Are you using USB? The USB input is notoriously poor on the Metrum DACs, make sure to use AES or even better, i2s. There will be a DRASTIC jump in sound quality vs USB. Metrum recommends I2s… you can use the Ambre (which is even better with a Mutec MC3). Or a Pink Faun I2S card on your audio PC.
Is that bad... i am considering a Pavane L1 but i mainly will use it through usb. As alternative i am thinking of chord qutest ... much cheaper but i suppose with better usb input. It would be nice to have your opinion...

Looks nice but way over budget. Difficult to find a detailed yet analogue sounding dac under 2500 US that isn't made in China.
I won't consider any MIC dacs. There are still so many nice dacs available in the market today!
