Thanks for the info. I have a wicked blister on my left foot. I’ve been doing 15mile pt walks everyday except Sunday’s. I found this video highly informative and insightful. 3#green boys.
I have a deroofed blister right along my right heel. I’m a type one diabetic and had it wrapped up and it wouldn’t heal. I let it air dry a few days after a hydrocolloid plaster and it healed in three days.
I had a deroofed blister which I used a hydrocolloid one, was working fine but after 3days came unstuck. The blister seems to be dry/has a thin transparent layer over the base. Should I apply another hydrocolloid? Or just antiseptic/petroleum and an island dressing? Also, does hydrogen peroxide work as an antiseptic?
Oh, and hydrogen peroxide is not a great antiseptic. It will put on quite a show and look quite impressive with all the bubbles, but povidone iodine (eg: Betadine) is better.
Walked barefoot on a deroofed blister within a deroofed blister It got pretty painful and got red and dripping wet. Also got a super filled blister on same foot, just punctured it to release fluid Roof is still intact, and I am waiting to see if it will heal with roof on
Hi I have a deroofed blister and it’s big on my ankle very red should I let the air get to it or clean it put neosporin on it and cover it with a bandaid at all times?
I don't own any shoes or socks, and I've got a blister due to the rapid change of weather. I've just got home, and it's wet outside. I've been home for about an hour, and my blisters are huge.
Hello, I currently have a “deroofed blister” the same size and location of the one in the video picture. I’ve been using a liquid antiseptic to clean it and Neosporin to dress it while wrapping it with gauze to somewhat let it breathe. Should I be using a bandage to completely seal it off so no air gets to it, or is the gauze acceptable? Also, the center has become very red as if developing a blood clot from walking on it. Is that normal or should I be concerned and take more preventative measures? Thanks in advance!
You need an island dressing, not just gauze. See this video ruclips.net/video/gRi0TEaT9nQ/видео.html. And yes, more preventive measures are needed. See this article for more www.blisterprevention.com.au/blogs/blister-blog/blisters-under-the-ball-of-your-foot
@@maxwaters1461 You mean you can't find a bandaid the right size? Then you need to make your own with some sterile gauze and tape (Fixomull Stretch / CoverRoll Stretch will work best). You can get all this from the chemist if you don't have it at home. Also, watch this in case it helps: ruclips.net/video/q1Iqqyr0TCE/видео.html
I have huge deroofed blisters on the ball AND heel on BOTH FEET. I didn't realize how bad it was until the next day. I'm bedridden now, I can't take a single step without being in so much pain. Thankfully I have polysporin and hydrocolloid dressings on hand so I crawled on my hands and knees to it and to use the bathroom. I hope this heals quickly 😢
This is about friction blisters. By definition, you have a torn blister. If you cut what remains of the blister roof off, you'll have a deroofed blister.
Soooo i had a blister on the bottom of my foot. I poked holes around it with a sterilized needle and squeezed out the fluid till it was flat. I rubbed my whole foot with alcohol and put a gauze pad on it then bandaged it up. This morning i checked and even tho it's smaller, it's a blister again. When should i worry? I think i might of made a mistake when poking it, i should've left it alone but i couldn't walk if i didn't.
Hey John, thanks for the very good question. It is surprising how the skin can reseal after you've put holes in it. Even with a scalpel (that's what I use) they can seal over within half a day and start refilling again. So the lancing procedure needs to be done again. It sounds like you've done a great job with your lancing and infection control procedure. Just for reference, here's my blog post on the matter: www.blister-prevention.com/should-you-pop-a-blister/ The only thing you may not have thought of is the necessity of taking away all the blister-causing forces, so the skin stops being subjected to the damage and so blister fluid will stop being produced. I suspect your blister is under the ball of your foot, so here's how to maximise that: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-on-bottom-of-foot/
I got some new shoes I developed blisters in the middle of my foot under my middle toes. It started to peel then heal a bit. But now I'm developing another blister in the same spot but smaller & this one really hurts it feels like I got a rock in my foot. I have padded socks I tie my shoes tight enough. Idk what todo.
Depends where it is Penguine. But yes, you have to take away the blister-causing forces, otherwise it will continue and possibly worsen. That doesn't mean you can't walk though. Read this: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-treatment-example/ Use the search bar to search your blister location (eg: back of heel blister; arch blister...) for the best advice on how to do this properly. www.blister-prevention.com/
I spilled hot water on my foot one week ago. It immediately turned into a huge blister on my toe and I tried really hard not to pop the blister, but it was too uncomfortable and got bigger and bigger every day. So after 5 days, I finally drained it with a sterilized needle and put some antibiotic ointment and covered it up with a bandage. Now after two days, I feel numbness around my toes and just noticed I have some inflation on the sole of my foot. Don't know how long it has been swollen, but it has made walking difficult for me. It sounds really pathetic that just some boiling water can do so much damage, and I feel stupid to tell anyone I'm limping. Can it be infected? Any advice would be appreciated since I'm still struggling with the healing process. Thanks
Hi Zahra. A burn that causes a blister is a second degree burn. You should see a doctor for the best advice, and do it soon as your blister / inflammation sounds like it's getting worse rather than better. I give advice on friction blisters only.
I got a blister about 3 weeks ago, and it was completely deroofed. I did everything in the video and used a hydrocolloid bandage which helped it heel. The blister has formed new skin and I feel perfectly fine, however it’s been at this stage for about a week. I’m wondering what can I do for the blister to actually fully heal. When I look at my foot i notice this light pink circle where the blister was at which makes me think it’s not fully healed despite there being new skin covering it
@@Blister-Prevention Got it! Thank you, that was actually very helpful. Unfortunately, even if my blisters new skin isn’t at its strongest I will have to be hiking in it, as it’s part of my occupation. I’m using bandages and Leuko tape as a preventative measure so that i don’t get another blister at the same spot
That's the idea @@angelmoo7502. You have to negate the blister-causing forces, otherwise the blister will recur. Search your blister location on www.blister-prevention.com to find my recommendations on the most effective strategies for each part of your foot :)
@@Blister-Prevention thanks again! The unique thing about my blister is that it’s on the top edge of the ball of my foot. Most of the blisters described in the website occur on the bottom where the foot contacts the insole. My blister was cause by contact directly with the inside of my leather boots. Is it possible to stick the engo bandages to the leather boot interior itself rather than insole?
I have a tiny blister the side of your pinky finger nail, I’ve put a round kind of tissue thing on it with a bandage for the night, what should I do for it?

