A Close Call Hauling Firewood Logs!

- I'm in need of some logs to make firewood so I got the Ford L9000 tri-axle and the F-750 single axle dump trucks and we headed out to haul a big load of logs home. I almost got rolled over in the process.

My name suggestion comes with a bonus. I think you should name truck #2 Dewey. Then you almost HAVE to buy a third truck, so you can have Huey, Dewey, and Louie!!! 😊
Oh man! You may be a winner!!! I need a single, tandem and tri-axle! 😋
He has the blue
I’m sure he has a family pickup for the third name in the series... until another larger variation is needed and acquired. Or Blue Mama, Red Papa, and family Baby.
@@digdrivediywhat about Huey, Bluey & Louie?
my name suggestion is finnley
Another great video. Happy that you made it to Christmas dinner. Remember, nothing more important than family. Looking forward to the next one!
Drones are the greatest thing. Really makes your video shine! Love your videos really makes my week
I’ve moved heavy equipment for 45 years love the old John Deere 892s don’t see them anymore what a machine in their time
I hope you get another video with a million views watching the processor work. That last video was how I found your channel, now I watch every video. Thanks for bringing us along!!
I agree that Hewey, Louie and Dewey would make a great trio. In the interim just refer to it as the little blue beast.
It's nice that you are so thoughtful to wait for frozen ground so you don't make a mess of the road. Quality guy right there.
Dear Neil, just wanted to say thank you for your fantastic videos. I found your channel during the pond project and have since watched most everything. My boys (4 and 2) love the videos (especially "the well" and "the soccer ball") and ask me to recite your video sign off all the time. And for me, a white collar suburbanite, your videos inspire me to lean into my pioneer heritage and DIY more. And they stoke my dreams of having a reason to own a chainsaw. Thank you. David
Again an awesome video. Keep narrating!!!
So close glad it missed u just shows how dangerous some of what we call every day activities can be best for the new year 👍
Well Neil not bad now you just have to be rocking and rolling so that you’re ready for next year 😮😊❤
Like the video Neil .It was a good one .
can't wait for the wood processor video got my popcorn ready to go! Thanks Neil for this awesome video ...
Hey Neil, you should paint the 750 blue and call it Bluey (Louie & Bluey!)
Lovin’ your work my friend
I love the name idea. Not sure about blue though 🤷♂️
Enjoyed the video as always!
I like "Sven" for the F750
I was so nervous about the “close call” the entire video. Captain Kleeman has a buddy that was just life flighted to the hospital due to a logging incident. Happy you’re safe and that log didn’t take you out.
The 750 really works well with the grapple 👍😊
Close but no cigar!! Careful Neil🥴👍🇺🇸
Neil, I didn’t realize until recently that we live so close to each other! That’s awesome.
The F700 reminds me of a Bob, nothing flashy, but always ready to help, and get the job done!
Another great video Niel! Thank you. 👍 My suggestion for the truck name would be Sapphire.
Great drone shots. Lots of work to get ready to go but worth it.
Thanks for sharing your family’s big Christmas meal. My Mom (passed) was known for clearing out our double car garage and organizing and cooking up many group meals through out the years. She had 5 brothers she was the only daughter. She grew up helping her Mom feeding large groups of mainly men and their appetites. When all families bring a dish it’s really nice memory.
Cleanup- not so much.
Happy New Year to your family!🚚🎉
Thank you for sharing , always a pleasure watch your project 👍👍👍👍
Dewey gets my vote. Nice to see the logs being used for a purpose rather just a huge burn pile, and as long as a person has use of equipment and people to help, sounds like a processing party to me, sort of like the ole time threshing crews.thanks for the video young man.
I appreciate it Terry!
this comment just screamAndrew Camarata at me with his burn piles
Another excellent video
I think I would have put the hook on the outside of the tailgate so it was clear for tipping and useful for a tie down point for tarps or lashing loads etc. 🏴
That's a good idea!
Having the hook on the inside means the bottom of the tailgate will tip toward the truck slightly while hanging. This allows the pins at the bottom to engage with the latches which will make putting the tailgate on easier.
Dip the galvanized hook in HCL pool chemical acid and get a clean hook...just a thought.....Love your attitude and work ethic!
I seen the saw sitting on the floor in the shop... I said don't forget the SAW! 😂
A good start to the new year with the fire wood, i like one of your other subscribers comments - Bluey
In my prime I once backed in a U-Haul trailer 100 feet, couldn’t imagine doing that with your equipment. Very nice!
