This method speeds the rehydration process because the liquid does not have to penetrate the full depth /thickness in order to get to the bottom of the product.😊❤

@@steph6337 assuming you're using a water pot with a lid, to boil water on a grill without a side burner, best would be to remove the grates of the grill and clean the whole thing. There's no reason to close the lid of the grill, just get that pot over one of the flame bars.
When it comes down to it, having a propane single burner is going to be a lot easier, and won't produce smoke and or smell like a even mostly clean grill.

My favorite is buying whole chickens and boiling them, pulling off all the meat, freeze drying that and then turning the bones into bone meal for my garden.
Freeze drying my own raw egg powder was also fantastic. Reconstitutes just like freshly cracked eggs ready to scramble.
I've done ground beef, ham, roasts, pulled pork, meatloaf, chili and so much more.

You are a great service to us, showing what is available and how to get it. I must say you keep things rational and down to earth with this freesedry stuff. I would be interested in simple powders in large quantities like eggs, milk and beef etc. The basic source of calories and protein. Maybe some shakes and smoothies to get really going without all the hassle. Maybe there is rice in instant or hard blocks to boil in 3 minutes? Packaging should be stackable and at least in daily quantities ready to serve. Great show.

I know someone personally that would have benefitted greatly from only just a small amount of below-ground protection during a hurricane and also resultant tornadoes. My comment was a suggestion to those who do not, if it would be helpful. A tornado shelter is not the same as a basement, but will work better than just sitting inside a house, in a wind-related emergency. I would think anyone living in any area that is called "tornado alley" should have or plan to have some sort of underground protection, even a small root cellar, as I suggested.

FD Fruit ended up saving me $$ since it does not go bad quickly, where I was throwing out fresh fruit that spoiled.
The price on the steak was a gulper, but frankly steak at the grocery store is a gulper too. Our local Fareway has wagu rib eye 12 oz steaks for $50 this week. “Regular” rib eyes are $23/lb. Suddenly the fd steak price is reasonable.