So I play football and ware cleats and move slot I’ve had blisters on my two big toes and they have been there for almost 8ish years and it keeps opening
Please my blisters hurt so much yesterday going outside for a normal walking I wore a pair of sock plus when I'm sweating my foot kind a itchy so I scratched it plus no blister. Today when I wear a slippers and the top of the straps hurt my upper left foot
So what do you do if you have the roof and it isn’t cut open, do you just leave it there and will it eventually go away? Or do you have to do something for the blister roof so it can go away
That's called an INTACT blister. You protect it with an island dressing (ie: bandaid) and reduce pressure and friction levels. The aim is to stop the blister causing forces and allow the blister fluid to reabsorb so that roof sticks back down. If you're tempted to pop it, read/watch this first: www.blister-prevention.com/should-you-pop-a-blister/
I have a blister on my pinky toe. I looked up what to do for it (it’s closed roof) google says that if it’s painful, to prick it with a clean needle in the edges and drain it. Is that a safe thing to do? Or do I just leave it alone?

what about white "blisters" that are from poor circulation leading to cold spells and hot spells... is it still called a blister if it came from a hot swollen foot and not from friction?
hey, i have a deroofed blister and its dried out... i dont know what to do now, its from wearing dr. martens. i dont know if i need to put a bandade on it or not HELP ME PLEASE.
Deroofed blisters that are dry DO NOT want a hydrocolloid on them. Just an island dressing (eg: bandaid) for a bit of protection if you feel the skin needs it.
My deroofed blister been having a scab for 5 days and it doesn’t seem to heal at all..and I also get occasional discharges form the blister.. I dont understand whats happening.. Fiy I didn’t use any dressing for my blister.. Could please tell me how long does a blister actually take to heal?
Firstly, read this about how long it takes for blisters to heal www.blister-prevention.com/blister-healing-time/ The reason it's weeping from underneath the scab is that a scab isn't healed skin - it's just dried goop from your blister that has crusted over. Your raw blister base is still unhealed under your scab. And the scab is brittle and scratchy and delaying healing. I'd keep an island dressing over it (bandaid), just to protect it and moisten that scab up (yes, it's a good thing to do, even if you think it isn't). And most importantly, nullify the blister-causing forces. To do the latter, go to this page www.blister-prevention.com/blog/ and use the search function in hte sidebar to search for your blister location and I'll show you the best prevention strategies - that nullify those blister-causing forces. hope this helps. ~ Rebecca

