- Shami kabab is well loved not least because it is one of the easier kababs to make at home. While producing good kababs generally requires special grilling, charring or tandoori techniques, shami kabab can be easily prepared at home with no special equipment. Popular among Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian communities, this snack resembles a pan-fried, ground-meat patty. It is best made with a lean, boneless red meat of your choice (mutton, beef, lamb, etc.).

Outstanding recipe..Had made the Shami kebab once just the way you prepared it..you are so right about watching the water when steaming the meat chholar dal and onions..and yes a good Shami kebab has texture and fibre..not the pasty stuff most restaurants pass off as kebabs in Kolkata..keep up the good work..big thumbs up to you.👍
Very yummy n appetising dears... I usually make these at home as a side dish for hot sambhar n rice.. the only variation in my recipe is I add little bit turmeric powder, one tomato and coriander powder in the recipe.. even using roasted gram powder in the end instead of channa dal sometimes makes me hurry through this recipe n still tastes yummy.. cheers for a good week ahead 😘😘
