My roommate is a vampire is on minn physical tbr. I'm saving it for when I just need something easy and ridiculous and I hope it will give me that, even if it isn't particularily "good".
All three of these books are on my tbr (although Powerless is on it mostly because one of my besties has read it and I want to give it a chance for her sake). I am currently reading “In the Lives of Puppets” by TJ Klune & “I’m Afraid You’ve Got Dragons” by Peter S. Beagle.
I really enjoyed "My Roommate is a Vampire," but it was definitely a case of right book, right time. I just needed a light, fun good time and this filled it perfectly. It also helped that it was a romance novel that didn't have huge amounts of spice, which my Ace self appreciated. "A Tempest of Tea" was just disappointing for me. The synopsis sounded so good, but the execution... I wanted to see more of the tea/blood house, I wanted to see more of Arthie's interaction with different vampires. The romance with Jin and Flick could definitely have been slowed down and moved to book two to make room for more actual action and plot in this one. Also, currently re-reading "The Parable of the Sower," and once more reeling at how accurate Octavia Butler was in her predictions of what 2024 and 2025 would be like.
The way The Traitors is just the Werewolf/Mafia party game but as a show haha. The kids I look after at summer camp always beg me to play it and I do really love it myself, so not much begging is required 😂
I love building Legos and learning to a audible book it's very relaxing I'm reading the The Hunger Games because of the Sunrise on the reaping next omg i can't wait and the just announced who's going to be in narrating the audiobook this morning and they gave a sample of the audiobook and it sounds amazing 🤩
@jessethereader I just finished a flower bouquet set I love the botanical sets very nice on bookshelf I think reading the Hunger Games book is a good idea especially catching fire because they do have that one scene about second quarter quell
I've read all three and was hella disappointed by powerless (also gave it a 3) but really enjoyed the two others... My roommate is a vampire was the silly goofy time I needed to get me out of a reading slump and Tempest of Tea was one of the rare heist books I've enjoyed so far... 🙈
10:13 slow burn except the characters are attracted to each other within the first 10 pages they meet 🥴 sorry, as a true slow burn reader, powerless was NOT a slow burn 😭
I read A Tempest of Tea last year and also thought it was just an okay book. I personally had a hard time connecting with the characters and caring about their relationships so in a book that seems to be pushing found family and romantic elements, it didn't really work for me. :/ I'm currently reading A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft and relistening to Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Both are great so far! :)
i really enjoyed Powerless, it was just a silly goofy time. same with Fourth Wing; are they the greatest works of literature? no. are they tropey as hell? yes. was i entertained? also yes.
Do you recommend Red Queen? I'm currently reading People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry and The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden. Two firsts for me from these authors and outside my typical genres. Yay for working towards reading goals 🎉🎉
I liked my roommate is a vampire more than tempest of tea, which was my worst reading of last year because I had expectations it would be good and I didn't like the writing and the characters, I only cared about Jem. I think I gave a better rating for roommate because I liked the romance, but the ending could've been done better. there's a sequel, I'm thinking about reading because the friend was my favorite character, and he's the MMC
OMG I love Traitors. This season, for me, isn't fully about wanting the Faithfuls to win or the Traitors to win I want either one of the Faithfuls to win or one of the Traitors to win. lol :)
I haven't read Powerless yet, but My Roommate is a Vampire and A Tempest of Tea were both reads in my book club last year. Everyone in my club really liked My Roommate is a Vampire (mostly because we had read 2 intense books in a row before reading it), but one of my members actually read the sequel and said it was better. And then A Tempest of Tea was also generally liked, but it was one of my member's favorite book club picks out of all the books we read last year.
The real question is do you think you'll continue the powerless series, reckless and then fearless in April ??!?!?!?? I need answers. Love your content btw keep up the great. work i do hope you back gets better, maybe a massage gun will help
I DNF'd Tempest of Tea which breaks my heart but the writing really irked me? The over exposition as if I'm not smart enough to understand nuances or metaphors.
Love you Jesse even though you don't notice or know me. But I think I met you one time in passing in 2019. I've been a subscriber to your channel for years, one of the silent viewers. ❤🎉
_ohmygod they were ROOMMATES!_ 😆
Great reading vlog, as always.❤

That's smart! It's definitely a fun read!
Turns out, he's a room mate!! Hahahha
😆😆😆
Takes "They were just roommates" to a whole new level lol
RIGHT lol
I got a perks of being a wallflower tattoo done a few weeks ago, and it’s AMAZING!!! 😁
ahh! amazing!
@ I’d love to send a picture of it to you somehow!! Anyway I’m able to do that?
I plan to read A tempest of tea but I think I am going to read it when the second book comes out.

I loved this video! ❤

Right?! Simple concept yet SO addicting aha

ahhh so excited for sunrise on the reaping. i'm also thinking about doing a re-read! what lego set are you working on?
@jessethereader I just finished a flower bouquet set I love the botanical sets very nice on bookshelf I think reading the Hunger Games book is a good idea especially catching fire because they do have that one scene about second quarter quell
I really liked my roommate is a vampire until the ending! The ending made my rating go down so much
SAME! I was so annoyed haha

I just started my reread of the entire Cosmere. (Not all in February though.)
I love that!!
10:13 slow burn except the characters are attracted to each other within the first 10 pages they meet 🥴 sorry, as a true slow burn reader, powerless was NOT a slow burn 😭
hm i understand what you mean, but i feel like it's slow burn in terms of them getting together.
I read A Tempest of Tea last year and also thought it was just an okay book. I personally had a hard time connecting with the characters and caring about their relationships so in a book that seems to be pushing found family and romantic elements, it didn't really work for me. :/

I had to dnf powerless and a tempest of tea so hard
understandable!! though i had fun with powerless... i completely understand why so many people loathe it haha
i really enjoyed Powerless, it was just a silly goofy time. same with Fourth Wing; are they the greatest works of literature? no. are they tropey as hell? yes. was i entertained? also yes.
I'm reading a scifi heist called Hammajang Luck! And my book club is going to start The Foxhole Court.
I had no clue that powerless was so similar to red queen 😱
Do you recommend Red Queen? I'm currently reading People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry and The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden. Two firsts for me from these authors and outside my typical genres. Yay for working towards reading goals 🎉🎉
i'm currently reading american psycho by brett easton ellis and its definitely something

The traitors have been SO messy this season! haha
I think I rated a tempest of tea 2.5 stars too. I was so disappointed cause I was expecting to love it. Idk how you make vampires and heists boring.
Fun vlog! Hope your back got better quickly. My current read is *The God of the Woods*.
thank you! i went to the chiropractor recently, *but* i think i'm going to have to go back soon. i'll have to look up the god of the woods.

My ratings for A Tempest of Tea and Powerless were exactly the same. Both just kind of underwhelming, but Powerless did have some fun elements.
glad i'm not alone!! i'm still sad about a tempest of tea.
The real question is do you think you'll continue the powerless series, reckless and then fearless in April ??!?!?!?? I need answers. Love your content btw keep up the great. work i do hope you back gets better, maybe a massage gun will help
i think i'd only read the sequels to powerless if i hear the ending of the series is worth it. hehe.
@jessethereader fair enough, I'm currently reading reckless right now, I'll let you know if it's worth it ☺️☺️
I love black clover!!😍
it's such a fun series!! :D
That really sounded like you were calling the found family trope a hoe😂
LOL
I hope your back is better. Maybe your swimming will help. ❤
HE IS A ROOMMATE!!