Videos like this make me think of all the time you spend setting up and "filming" between multiple cameras and a drone shots, not to mention the time to edit.
Very true! It adds a bit of time to the project at hand!
Nice work! Great way to be efficient!
Merry Christmas and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year
Im ready for the next video already!!! I cant wait to see that processor work! Ive been keeping all of my logs for this same reason! I have access to a dyna processor 1hr from me! I believe ill rent it for the weekend and have a splitting frenzy!
I haul all my wood home in log form just like that. Seems to make things easier. Great job Neil! Ill see ya next weekend !
Great start to 2024.
Very cool video. Please stay safe. Looking forward to some processing 🧬🦾🪓
That was some really impressive backing up with a trailer. I've seen supposedly pro CDL guys do much, much worse. The close call almost made me jump when it whizzed by the camera, I can't imagine actually being there.
1:21 I think Frank is a good name.
Frank & Louie sounds like a good team of hard workers.
"Hey! Who's gonna move all that SHTUFF!!??"
(Answer) "HEY!, Call Frank & Louie, they can do anything!"
Slick, due to shape of cab. Thanks.
My name suggestion for the F750 is Larry. So you got Louie and Larry the dump truck brothers.
You should build a barn door gate.
I did that for my 88' I.H.single Axel dump...worked great for hauling logs
Looks like you’re going to be having some fun soon! Be safe my friend
Hope so. But this darn snow is gonna make it messy! :)
The only guy I know that admits a mistake by showing it uncut. I forgot the chainsaw- something I have done myself. If it wasn’t a chainsaw it was something very important to my project. That’s what makes your channel a cut above others.
Good job guys
I say name the F750 Henry, like Henry Ford🤷🏼♂️ Always love a good firewood video Neil! Great work!
Also just a suggestion for chaining down that excavator: at work we load our excavator the same way, blade towards the trailer tongue. what we do is put chain through those holes on either side of the blade, hook it to the front of trailer and drive the excavator towards the rear of the trailer, creating tension. Then chains and binders hooked to the back of the trailer. Just a suggestion, saves on binders in a pinch!
Just a tip for chain down the excavator put a long chain across the blade then hook into D rings on each side then back the excavator up until the chain is tight
Definitely Dewey❤ f750
Excited to see you and your family use a processor again, it was one of the first videos I saw from you! :)
To busy playing with the big toys you forgot the little toys 😂😂
Frank the F750 Tank 👍🏼
It’s been a tough year to get work done here in Michigan with all of the mud! Hoping for some frozen ground soon. We tore up the yard pretty good the other day moving our new Dyna. Being a content creator I feel like I almost always forget something when I go somewhere to film. Glad you weren’t taken out by the runaway round!
Felix that would be a good name!!
Love the videos. You’re a good guy.
I like Duey for the truck name, then once you get Huey you’ll have all your Ducks in a Row, so you’d be able to tick that box off. That load of wood looks like a lot of work but a fun group effort with many group stories to Harvest. Nice to see such a large group gathering for a Christmas Dinner that’s a gift in itself. I will be looking forward to the proceedings episodes, the weather might be a bit chilly but I’m betting no one will feel it. Did you get any “That’s a Great Idea” Christmas Gifts? 😀👍👍👍
Great to have all your wood. We use to do our own wood processing too. I miss it.
I don’t know why but the first name pops in my head is Eeyore from winnie the pooh. My cousin does landscaping, at times he has to load by himself and can’t see over the side like you. He built built a pole with a slight convex mirror so he could see into the bed. Attaches to side of truck by magnets. When traveling he stores the mirror on the floor of passenger side and pops the pole off and reattaches even at the top. Used outdoor acrylic mirrors are like 50 bucks.
Imagine watching your Christmas dinner with family. . . . that was quite a crowd. Happy New Year from Calgary, Alberta where winter finally arrived last night. You would have no problem with soft roads around here. 😊
The girls must love that the bus comes right up to the front step 😂
Good job
You tease...When titled 'A close call' I figured the dump rolled over...lol...I'm such a gladiator...
Great video. Happy new year! I really enjoy your content!! Watch out for those rogue logs!!
You can name that truck. "I wish it were mine!"
Good morning. Keep up the good work.
Good morning! Thanks 👍🏻
I love your channel and look forward to watching it each Sunday. It’s a lot of work to make videos and you do a good job with some help.
What cameras do you like the best.
