mexico and I watched just watch "THE Lalo Rainbow River Cheif" from the first Ringneck pheasant skin I won and still have a use. Now wouldn't that be something to win a GP and be a part of the series. Thank You Sir Matt. My niece's husband fish and she wants a dozen of the Lalo Rainbow River chief for her husband for a Father's Day gift
Hey Matt. The ring neck pheasant skin creates all kinds of cool and effective flies. Originally from South Dakota, I’ve used the ring neck plenty in my flies. The GP skin provides many different colors and possibilities, especially for streamers. Your’s in the video is a great example. Thanks for all of your cool videos and fly tying ideas and information. It’s odd. Until you posted this video, it never occurred to me to buy a golden pheasant skin, maybe because I never saw one in the fly shops where I used to regularly browse. Now I suddenly feel I desperately need one.

Good morning Matt! Great idea to make use of the GP skin. I have plenty if GP necks and some tail feathers but no skins. Funny, I have a complete silver pheasant but I don't think anyone would ever need that many gray ghost cheeks!
GP...this could be fun! Such an exotic bird even though it is available and reasonable. I'd look to make a swinging wetfly!

That is a neat looking fly. The Golden Pheasant skins are sweet. I am sitting out of this one. My fly tying skill is nowhere near that good to use those skins. Good luck folks.

Love the video! The first trout I ever caught on a nymph tied by me was with a pheasant tail tied with golden pheasant. GP

I've been tying flies in your Smokie Mountain series. Beginner fly tyer, started tying 3 months but well over 100 flies. I might be able to do some creative things with the GP. Always improvising with my limited materials.

I learned just this year how effective streamers are on small mouth bass. We’ve had a lot of rain this spring so our rivers are stained in color. The brighter the streamer the better they work. A GP skin certainly would brighten things up. Thanks for all you do Matt. Have a great week!

Great idea Matt and a very good looking fly. If I win a GP skin, I'll tie a fly that has a Wally Wing made with an aftershaft feather. I can do it with a ring neck pheasant, so I assume I will be able to do it with a GP as well. Cheers.
