Bro its depends on the company wh'os optimising images there is a lot of difference between xiaomi's 108mp and samsung's 108mp. As u said samsung has better contrast, it also gives good details.It doesn't really mean that megapixels doesn't matter totally .Mega pixels can be optimised with sensor. For example u can take note 20 ultra and s21 ultra both use 108mp but s21 ultra is improved so we can't say that totally megapixels doesn't matter. samsung dream is to create 600mp well optimised camera and already works started. Its all about optimisation. And by the way u can take both 12 mp and 108 mp in s21 ultra that too 108mp is only in 3:4 ratio so there is no problem

But I still belive more Megapixels options should be present so that when ever we want to print some big photos or wallpapers, we can use them.
I have both iphone and 108 megapixels samsung phone and I have done camera comparison in many way and I can clearly say that samsung 108 megapixels camer is far better than iphone 12pro max.!! So megapixels number does matter when it is a samsung flagshipphone with Snapdragon chipset.. Otherwise iphone is far better when compare with other 48MP and 64Mp cameras
