I read the novel version of this SO many times in highschool and now also own the comic in the AVP omnibus. This story and Machiko Noguchi have a special place in my heart
I’ve read the novel as well and was surprised at how funny some of the chapters could be, mostly the ones from Dechandes perspective. Like the time he tried to fight another male, only to be thrown flat on his ass when he accidentally bumped into a female who was crossing his path.
If it was just the two people talking then I would say it was a bit unbalance but yautja acted as a counterpoint to the man talking about going back to nature.
It would work very well but I'd want it done with a built set like a western and no CGI ans the samurai type fighting rather than brawling in AVP. They could have this as a stand alone for both franchise's but with the same look as aliens in the ships and tech. They could do exactly this beat for beat and it would be a hit. Really wish they'd stuck to this story when making the AvP film. I'd read the novelization WAY before the movie came out and was SO disappointed with the "adaptation" they filmed. You can see the basics are in there but setting it in the modern age, and removing all the Predator point of view stuff really made a mess of things.
