I scrap in Scotland as well and this video is very informative, it certainly cleared up a few of misconceptions i had from watching American/Canadian scrapping videos, thank you buddy
I sooo want to visit Scotland. My grandmother said she was 100% Scottish and her cousins would come visit from Scotland and I loved their accents. Funny witty loud women :-)
@ScrapPalletMan thank you for the comment buddy. You're one guy I've followed for a long time and a big part of what inspired me to do videos. Nice to know you have Scottish blood in you. Yes, the women are formidable for sure. It is such a beautiful place, from the Scottish borders to the Highlands. It's an incredible place.
@claytonschemper8375 the scrapping bug bites you quick buddy. I love it so much and yes I love watching that treasure grow Thank you for watching and commenting.
😂 I certainly do love a brassy trinket! That brass box looked like a box of treasure 💛 The lock plate looked like it had a high copper content. Another great video and look at that beautifully organised shed 😂👌
Great job brother! I really like your tub of brass! 🤩 Wow, you have a few fuses lol. I did not know that about the mouse pad from laptops (gold under the colored part) thank you for that knowledge. You’re so very welcome brother, they look great up there.
@scrapitall200 they certainly do look up there brother 😀. The laptop mousepad tip, I got from scrapping Irish. They just have a coloured mask on them and gold plate underneath.
@ I’m proud to know my stickers are living in beautiful Scotland 🏴 😁 Irish has lots of great knowledge with gold, I’ve definitely learned a few things from him.
Few pots full of precious here and I just did a first weigh in the other day, 65kg in Ali transformers, 15kg in scrap cable (odds and ends plus thin thin wires) and 30kg light iron in flattened steel shells. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m debating taking some microwave transformers tomorrow.. should I be happy with 0.50 motors price or should I be looking for a copper price please?
@rememberremember3489 if they are aluminium transformers then I'd take them in as motors. If they are copper transformers then strip them. Nice weigh in with the other materials
Car wheel balancing weights, record player arms and valux windows all are a good source of lead brother my favourite metal is tin. Awesome episode brother
@ScrappingScotland a by product of e waste processing all the boards contain tin mine gets processed just like the gold and silver. Also old tin has a grey dull look about it. Best way to get a blowtorch if it melts quickly then tin. The garrett apex picks tin out between 54 and 58.
@@seamusmcelroy8352 sell them on Ebay. That's the only way you will get money for them. Unless your yard takes them as aluminium breakage for the ones that aren't glass.
Great video mate , nice rundown of the various metal for the newbies into scrapping, been out in my worship today and yes it’s starting to get cold now , going get heater set up tomorrow so I can keep worm when scrapping , keep up the good work mate 👍😁
You can soak the gold bearing circuit boards in hydrochloric acid and over the period of a couple weeks the gold foils will separate from the fiber boards, the foils are usually around 12 carat gold and can easily be melted into a small bar or button.
Your scrap yard is really mean and making money from your hard work . In Birmingham ,we get a high grade for single cables ,and brass is anything like fuses and not separate. I know they all work different and you still have to shop around as lead batteries for instance is worth more per kilo than another local one
@simodo11 definitely buddy. One price for Aluminium is one that annoys me from them and they won't take Aluminium cans either. Apart from that they are good guys there. Peaks and troughs really
@@ScrappingScotland I was talking about the weights they use to balance the wheel. They are smaller now then back in the days. But when I need lead I go there or melt fishing weights.
@PremierPlastering they change all the time buddy. I hoard the brass and the copper till the prices go up. As a hobby scrapper I don't have massive quantities of the other metals so it's not a huge hit to take.

Best source of lead is wheel weights at tire shops
@richardhulbert9480 i took some of some rims last week and they were steel not lead. Disappointed
