Oh yeah, I almost went crazy trying to figure this out so I made sure to create a video so that others could bypass the frustration! I also have a blog post that goes into more detail here: www.jasonstallworth.com/bias-amp-vs-bias-fx/
Thank you for this. I was starting to wonder why I had both of these plug ins. Haha. Makes a lot more sense now. I do kinda wish it was just one plugin interface but at least I get the logic behind it now.
Thanks for an easy to follow video for old school recording farts like myself! I was having a hard time wrapping my brain around how Bias FX and Studio complement each other, as they are not very intuitive to me. An old dog can learn a new trick after all! cheers!
My wav audio was of 30 secs that i tried uploading for amp match but while uploading a popup appeared saying..audio must be longer than 3 secs..can you tell me why I am getting this..?
I wish I could help you but I've never actually used that feature (recording an amp and creating a patch from that sound). I've only used the existing amps in here
I've never tried that because their Celestion cabs blow any other cabs away, IMO. I would assume you can just turn off the cab in BIAS and use another IR
Love the Positive Grid stuff. Good tutorial. Question: Can I use Bias FX with Bias Amp 2 through the mini amp head in live situations through my cabinet? I currently use the Bias Mini and a Mesa 212, but haven’t bought the Bias FX yet. I wonder will it work as my live pedal board?
Good freaking video man! I would not like to meet you in a dark alley, but would for sure like to jam with you dude, great stuff! I will now have to go drop the 150 on this new bias amp :)
Lol...well dude, I'd probably be asleep before the alley was dark! I'm glad this video helped!! It stumbed me for a while!! Oh and if you haven't seen it yet, check out my latest studio update (which I'm also using Positive Grid with): ruclips.net/video/AXgEc2abkl8/видео.html
Thanks glad you enjoyed this! I'm in a small 10x11 room and will eventually put some bass traps up. But most of what I record is direct. I do use a small mic now for my RUclips videos, so check out some of my later ones...sound it a bit better!
It's 2021. My interface doesn't look like that at all. I still can't access my amps from Bias FX 2. There is no "BIAS AMP" option in Bias FX 2 :( When I load a sound from the Bias Amp folder in Bias FX 2 it doesn't do shit. Bummed
There should be a folder on the bottom left for ‘BIAS Amp.’ See if this blog post helps: www.jasonstallworth.com/bias-amp-vs-bias-fx/ If not, you may want to reach out to Positive Grid tech support.
Is you sound coming through your amp or the monitors? I've been contemplating building a studio, been playing for almost 25 years (closet guitar player) I need to find more purpose in what I'm doing. Thanks for your inspiration.
J Semaj The sound is coming directly from my studio, which I sync with the video to made these types of videos. And dude, I have the perfect blog post to get you started. Read this and let me know if you have any questions: www.jasonstallworth.com/home-recording-studio-guide/
@@jasonstallworth i see,i was jam soloing with a mostly clean sound over a loop and needed some sustain to gain time while guessing the next note to play haha,ty Jason
Seems kinda stupid you have to use 2 plugins for the whole process. I don't see why they can't just make 1 plugin that does it all instead of force people with all the extra hassle.
I have bias amp 2 and bias fx, my set up is a Focusrite solo 2nd generation and a Jackson RRXMG active and my work station is Reaper , but my sounds is not good, I've tried different configurations but the results are the same I have a bad sound as plastic without intensity not enough gain. Any suggestions or comment?
Adrian Espinoza It sounds like you may have both plugins in the same track, and that would cause a bad sound. If that’s the case, just use BIAS FX. When you open BIAS FX, click the amp as if you were changing amps, and go tot he bottom left of the screen and you’ll see BIAS Amp 2. Click that and you have all of the BIAS Amp 2 amps to use. If that is not the case, go through the studio interface (Reaper) input/output settings.
Thanks for respond , I use bias fx without bias amp or amp without fx, but my sound is not good , my sound is not strong , it needs more gain, I use the gain of my focusrite in high level but it does't change much.
I can use Bias Fx with Bias amp 2 I bought both. I use itig blueboard and a m-audio expression pedal work good. But I can't make work expression pedal in logic Pro to record. I connect via USB via Bluetooth but the response of exp pedal inside logic is slow and bad. Any suggestions to use midi exp pedal with Bias Fx?
Sorry man, I'm lost on that one. I keep my set up extremely simple, meaning if I'm using plugins for amps/effects, I strictly stick with that (I don't even mix plugins). If I'm using hardware, it's strictly hardware, and extremely minimal at that. I recommend checking out the forums for both the peal manufacturer and Logic Pro. There's gotta be something out there for it that will help you. Good luck
Jason Stallworth I have an idea I will try. When I need to record with wah will load bias Fx out of Logic DAW the route sound through soundflower and input in logic (it will not load dry track for reamp but maybe it'll work).
If you just purchased, maybe try rebooting your machine and studio and then pull up FX, and the BIAS Amp 2 amps should be available towards the bottom left in the FX plugin.
Am I the only one not impressed by Bias? I spent 150 bucks on Bias Amp and got gyped from being able to load custom amps with my custom IRs into Bias FX LE. Bias AMP also poops out loading custom IRs. TSE X50 v2 is really all I need.
I've played through the TSE X50 several times but there was something that didn't quite cut it for me. I wasn't overly crazy over BIAS at first, although IMO it sounded better than the other sims. But the BIAS Amp 2 has a Celestion cab package, and I'm pretty impressed by that. I've never tried loading any IRs.
Wasn't impressed with BIAS before the release of BIAS Amp 2. This thing kills all amp simulations - and believe me, I've got pretty much all of them (Thermionik, Revalver, X50, TH3, Amplitube 4 etc.). Be aware that the IRs you are using is pretty much more important than the amp simulation itself. Although I bought Celestion IRs when they where released I still think that they are pretty flat. I prefer the IRs von Rosen Digital and 3 Sigma, especially the 5153 Stealth and Marshall 2551 (V30) from the latter.

Great to hear this! Yeah, that whole thing was frustrating until you figure it out!
Such a tremendous help, thank you very much! Subbed!
Thank you for the sub and glad this video helped!
Thanks a lot for the tutorial! The possibilities are endless now!

@@jasonstallworth Keep rocking and making videos man! We Love how detailed about information you give us about guitars and music and metal!!!!
Hello!!! great help!!!! I have the 2 pluguins but why in bias fx the bias amp 2 tab does not appear within bias fx? Thanks in advance
It only works the one way - pulling up BIAS FX and using the BIAS Amp 2 amps with FX, unfortunately.
Very good

I'm using an iMac, I assume it's all the same

Good tutorial for running into the computer. What happens when one tries to use Boas Amp 2 with FX and say, Bias Mini through a cab live?
DenisMguitar I’ve never tried this. I only use it for the studio and recording. Hopefully someone on here will answer.
thank you kind sir !
You're welcome and I'm glad this helped!
Thank you bro!
sup guys wich one is a sustain pedal or how do i increase sustain by other means?ty
BIAS FX includes the effects. I've never used their sustain sims. The high gain amps with an OD have plenty of sustain

So Helpful my friend ¡¡¡
Awesome to hear!
My bias fx not detect the bias amp2
What mus do?
Man, for that one I'd check with their support or their forum. Or maybe just restart your computer
Seems kinda stupid you have to use 2 plugins for the whole process. I don't see why they can't just make 1 plugin that does it all instead of force people with all the extra hassle.
So you just plug your guitar on yout PC and set it up and that's it?
Well, you plus it into an interface (at that time I was using the Presonus AudioBox USB interface), and that interface connects to your computer
