My favorite part of 2021 has been track and field. It’s helped celebrate and unite humanity. I’ve cheered , screamed in disbelief 🤯, discovered new athletes to love, and have never been this excited about our sport. I may not compete anymore, but track & field will always be my favorite.
We have a lot going for us in the running disciplines. For the technical disciplines there's Henriette Jæger which is an up and coming heptathlete, but that's pretty much it ATM.
I appreciate the context and build up to that new world record of his, which obviously was no accident, but the culmination of years of effort, progressive improvement, and dedication.
I can’t wait. Warlhom is a beast but he and Benjamin bring out the best in each other. I think Benjamin gets him this time with both of them breaking the former world record.
Don't forget the Brazilian guy who finished just behind Warholm in that world record race. Watch the video above again and notice how close he was, and that he was not breaking form and holding stride after hurdle #10. I'd call this a 3-man race in Tokyo and anyone who doesn't bring their A+ game is not going to be in it. There's also a Swedish(?) gal who recently almost ran under 52 seconds in the 400IH, so the women's race should be a 3-person barn-burner, too. Can't wait for these two races!!
He is such an insane talent, has very good acceleration, very good pace and top speed, incredible speed endurance and stamina but above all that his determination and willingness and mental strenght is mythical. Being able to dominate the world for such a long time and run a world record in the most difficult track event especially as a caucasion athlete is out of this world. May not compete on the same level in other events but should be considered as one of the elite athletes of all time.
And now he has crushed his own world record in the Olympic with the time 45.96. You are a beast when you compete in the Olympic and crush your own world record with 72 hundreds of a sec. we Norwegians is immensely proud of him.
This is great news. I love seeing athletes from countries all around the world, and I can't wait to see him compete at the Olympics less then 3 weeks away. Definitely an event to watch, and I would assume that the US will be showing that event, at least I would hope.

Well... He didn't start specializing in hurdles until then. As a junior, he competed in pretty much all track and field events, including decathlon, and he held the Norwegian junior record in 400m (no hurdles). Also, he was 19 in 2015.

Scientist have been making research on the new shoes (nike viperfly - guess benjamins shoes have the same ability) and they said they will give the atlete 3 - 4 % advantage over old shoes. i posted this earlier, but here goes again. while moses was best in his generation... he only has ONE time in the top 16 all-time times. warholm has 8. who cares about length of time dominating if the times are miles apart. plus warholm's best time is .32 faster than moses's best. that is 1/3 of a second. absolute domination. in a head-to-head battle, warholm would absolutely embarrass moses. there is no doubt about this. times are as good as FACTS. at this point in time, warholm is head and shoulders above all others ever.

Moses changed the game and that's a true legend. Then again that made the competition a lot harder and it's never been harder. Don't think Warholm can make it a decade, but it's still so incredibly impressive.
I just want to mention that he became world champion his second season as a ft hurdler. And even in 2018 when he kept losing to Samba and McMaster, he was actually running the fastest he'd ever run at that time. He'd improved but it got overshadowed by the losing. He's 🔥

I feel obligated to root for the Rai Benjamin upset for the US of A, but I feel conflicted. I love watching Warholm holler, slap himself, get hype and then dominate and maintain the hype train.
This dude is a freak of nature....he doesn't even get the timing perfect on his jumps and even stutter steps into a hurdle or two...I didn't analyze it for his steps between hurdles, but this guy is amazing. And if you just look at him running....(no hurdle) he doesn't even look like a world class sprinter. so weird. hats off this this guy.

You have to respect anyone who can break a World Record running alone (33.26 300m hurdles) 5:50. The 300m hurdles is a high school event in America, so the senior American record, which is also the high school record is 35.02.

The most impressive thing for me , even though it was a 400 meter race not a 100 he had enough energy to run completely through the finish.

However, Dos Santos in third (46.72), beat Kevin Young's record (46.78), that Warholm bettered a month ago. Kyron McMaster in fourth (47.08) set a new national record for the British Virgin Islands, but he didn't beat any of the recent world records.
