My home town. Dumfries has suffered badly from losing the ICI and Gates Rubber factories. Glad to see it's looking a bit better than when i was last there.
My mother was born in Dumfries, one of 8 children. As a child she would go to her grandmother's on Wallace Street after school. I've done a pretty large genealogy workup on the family. Sadly the depression forced a move to Glasgow. She is 98 today, living in Woodstock, IL USA, a war bride. Last name Steel, ancestors Wallace, McNaught, Wilson. Dumfries is a lot larger than I imagined. Thanks for the tour.
Very nice walk through Dumfries town centre on a lovely sunny day. You rightly lingered at Burn's Statue, Burn's House and the Mausoleum. However, you passed The Globe Inn - Burns' favourite howff - without a second glance! Hope you were able to visit the Camera Obscura that day, as the images would have been stunning. Thanks for posting this.
What a lovely Post and Dumfries so nice to walk around with lovely shops not like some places all boarded up including where I live thank you for sharing really enjoyed ❤
Thank u for the nice walk about in Dumfries i was born in Qressswell hospital Dumfries i have lived in Northants England for many years now as some family here ,i sure would love a holiday back home I don't travel well sadly 👍🤗🙏💖🇬🇧
I can't prove it but I was friends of a friend of Calvin Harris 20 years ago, back when he was basically a typical young lad, into his drink and waccy baccy, never got to know him that well he just was along for the ride with me and my pals, who would of guessed he became famous.
The last time I visited Dumfries (about 5 years ago admittedly), there was a stramash going on with the local delinquents at the top of the vennel. It's getting more like Glasgow City centre with rubbish around the streets and pavements dug up and backfilled with foreign naterial. There was bin rubbish spilling over down English street, but sanity prevailed when the wife and I had a nice lunch in Barbours? Restaurant. Many years ago I lived in the clean and polished town of Kirkcudbright. Just saying. 😅

I lived in this town on Shakespeare's and it's full of hate. I never blessed this town never will
Hey, Why was it full of hate?
I'm sure it will survive without your blessing! Perhaps you were the cause of any "hate"
