As an American I don't know whether to applaud the conservatives/Tories on the show for having a sense of humor or to be disgusted by their presence at all.

Thank you. Superb content. So glad I found this series available on RUclips a while back. One of the best current affairs , satirical , irreverent programmes ever. Just wish I could get 'Private Eye' online. Hard copies take too long to arrive.
i used to watch it every friday when i lived in london (1995-2000). since i bought a laptop i have watched every episode in chronological order on youtube. we have a very benign democracy here in new zealand but we lack the comedic talent who could really nail the politicians to the wall; the way these guys do on this show.
Count yourself lucky to have a benign democracy. UK politics is an absolute shitshow, we all watch on because its pure comedy gold. We wouldn't want it for ourselves though, the UK is packed with clowns for politicians, all stoked by media lunatics like Rupert Murdoch.
A couple of years back, I had a bad case of food poisoning and I did a massive dump which looked just like Australie. After being ignored by the British media, I sent photos to as many New Zealand newspapers and news programmes as possible, I thought at least THEY would appreciate it seeing as you New Zealanders love the Aussies so much but I still haven't heard anything back. Did you ever see anything about it mentioned on telly at all ?
Excellent episode, as always! Although the MP was pretty lame, everyone else made up for it. Jack Dee was excellent, and his delivery of the caption for the pumpkin picture made me laugh way too hard!
I always feel mildly sorry for the dopey Tories who get roped into appearing on the show to try and humanise their monstrous party; they're like sacrificial lambs tossed out of the manger and into a den of wolves, they just don't stand a chance.
I just realized (on the 3rd or so time watching) that the voice of the Spanish daughter’s name is clearly read by Ignacio Lopez, who was a panelist on Ep. 1 this series. Must have had him record it that week.
It's hilarious that the 1 in 12 > 1 in 10 joke would never be made in a show for the US market as they likely would think that 1 in 12 is greater than 1 in 10. Anyone who doesn't know of it, look for why the A&W 1/3 pound burger failed in the USA against the McDonald's Quarter Pounder.
I was somehow hoping for Emmanuel Sonubi to add more to the conversations than he did, but maybe I expected too much based on previous comedians being on Ian Hislop's team. Anyway, this episode is quite entertaining and I did enjoy the extra material compared to the regular episode.
@@securityrobot hmmmm you don't like a funny coloured person do you??? Of course, most of us who have come across Emmanuel before are impressed with his wit and charisma, and he seems like a genuinely good guy. This episode wasn't his best showcase, but he did ok. I often don't notice obvious things. I only realised they changed the name of moro bars to something else the other day. Aparently they changed in around 1998 lol! 😂
I'm so glad Ian can't help but give Tory guests a hard time. There's something so repugnant when a relatively young Tory or a "hip" religious figure or what have you comes onto these programs to try and appear relatable and pretend to be good sports having a laugh while actively making the world a markedly worse place every single day of their life.
And isn’t it fascinating yet disgusting how condescending she sounds every time she’s trying to be funny, and even more fascinating how she manages to make her accent sound arrogant? She’s from Sheffield for f**** sake, how can you sound like that when you’re from Sheffield?!?
Well if Labour politicians actually also got a hard time when they came on, as Ian and HIGNFY has always purported is the case, it would all be fine. However, it isn't. It used to be, but not these days. And still they don't come on nearly as frequently, even though they would probably be more than fine. I personally think it's quite brave a lot of Tories have come on, despite being the ruling party for a long time now and therefore being accountable for a lot of things (many of them horseshit no doubt) that the opposition never has to answer for. And I'm not even a Tory, hell I'm not even British. You could choose to interpret it as narcissism (it certainly was in Boris' case) or damage control (not likely the latter since they know they aren't "controlling" anything by appearing) but I think quite a few of them really genuinely are good sports.
