I'm glad you're doing this series. As an old RQ2 player, I've some questions about how some of the changes would work out. Looks like they work just fine. Great cast, too. Really looking forward to more episodes.
Josephine's character was pure Rune Priest badass - armoured like a tank and riding a grizzled war-flamingo. Runequest's rules are bonkers crunchy and take some time to get fluent. But Noura should totally have one-shotted on that crit ;)
I think Aldryami replace the Beast rune with Plant, so they are Man/Plant instead of Man/Beast. The Man rune represents the bipedal form, not just humans.
Tactical advice for augments - never use an ability below 50% to augment something, you are more likely to make it worse than to help! Noura lucked out with the sing.
So you guys and gals did your job well. I watched this series then went down to my local gaming store and picked up the core book and beginner box. It's so good
I get the impression that Troy, Josephine and Joe wanted to play aholes and chaos agents and then along comes Noura wanting to be all nice and cute and making them look bad lol
@@kalsong1 What I was thinking too. There's no Greece in Glorantha (I'm just guessing though), and these are tree people. I wonder if the rulebooks go deep into their anatomy, and gender dynamics anyways.
1:52:20 Sorry, but critical impaling hit does double the weapon damage maxed and it ignores armor. Elf bow with critical does 18 pnts of damage (max of 2D8+2) and ignores armor. Hitting chest, it should kill the guy instantly. That's the diffence between critical and special. I've seen a dream dragon one shotted with a heavy crossbow with critical. Sorry to say, but his understanding of the combat rules aren't the best. If you parry succesfully a failed attack, you damage the attacking weapon, you don't cause damage to the attacker himself. Armor generally doesn't lose points from attacks. Bows will attack at your DEX SR and need 5 strike ranks to reload. With DEX SR 3, your first shot is at SR 3 and second is at SR 11 (DEX SR 3 + reload SR 5 + DEX SR 3). I've played RQ for almost 30 years. Best way to explain RQ combat is that it's real time with pause in TT format.
Be helpful and supportive. He's looking up second sight, so we're not talking about a GM with everything at their fingertips (and with RQ that takes a lot of time). Make suggestions and corrections and he'll get better and better.
I picked up Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha. Getting through character creation was rough - Real rough. Having to note down the subject discussed in the beginning and the starting #'s, then having to go to the section or chapter for the options and mechanics was soooo annoying. Beautifu l visuals but, design is terrible for ease of use. I have to get 5 wild monkeys through character creation in any RPG and Choasium does not make it easy. Why isn't it sequential?
I respectfully disagree, but I've been playing RQ since about 1977, sp it may just be my long-time familiarity with the system that makes it easier. Also, the Screen can save you a lot of time.
I agree. I started playing only because I found that someone created a spreadsheet that helps. There is also a background generator out there. Very helpful.
It's just a fact of Roleplaying that a very large number of players across the spectrum goof with their names. At least Glorantha has a history of weird goofy names, which helps.
"Not on my sundial" was an underappreciated joke. :)
Criminal that it went under everyone's radar! :P
Brian is a great GM. His sarcasm is spot on. I hope he comes back soon.
I hope this becomes a Long form game!!! I want to see more of this system!!
Long form! Long form! There's so much to do in Glorantha
In the original Trollpak, I was tickled by the idea that in terms of diet, trolls cobsidered elves to be vegetables.
I knew things were gonna go off the rails as soon as Noura got into character. It's gonna be great.
Holy cannoli! Before I flipped from podcast too video I thought Noura in character was Paula Deming. Incredible!
I love how you can see the sun rising outside the window behind Brian!
One note - you can't cast Bladesharp on a mace - you have to case Bludgeon.on a mace or any ther crushing weapon.
"I may be anti gluten, but im pro small business"
😂
After so many hours as a vampire, scoundrel, occult professor... Noura is living her best self.
"I don't make fun of your games, Brian. I try to make real characters."

Thanks!
Noura's characters always crack me up 😂 from call of Cthulhu to Runequest!
A critical attack with the bow should have been maximum Special damage and bypassing armor. 17 points to the chest. Dead or dying.
Josephine's reaction to Noura's character voice
Also Brian was up before the birds to run this game. The dawn happening in the background.
Rex Manheim, Assistant TO THE Shaman
I continue to be exited to watch these!
This is a a very entertaining playthrough.
Thanks!
So cool amd i knew the heavy trooper was going to smash. Love the D100 system its just better then the standard D20 style.
Joe, you totally were robbed of your damage bonus on the parry, but the damage would go to the weapon and not the attacker.

Loving this play through so far! Can’t wait for more
Noura & Josephine are exceptionally on in this epz. Dog, that was fun! And great DMing!
We all just witnessed a beautiful sunrise behind Brian 😅 Great episode!

Every time Noura's character speaks I start counting the number of times she says "like".

This is great. And hilarious.
Runequest doesn't get enough 'live play' attention.
OMG - I love Nouras character🥰🤣 Sooo fun and funny🤣🥰 Noura rules! 🥰🥰😇😇
Wilma T. Wulferhävenshireson.
@Josephine Human sacrifice, yay!
Skill increases are +1d6 , not just 1
Or a flat 3 iirc, if ya don't wanna roll.
1:13:00 Troy going full Witchsmeller Pursuivant there
My gods, it's a Boris and Natasha festival here!
Runequest is so fun. My group had an injoke that a 10 on hit location was their ass. Just something silly to add flavor
Wow, peak Noura, so well done
The rest of the world would appreciate it! Lol.
So you guys and gals did your job well. I watched this series then went down to my local gaming store and picked up the core book and beginner box. It's so good
How do we get this group together for more episodes?
Aimed blows in combat are at half chance , not -20 %
I get the impression that Troy, Josephine and Joe wanted to play aholes and chaos agents and then along comes Noura wanting to be all nice and cute and making them look bad lol
Sadly, Skeptokles would be a masculine name. The feminine would be Skeptoklea.
Is that for elf names, or greek?
This is an "um, actually" that is actually fun and delightful. Well played.

Is the Duck people game not realistic enough? 😀
Like Patrokles and Cleopatra

Yeah , the GM is running the parrying in combat wrong

Running this remote with 4 players new to RQ is really REALLY hard.
Jesus, my eyes rolled so far back in my head they're facing forward again.
I always wondered what Kim Kardashian would be like in the Bronze Age. Now I know
I thought everyone was from the same clan? They should know each other.
Hey just hate the same clan.
Howard the Duck's cousin?
Ahhh ducks! Yes! I thought I read - or maybe projected - that ducks would be related to dragons and newts.

The first time can be a bit difficult. It's super intuitive if you get it though.
They could have done a better job with the layout.
I love Runequest, and these players, and I truly hate their names. It takes me way out of the fantasy.

@@Thumbdumpandthebumpchump I'm aware, which doesn't mean I have to like it.
