I have been using my phone from past 2 years ,Oppo K3 Note . The processor is Snapdragon 710 ,and thankfully oppo hasn't slowed down this phone through updates . I am definitely looking forward for another 1 year with this phone 😅 So ,I believe the other powerful processor phones can easily go beyond 3years and the one with 8XX series can go till 4 years too. I am using my Lenovo Note 5 Android phone from Feb 2016. It's slow, can't play PUBG, volume and off buttons broken but phone still operating RUclips, crome and some apps.
For me the update story is different. When I 1st purchased the Samsung Galaxy A50s...it lags a lot, I was totally disappointed with its performance. But after few days I received new OS update...from then its running well. (Yes its lag little bit, dew to its processor. But optimization of One UI is really amazing)
I prefer buying 20 k phones and use it for 2 years then buy one more 20k phone and use it for two years because it will update you with new technology and u can have new smartphone in ypur hand

I m still using my Pixel 2 for almost six years now. Speaker volume has decreased by approx 30 percent & so has the battery. Otherwise it works perfectly.

It was flying through apps back then but now it takes some time to open apps after recieving android 11 update so im damn sure oneplus has intentionally slowed it down . You are right. I am using OnePlus 6t since launch it is still working fine with oxygen os 10. Still Android 11 update is not available for this phone. OnePlus is intentionally trying to force their customers to upgrade.
Actually snapdragon 855+ has reached its end of support from Qualcomm with no more firmware updates... Now you're completely at the hands of OnePlus and their updates... Generally after 2-3 years nowadays Qualcomm chips start having issues with the motherboard and stuff like that... So there are many such considerations

According to me, Update se phone slow to hota hai sometimes but we can't say that it is done intentionally by the company because the updated os is mostly for new phones with new and better hardware and is more compatible with that.. the most compatible os for the hardware of our phones is the one with which we buy it
You are absolutely right. I have Oneplus 7 Pro (8+256GB). It works flawlessly when using oxygen os 11. But as soon as I updated it to oxygen os 12, it became sluggish, and the overall smoothness was drastically reduced. Then I downgraded it back to OOS 11, and my experience was good again. I feel like Oneplus has kept their promise to give us Android 12, but behind the scenes made their skin heavy or made the phone slower intentionally so that we would think to buy their latest phone to feel the best experience they have to offer. Bascially, what I am trying to convey here is that my oneplus 7 pro works really good even after 4 years, and I hope to keep using it for a couple more years until the apps are no longer supported. It has still good specs, the screen is good, processor, ram and storage is still relevant today. I would only get my battery replaced as it is the only component in my phone which has degraded over time.
@Harsh Rathore It all comes down to personal preference and your budget bro. Oneplus is going to release Nord CE 3 which seems to be really good specs wise. In terms of build quality we would be seeing durability test by a lot of tech reviewers. And if the device isn’t a faulty one, then I think any phone can and should work for at least 4-5 years. Oneplus 11R is also good. It all comes down to processor and amount of RAM. If the phone processor can handle modern apps of that time, then your phone should be good. In such cases, snapdragon 8xx series processors are supposed to be durable and new Dimensity 8xxx and 9xxx series are equally good. I would suggest, go for any of these two processors and at least 8 gigs of ram. Storage wise if you can get 256gb with ufs 3.1/4, you are all set for at least a couple of years. Improvements in mobile industry has slowed down quite a bit because we have already got good hardware features in terms of camera, screen, battery, charger. One more thing to add here Oneplus does support unlocking bootloader so you can easily find good custom roms if you get bored with OOS. Vivo, iqoo doesn’t support unlocking bootloader. I hope it helps.