I have a torn roof in my bigtoe from playing sports today barefoot. And I again have a match in 2 days that I have to play barefoot. What can I do to heal it quickly? Or how can I cover it to make it hurt less? I really have to attend this match
Torn roof = antiseptic and island dressing. I'm not sure where it is on your big toe, so use this as a starting point to figure out how to nullify the blister-causing forces: www.blister-prevention.com/toe-blister-treatment-prevention/
I got a tiny one on finger middle and I move boxes that weigh 300+ with a hand truck and I can’t use full grip because I feel like my skin is getting ripped off
You don't want a scab. A scab isn't healed skin, it's just dried goo from your blister. It's brittle and easily dislodged, leaving you with your raw blister base again. This was explained in the video. I'll let you weight it all up and make your own decision. Also, replying here for the same question you asked on another video.
@@Blister-Prevention ive been putting a plaster over the deroofed blister and it seems like therr isnt a scab but rather skin thats developing on top of the flesh , or is it something else
@@xuanda_- Sounds like your blister is healing nicely. It takes about 6 weeks for the damaged skin to move to the surface before finally being fully shed. But it is healed well before this time, albeit not full thickness. Read this: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-healing-time/

If it's dry (no longer weepy), use an island dressing instead of a hydrocolloid Jesse :)
Oh, and hydrogen peroxide is not a great antiseptic. It will put on quite a show and look quite impressive with all the bubbles, but povidone iodine (eg: Betadine) is better.

Hi I have a deroofed blister and it’s big on my ankle very red should I let the air get to it or clean it put neosporin on it and cover it with a bandaid at all times?
Hi Richie. I cover that very topic here: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-be-exposed-to-the-air/
I don't own any shoes or socks, and I've got a blister due to the rapid change of weather. I've just got home, and it's wet outside. I've been home for about an hour, and my blisters are huge.
I got a blister bubble on both my pinkies and I just learned NOT to pop it. I did not know it was made of 90% water that’s crazy

I hope this heals quickly 😢
how long did it take to heal
What about friction blisters? No fluid, about the size of a quarter, roof barley hanging on and located on the ball of the foot 😵💫
I should mention that the gauze pad was clean, no fluid was on it. So did the blister immediately patch the holes i made? I'm not leaking at all
Hey John, thanks for the very good question. It is surprising how the skin can reseal after you've put holes in it. Even with a scalpel (that's what I use) they can seal over within half a day and start refilling again. So the lancing procedure needs to be done again.
It sounds like you've done a great job with your lancing and infection control procedure. Just for reference, here's my blog post on the matter: www.blister-prevention.com/should-you-pop-a-blister/
The only thing you may not have thought of is the necessity of taking away all the blister-causing forces, so the skin stops being subjected to the damage and so blister fluid will stop being produced. I suspect your blister is under the ball of your foot, so here's how to maximise that: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-on-bottom-of-foot/
I got some new shoes I developed blisters in the middle of my foot under my middle toes. It started to peel then heal a bit. :( it’s on my feet (one on each foot), the roof is still intact, but should I not walk? Will walking deroof the blister??
Depends where it is Penguine. But yes, you have to take away the blister-causing forces, otherwise it will continue and possibly worsen. That doesn't mean you can't walk though. Read this: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-treatment-example/

My deroofed blister been having a scab for 5 days and it doesn’t seem to heal at all..and I also get occasional discharges form the blister..
I dont understand whats happening..
Fiy I didn’t use any dressing for my blister..
Could please tell me how long does a blister actually take to heal?
Firstly, read this about how long it takes for blisters to heal www.blister-prevention.com/blister-healing-time/
The reason it's weeping from underneath the scab is that a scab isn't healed skin - it's just dried goop from your blister that has crusted over.
