Those side pipes aren’t custom. They’re factory installed on the Boss 302’s. Why would this guy want them removed? They give it that unique trans-am racing style sound. Seems like the guy should’ve just bought a standard GT.
Agreed doesn't make sense. The Boss came with block off plates for the side pipes as well. So if you didn't want or like the sound you didn't have to have it.
The shop that installed my headers bought the kit that replaced the stock h pipe with an x pipe and then welded the side pipes to it. I may have the side pipes re-installed later
Should’ve pulled it back in the garage and did the decibel meter on it just before he left. That would’ve been in the high 120s for sure. I might add you should’ve left the factory H pipe that was in that car cause that’s what 302 boss came with.
The Boss 302 is my favorite Mustang. I wish they would bring them back. But when he put that other key in and opened her up! Damn she sounded so sexy! That is how a Mustang should sound!!
@@nightwolf_truckfein1066 I have an x pipe on my 2013 5.0 and my father has the stock h pipe on his 2011 GT/CS. His has more rumble no doubt and mine is way more rasp. But mine is still nowhere near as bad as the BOSS 302 in this video. I still have stock headers and cats. Mine is a lot better than this. I disagree that it cleans up the exhaust note
@rickitysplitz7035 no way. I've been watching exhaust videos since the beginning of RUclips. Yall must not have the same setup. The h and x pipe can't be the only difference. I just saw an xpipe on a tundra that cleaned up the rasp but it had cherry bomb m80s and it was still half ass raspy. It smooths out the note due to the exhaust pulses pulling off each other. With an h pipe they only converge at lower rpm and become more like true duals at higher rpm. Swear. So many videos of straight pipe true dual comparing to a new xpipe n it's way cleaner.
Those side pipes came factory with that car. In fact, they sound amazing when you uncork them. Every Mustang should come with a stick shift. That car sounds good with the addition of long tube headers. Great Job guys
@twiceonsundays I had a corsa sport catback on my 18 Colorado n dude that sound is so distinctive. Of course I wanted louder but I mean I was nice to not hear it on the hwy. I bet it wouldve sounded sick af with hfc. But I think straight pipes are just obnoxious cause they are always loud and raspy. A clean tone is where it's at. If you hear a corsa in person you'll understand.
@@nightwolf_truckfein1066 I literally said I do understand in my first response. I did a ton of research before going with straight pipe on my 392. Listened to corsa, borla, and race bullets. All sounded great, but I like that borderline obnoxious sound from the straight pipe. And by straight pipe, I mean mid muffler and reso delete with cats still on. Cold start is too loud though. After that it's just right.
@@nightwolf_truckfein1066 You're right about that too. I think the LT1 in the C7 and 6th gen SS don't sound as good with straight pipe. It actually sounds the best with headers and the factory NPP exhaust. All of the V8's sound way too extreme when you start talking about catless setups, but some people like that too. The Boss 302 in the video sounds pretty much perfect. I wouldn't deviate from how he has it here.
@@roneyrone2078 right on man. Some people actually disagree. But yeah as they come hard to argue the mustang does sound pretty damn good i agree. Those cyotes do work. Would say the platform has come far.
Also a Mopar guy, and I do envy the sound of those 5.0's. They have the cheapest route for the best sound. The 6.4 Hemi is a close second place. The cool thing about the Hemi sound, is that you always know when it's a Hemi even if you don't see the car.
I got rid of that clunky stock drive shaft. The difference was quite noticeable. Go with a one piece drive shaft either carbon fiber or aluminum sheds a few pounds as well.
@andrewhillen1783 No it won't, it only kills about Four decibels of sound. I say go for a it will sound great. It will still be plenty loud but much cleaner sounding.
They are very nice.. They should have gave that car a Tremec.. First off all GT's should have been getting Tremec's since 15 on.. Once they saw how badly they shifted at high RPM's with the Gen 1's.. They should have done a deal with Tremec. We would have paid and extra 2/3K per car. I think everyone with an MT82 would agree with that.. We all kind of know the fix for them.. Clutch line n a shifter upGrade will usually do it although a lot of people like to do a better clutch too.. If the aim is to add boost the best thing any MT82 owner can do is set aside Ben Cal stage 2 or 3 money and from there people are usually good to go unless they give the car no mercy all the time.. Or the aim is to drag race it..
I think the orginal set up was better for top end power plus sounds better and those pops in my opinion suck. Not trying to hate just the truth with a little opinion. But hey if your going for u refi ed noise to wake the neighborhood thats it.
He did not custom make side pipes my guy. Do some research and quit making a fool out of yourself. That was part of the boss 302 package. ALSO: it’s stainless works. Not stainless steelworks. Please start doing more research
That X-pipe and side pipe arrangement is a factory part on Boss 302's from Ford.
No, h-pipe with side pipes is factory
@ then the X is a Ford Performance part. Regardless they came with side pipes factory with a block off plate to bypass them altogether.

The H pipe sounds a thousand times better than that raspy x pipe, should have kept the side pipes though
@@howiewestra9382 idk what you're talking about. Xpipes clean up an exhaust note.
@nightwolf_truckfein1066 x pipe generally makes more rasp...
@howiewestra9382 😆 no dude. They literally have videos on this channel even showing the difference between true duals (no crossover) and x pipe.

Boss Mustang came with side exhaust and rear exhaust from the factory
Love it 👍
I would put the stock over axles back if it still has the resonators on them. It would really clean up the rasp.
Why did he change it? Already sounded great b4
Sounds good Beastmode
I’d put a small ultra quiet resonator on it but it’s decent like this.

Which one sounds better, X pipe, or H pipe?
Needs two 12 inch bullets as resonators to clean it up more.

5.0 but it’s the “Road Runner”. Essentially a beefed up version of the Coyote with different internals/heads/etc

Never put any kind of ghost cam in your car! It will ruin your engine.
The track key makes them do it from factory soooo
Does it hurt power?
Put the worse mufflers you can on a mod motor. They sound so bad. Stuck the factory side ouoes back on and put some gt500 axle backs in it.
