Turbine is a Solar T62 APU Unit out of a Chinook Helicopter.
Perfect for Turbine hour building.
Fuel Burn is 35 liters of Paraffin per hour

As a pilot why would you start the helicopter without being in the cockpit we are trained to maintain positive control of the controls during startup
looks like he wanted to keep the blades from spinning up too slowly, he has his hand on the main rotor until the engine is at idle, probably because it was windy
Boy, what a dangerous helicopter, in my opinion anyway!!

And that's about as high off the ground you want to take a Mini-500 unless it's a turbine, like this one. The two I know of both fell out of the sky when the 582 crapped out on them. Luckily both guys survived. At least this bird doesn't have that little 582 installed. Seems I recall Fetters fighting tooth and nail to stop people from using a turbine

Its a flying Death trap. With a 582 snowmobile engine A Turbine a safer choice.
It all comes Down to how well.your traind as a helo.pilot engine stops its called Autorotaion

Roshan Rai it’s a mini 500 kit which isn’t produced anymore with a conversion to a turbine engine.
The original aircraft was 24,500$
And with the new engine its probably around 35,000$ (guessing). It’s a very very chip Douglas 500D

how do you feel about using an APU as an engine? APU's typically run for short durations just to power up the main engines, and they dont operate under various g-loads and yaw.
Clearly you don’t know anything about APU’s. They are built to last and run the entire time during operations of for example the chinook. If the apu goes down it means the chinook has no essential systems
the engines themselves dont provide power to the remaining systems? From what I read the Solar runs at 65k RPM and is not meant for high duty cycles. That is a lot of toroidal forces on something that is meant to more or less remain straight and level

That is actually incorrect, we do not run the APU for the duration of the flight. We have two generators that are switched on after we start the main engines, and then we turn the APU off. The APU provides us power to start the main engines and allows us to turn on the APU GEN for electronics during start up. After start up it is turned off.
Those things must put the fear of God into you to fly.

You start the turbine, ignitor, and when it gets to a pre determined RPM you introduce fuel. That's what he's doing He's twisting the throttle on the collective to introduce fuel to the starting sequence
What is TBO on engine?
