    I want to install this to carry my dirt bike. Weighs 245 lbs. Guessing it will drop my front end an inch. I am thinking of using the The Switch Hauler as the mount to attach my bike to. Truck is stock currently but it's getting lifted 2.5 inches. It's a JT Mojave. Whattya think? Built an overland vehicle and it's a PITA being on the back of the truck or in the rear hitch..

      Shouldn’t sag much but that’s going to depend on your lift springs. I don’t know how much it will block your view?

    If you get stuck going over an obstacle, or through one, then pulling yourself forward is probably not the best solution. And if you do pull yourself forward and through/over the obstacle, then you'd likely have to go back over/through the obstacle you got stuck on. Just makes sense to be able to use it on the front or back and I'm surprised no one has a modular way of doing it without using the low and forward positioning of a hitch. Just imagine if Jeep, or someone else, offered front and rear bumper with a modular center section where you could clip the winch unit in and out of.

      Sounds like you have an idea that can make some money! It would probably need two vertical sliding retainers to move it front to rear but I think there would be a significant market for it

    I've never liked putting even a cargo carrier on a receiver hitch... It just doesn't seem sturdy enough to me... I've done it, but never liked it... I've seen too many people with bike carriers on the receiver mounted carrier with the bike carrier moving back and forth and them nearly hitting the vehicle... I think they should make it so that there are 3 of the 2" receiver square tubes -- one in the center and one on each end, maybe 18-24" to the side of the center one...

    Cool I am thinking of doing the same thing. Don't feel like getting a aftermarket bumper and winch plate. What size winch you running?

      I have a 9500. It’s been fine. 1.5x loaded vehicle weight. 12,000 is fine but overkill anything over that is just a waste

    Could you tell me more about the cutting of the bumper cover? Also, I see you're in NJ - Can I pay you to install my hitch :) lol

      The air dam is easy to cut. Mark where it needs to fit vertically then test fit until you cut it Deep enough to fit. You can use almost any saw/cutting tool. Probably 5-10 minute job.
      I can do anything for the right price but most people would say I’m too expensive

      @@steamman9193 -- As Michael Douglas said in one of the "Romancing the Stone" movies, "I might not be cheap, but I CAN be bought"... :)
      EDITED -- Looked it up... I remember wrong... The line was, "I ain't cheap, but I can be had"... Oh well, close...

    Thanks for the video. I’m thinking of the same concept, just substitute snow with mud (Florida).
    I’m just hoping that the mud stuck suction + JL ≠ > 4.5T 🤞🏼
    I also want to put some kind of skid plate with this. Sounds like someone (not me) will be cutting and fabricating.

      Awesome and good luck with it. We have a sandy mud where I live so it’s not terrible but I know how some mud can be super slick yet binding. It’s really not hard to do yourself but shouldn’t take anyone more than an hour to install start to finish if you have a handy friend

    I’m about to do the same thing. The only thing I’m concerned about is the hitch getting in the way when wheeling. Have you experienced any problems with that?

    • @steamman9193
      @steamman9193  2 года назад

      The hitch itself doesn’t sit low. The problem would be if you mount a winch in it it will be further forward and lower than a bumper mount and effect your approach angle. For rock crawlers it’s a problem, for muddy fields and forest roads it just may take a different line at worst
