Morton Castle, Thornhill, Dumfries & Galloway

The impressive ruins of Morton Castle overlook the artificial Morton Loch to the north of Thornhill in Dumfries & Galloway near Durisdeer. The site of a castle since at least the 12th century it was in use until around 1715, latterly as a hunting lodge.
