This is SO cool!!! I've been trying to find a method to create half tones to send to my CNC machine to carve from wood. Only able to find "meh" newsprint methods but THIS is rocket science and totally bad-ass. Been trying on my photography and super cool. Note: A bit of a memory suck so had to use on my newer system with more juice. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this tip!
Thanks for the inspiration. I don't know for you, but cosmetic value aside, I think the interest of having a dark theme on any application would be to get easier to work on for the eyes. Personnally, I also recommend to turn down the opacity of the background to a nice midtone gray. I'd have to check if the original for the tiled clones can be saved and modified to apply modification to the rest of the clones, it would be really great.
Hi Nick, awesomissimo Video again! i would love to see more Tuts about halftones. As i am a Shirt Printer.... this would be GREAT! thank you again and i managed to download your logo templates! *Everybody outthere, go and get for only 10 bucks a lot of cool logo templates to learn, create and understand inkscape!!!!*
Hello, great tutorial as always. I have two doubts, why is the white rectangle used? I have already seen that without it it does not work. Why do you put two layers? They are necessary? Thank you.
There seems to be a limit on clones by size. If you make the original small enough, it will not fill the entire space specified (will not create clones beyond a certain number. Not sure what that number is yet, but it is too small for what I need.
Can anyone help -I've tried for two hours to do this and i just keep getting a box full of circles. The 'trace the drawing under the clones..' is ticked. I watched the tut a couple of times first then did it side side in IS so i know I'm not missing a step . Im using version 0.92. Any ideas why its not happening for me?
Halftone is amazing to represent shadow or fading gradients. This is gold.
6 years later and still a good one Thanks Nick!
Just downloaded inkscape last night, found your videos today and I am absolutely addicted! Please keep up the uploads! Your work is amazing bro :)

Neat trick, Nick. Hope you are well again.
You're a life saver! Greetings from the distant future!
always great tutorials. I really like your style and the intro at the beginning - reminds me to routinely organise myself in Inkscape before I start.
Thanks for the inspiration.