My kids suggested Bruce for the F750 💪🏼
Good Stuff! Wood processing videos get lots of views, might have to stretch it into 3-4 and get some mid-week drops out of it.
@Neil - The ASCII string "F750" looks a bit like "FRED" if you squint, from a distance, ...a great distance. So "FRED"... 🙂
You should be loading the excavator on the trailer with your drive sprockets facing the back of the truck and the blade facing the ramps and also use the bucket to guide your desent off the trailer..will.prolong the life of your tracks and chains and also keep you from sliding off the sides if the tracks are muddy or the deck is slippery.
Been loading and unloading tracked equipment for over 45 years... each time is an adventure.
Stay safe out there and really enjoy your channel !
😂😂😂😂
Awesome - Wonderfully satisfying watching heavy equipment in use for a family farm! My name suggestion is "DeeDee", relating to Dig Drive DIY. I realize the suggestion is just two D's, but being a common nickname for girls, thought your daughters and wife could relate, especially since all the other equipment names are masculine! Happy new year and looking forward to upcoming firewood processing.
Lil Blue and Ol Blue seem too obvious and easy😄👍
When that round nearly took you out, in the back of my mind I could hear your Dad saying "Holy Schnikey!" Great video Neil. Happy new year.
I wish I had a different camera angle of it. It was close! Happy New Year!
hi there good haul john
Great video. Hopefully the processor cooperates with you this time. I do second all of the votes for Duey for the 750.
Your reversing skills are fantastic I struggle with my 22 foot caravan 😂 happy new year to everyone to 👍👍😎😎
good work , so much wood to burn
Clark Griswold forgot his saw too.
I enjoy how efficient you are doing each project, and how clean you always leave things as well.,.. you literally have every tool needed to get things done..... I wonder if you have your own gas station at your house? I'm glad to see new content!
I do have my own gas and fuel barrels!
750 = True Blue. (He’s never let you down).
You can try Henry for the 750 after Henry Ford. Great video, Happy New Year
Merry Christmas and happy new year
Good load of wood Neil, Nice FW processor in the lane way.
Thanks 👍
A set of forks would be the best for taking off the tailgates, IMO
Good Sunday morning
Morning Terrance!
"Everything is fine, tell it's not"
Hi Neil, I like watching your videos especially the wood cutting ones since that’s what I do with my dad. Also knowing that we live in the same state!
Name ideas for the F750 is snowman or old faithful.
Ugh. Early morning chores seems to always include forgetting something(s). Really impressive backing!
So true!
Buddy, if you saw how many trips I make each project for….forgotten tools….you would feel much better about forgetting one!🤷🏻♂️🤣💪🇺🇸
Proper job 👌🏻👍💯🏴☠️🇬🇧🏴☠️🇬🇧🏴☠️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Name suggestion - what about ‘The Duke’?
Happy new year. Great video. For the next part. Wishing you the Easton Made wood 🪵 processor. Eric from Quebec Canada 🇨🇦 ✨🇨🇦🪵👋🏼
Happy New Year!
Call it the “Spruce Goose”. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I like the name Frank for the F-750
Ranger! …for the name of the truck!
Neil, every week I look forward to sunday morning to get to watch your video. Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites. If you read this, while watching this video I got curious about how much you pay on insurance for the tri-axle and the 750. A single axle would make sense to me but the insurance for even a smaller dumptruck like that puts it out of reach for me. Is there any tricks you have to not pay outrageous insurance on "comerical" sized vehicles?
I really appreciate you watching and the kind words.
For insurance on the dump trucks I have always used Progressive. I use the same Agency that insures everything else for us including home/property, etc. I only use the trucks for personal use, making videos, hauling wood, etc. They treat me right because they know that and because I only drive less than a certain number of miles per year. I have Farm plates on the big truck because it is only used in that capacity. It matters a great deal what you intend to do with the truck and you have an agent that is willing to write the policy as such. It only works if you're honest in what you're doing with it though too. It's relatively affordable that way.
The second truck should be named Bluey.. It's sort of blue 😅. Louie and Bluey.
Gotta be on your toes for those runaways !!!
No doubt!
Old Blue 👍
I want to know who shot the drone footage when both trucks were heading to the Christmas party? Great drone footage. The 750 should just be called the "750" that's what I've been used to. See ya on the next one neighbor!🤠
wow that was a big load for the little girl
Wood Bee (slang for Carpenter Bee) = the name I would use. Its like the shape of one and is used to constantly haul wood!
