@@thelaw3536 Problem with that is other people also take creeps, and some have better waveclear than you, so keeping your rage up is hard. Especially with how little most things give rage. Melee attacks give the most rage, everything else seems to give very little, so unless you constantly have creeps around you're not gonna be able to keep it up.
Suggestion: hover over the item description a little longer when explaining the item. It helps those of us who are not too familiar with the item effects!
I also want to point out how strong of an item Ammo scavenger is. At max stacks it provides a total of 26 spirit power. A big chunk of the knife damage came from a tier 1 item. Some tier 3 items don't even provide the spirit power Ammo scanenger provides. at 11:00 Ammo scavenger was providing 31% of his spirit power. A tier 1 item.
seems like a decent consideration for pocket or warden (or yamato?) since they make good use of both their guns and spirit power. i’ve mostly avoided ammo items because i feel like other tier 1s give more value if you manage your ammo properly, but this comment provides some good insight into heroes in which it might be a good item.
I'm surprised it hasn't popped off harder in the meta because it gives so much opportunity space. You need to manage your ammo efficiently when poking so you don't miss CS on a reload. Ammo scavenger lets you poke aggressively and CS plus it translates to so much more damage on knives. Wouldnt surprise if it gets nerfed at some point.
arguably the only reason why he and most others get decay is because it's free (spirit) damage on whomever is hit. stacking decay with bleed is one of the things that gives shiv so much survivability early on because of spirit lifesteal. usually, most people will get decay if they want to win the early game.
shiv seems pretty interesting with a spirit build i kind of want to try him now. these kinds of considerations are things that i’m trying to take into account more often lately as i try to learn the item system and eventually start making my own active decisions while building.
its for rage gain. it literally says why in a few builds its also just generally good since anti heal and nice dmg. but for shiv its better than anyone else because of the rage gain

You can abuse the mechanic that 2 ppl get the max amount of souls in the same lane until 10 min mark. In pre made matches teams are totally abusing the mechanic. You have 2 people that keep staling their lane and one hero that keeps rotating between those lanes. He then pushes the lane as hard as possible and rotates again. A lot of people are calling for a change of this atm, Since you can have 2 players per team that essentially get almost 2x the amout of souls. And Decay is just great since it's another dot that brings the enemy low and even denies regen. So basically even faster time to execute. Your rage usually never falls off while laning. Edit: And after i wrote this, I realized that Valve actually fixed the exploit a few days ago.
This was an insightful watch. I learned a bunch. Would you mind breaking down the fight sequences, how they are using their abilities to be maximally effective? When its all happening it seems like pure chaos from my view.
I was wrong about that. Sorry. I posted the correction in the pinned comment, but Bloodletting is displayed as purple in your death recap but is not actually any damage type. Unfortunately, you can't mitigate it
i think u didnt emphasize on why he was rotating so much early game. this was a lane abuse people are doing in high bracket. they shove the wave fast and then they go to side lane and soak the exp getting more souls from that lane. pre 10 mins u get duplicate soul for every lane when ur lane mate cs. so basically u are getting double the souls per wave if u push ur wave but ur side lane doesnt push and u connect to get that wave souls too (especially solo lane side lane works the best as u get equal soul duplication and more than 2 players in a lane will share less after that) but they fixed this today ... so i predict these rotations will not be happening that often. maybe for helping out lanes they will rotate but it will not be that optimal anymore. new patch fixed the early game rotation to get double wave abuse. Today at 4:08 PM - Fixed players being able to exploit soul sharing across multiple lanes to earn more souls than intended. The way the fix is implemented is that each player can only be considered for an enemy trooper death event 4 times per wave number during the laning phase.
like in this game warden is solo laner. so he was taking cs in his lane with yamato which they share equally(notice the agressively push it while warden wave is still there). then he rotates to warden lane and takes the same wave cs equally splitting the wave souls. this was the double wave soul abuse lot of high bracket players are doing it double the souls during lane.
Edit due to duplication he should actually always rotate to the solo lane to push it after oushing his own since it's loss spirt otherwise. This only aplies for first 10 mins
If you're referencing the double soaking that we're seeing tournament teams use, then ya I think that's optimal, but I would imagine Valve will patch that out in the future. I also think that double soaking is harder to pull off in solo queue
Thank you! I've really struggled with making heads or tails with Shiv and this helped out a good bit. I'm fairly new to moba's, but not competitive gaming, so im picking it up fairly quick. There is an area I'm struggling in however. In the mid/late game, there's this point where I feel like everyone is just *waiting*. Most if not all first guardians/walkers are taken by this point. It seems like an easy fix if you can communicate with your team, but how can I meaningfully contribute when both sides are doing nothing AND your team isnt talking? I end up hesitant to do push on the guardians near base from fear of being CC descended on and throwing the match. Would love to hear your opinion on how to handle it.
Mid game can be hard. My rule of thumb would be if you have a souls lead and you're strong. You want to either push objectives or try to gank. If you're behind in souls, I would focus on farming lanes that get pushed and farming the jungle. It's hard to give specifics because mid game is very context specific, but that's my general advice