2 year ago my brother brought realme 3 pro !! It was working very very smooth for normal daily life use also for some game ! but after some time an update came & it changed the whole phone , Camera quality got downgraded ~ processing also ~ Gaming is almost not possible ~ Game mode was also downgraded !! & it was all under 2 - 3 years....
700 series aur 800 series ke gaming version mein bahut farak hai actually. Graphic intensive games like Genshin Impact makes it very apparent. But normally speaking 800 series generally will be smooth with almost everything for 3-4 years. 4 is the max limit for 800 series.
The ONLY reason why most people dump their old phones is the battery. Over time, the battery degrades and fails to hold the charge. I still have numerous smartphones whose battery is completely gone but the phone is in perfect working condition.

Earlier I used to use mid range phones like Nokia, redmi etc, everytime after 6 months to 1 year, they really started lagging. Now I am using OnePlus 8 since last 2 years and still it runs smooth as butter

Yes poco m2 pro gets lot of gittery camera quality decreased after 2-3 update and charging problem gets irritating. Fast charging become slow.

Bro i am using oneplus 7 pro since may 2019 . It was flying through apps back then but now it takes some time to open apps after recieving android 11 update so im damn sure oneplus has intentionally slowed it down . Because it was an flagship with all flagship soc and storage it is unnatural to slow down after just 2 years of usage

Actually snapdragon 855+ has reached its end of support from Qualcomm with no more firmware updates... Now you're completely at the hands of OnePlus and their updates... Generally after 2-3 years nowadays Qualcomm chips start having issues with the motherboard and stuff like that... So there are many such considerations

Update se phone slow to hota hai sometimes but we can't say that it is done intentionally by the company because the updated os is mostly for new phones with new and better hardware and is more compatible with that.. the most compatible os for the hardware of our phones is the one with which we buy it

You are absolutely right. I have Oneplus 7 Pro (8+256GB). It works flawlessly when using oxygen os 11. But as soon as I updated it to oxygen os 12, it became sluggish, and the overall smoothness was drastically reduced. Then I downgraded it back to OOS 11, and my experience was good again. I feel like Oneplus has kept their promise to give us Android 12, but behind the scenes made their skin heavy or made the phone slower intentionally so that we would think to buy their latest phone to feel the best experience they have to offer. Bascially, what I am trying to convey here is that my oneplus 7 pro works really good even after 4 years, and I hope to keep using it for a couple more years until the apps are no longer supported. It has still good specs, the screen is good, processor, ram and storage is still relevant today. I would only get my battery replaced as it is the only component in my phone which has degraded over time.
@Harsh Rathore It all comes down to personal preference and your budget bro. Oneplus is going to release Nord CE 3 which seems to be really good specs wise. In terms of build quality we would be seeing durability test by a lot of tech reviewers. And if the device isn’t a faulty one, then I think any phone can and should work for at least 4-5 years. Oneplus 11R is also good. It all comes down to processor and amount of RAM. If the phone processor can handle modern apps of that time, then your phone should be good. In such cases, snapdragon 8xx series processors are supposed to be durable and new Dimensity 8xxx and 9xxx series are equally good. I would suggest, go for any of these two processors and at least 8 gigs of ram. Storage wise if you can get 256gb with ufs 3.1/4, you are all set for at least a couple of years. Improvements in mobile industry has slowed down quite a bit because we have already got good hardware features in terms of camera, screen, battery, charger. One more thing to add here Oneplus does support unlocking bootloader so you can easily find good custom roms if you get bored with OOS. Vivo, iqoo doesn’t support unlocking bootloader. I hope it helps.

2 year ago my brother brought realme 3 pro !! It was working very very smooth for normal daily life use also for some game ! but after some time an update came & it changed the whole phone , Camera quality got downgraded ~ processing also ~ Gaming is almost not possible ~ Game mode was also downgraded !! & it was all under 2 - 3 years....

700 series aur 800 series ke gaming version mein bahut farak hai actually. Graphic intensive games like Genshin Impact makes it very apparent. But normally speaking 800 series generally will be smooth with almost everything for 3-4 years. 4 is the max limit for 800 series.

The ONLY reason why most people dump their old phones is the battery. Over time, the battery degrades and fails to hold the charge. I still have numerous smartphones whose battery is completely gone but the phone is in perfect working condition.
