This was a super informative video, and I think it was just what i needed to see to get me to go ahead and purchase a slider to elevate my work! Great work as always Ben !!
Ben, great channel, great vibe! I'm a real estate photographer and looking to upgrade my motion control gear, the Zeapon here looks promising. I have invested some in Edelkron, so jumping ship would be a big change. The tripod support legs are a clever idea, have you thought about sand bagging the tripod to mitigate the tilt over issues? Stability issues would be an instant show stopper for me, I have dropped a camera or two, wasn't pretty.
Thanks man, yeah I have considered sand bags. That is a great idea! The only reason i avoid it personally is just the portability. I’ll be honest after I got that new heavy duty carbon fiber tripod with the thicker legs I have had way less issues with the slider falling over!
Hi Ben. I have a small budget on getting a slider and pan/tilt, so I was wondering if you would be open to reviewing their Micro 3 system as well? I know the Axis is newer, and I have seen reviews of each system, but there doesn't appear to be a comparison between them based on speed and noise, which is making a definitive choice difficult.
great video m8, super helpful. keep going back and forth between the micro3 and Axis, both seem pretty capable! have seen mixed reviews on these units in regard to jitters/wobbles, seems like anything beyond 55-60mm can create some variables and make it tricky to get *consistently good/stable footage. after using it for a few months, what your take on best way to avoid/minimize this? also curious how much stab work is on the example shots you got here, most of them SOOC or they have quite a bit of work trying to smooth them out? thanks dude, just subbed, cool channel 🤙
Hey! Thanks for watching! So to be honest, the amount of jitters/wobbles was pretty minimal! All of the example footage has no post stabilization! It’s all in camera! I’ve noticed the best way to get smooth footage is to make sure that your base is as stable as you can get it! I personally use a heavy duty tripod and a very strong video tripod head!
@@BenGleasonMedia damn that's pretty impressive if everything here is SOOC. was a little nervous about getting this, for main application will be 85 1.2 for B or C cam, but feeling more confident about this purchase now. thanks Ben, super-helpful
Thank you for introducing so much details about this slider!! I really get nervous to get my first slider. I've seen you made a lot of close shots by using this slider, do you think it's stable enough for it? Or do you need to make many adjustments to stablize it in the progress of video editing?
Hey! Thanks for watching. Every once in a while I would need to throw a small amount of stabilization on in editing, but this was very rare. Of all the sliders that I have used (Edelkrone, Ifootage, Rhino) This one is the best when it comes to "micro jitters" as long as you set it up properly. My recommendation would be to get a sturdy tripod, the one in my description is a great option, and make sure to use the support arms provided with the slider. This is where I was able to get the most stable results even with a heavy camera rig and close up shots! Hopefully that helps 😄
Getting a lot of shake on a lot of my footages (about half or even often) with Zeapon Axis and A7c2. Any idea why this is so and how it can be improved? The shake is noticeable, not always it can even be corrected by stabilisation in software.
I have run into that issue a couple of times. One reason is because the two stands that I had it on weren’t balanced correctly. Once I switched to the heavy duty tripod i mentioned, it really took away that issue. The other time I had some jitter or shake is when I was using the tilt head attachment and hadn’t balanced my camera properly on it. Just like a gimbal, you do need to balance and level that tilt head to get the smoothest footage. Kind of frustrating, but can be fixed.
lot of the specs are the same, but pretty def some meaningful differences between these two sliders Micro3 a bit more portable & utilizes a clever sliding mechanism to keep it small. Axis is traditional slider, and is more recent release of theirs. Couple differences would be the base model Axis comes with pan motor (micro3 requires addl PT head for these addl movements); another difference is the Axis has screen display on unit for info/commands/control, whereas Micro3 only has buttons and must use app for it's advanced controls. both have approx same payload control, and both can be used manually (without motor) with dampening control. another way to look at it: for 40" of slider travel, the Micro3 has ~24" footprint to accomplish this, whereas the same amount of travel with the Axis requires 47" footprint, make sense?
Any issues with connectivity for longer timelapses? I am in the Edelkrone system currently and the biggest downside is connection drops. The slider will keep going through the end of the move, but the Pan/Tilt heads just dead stop and it jacks the whole timelapse up.
quick question: @11:10, is there a reason you cannot use the arca-swiss that's native to smallrig cage? seems excessive to have to mount an arca plate to an arca cage 🤔
@@BenGleasonMedia ah bummer! thanks for the heads-up tho. have seen this before with smallrig arca on cage, where it doesn't fit other proper arca receiving mounts. certainly creates a facepalm moment 🤦♂ be curious if the Zeapon arca fits some of your other arca mounts/heads. I'm one of these shooters that's spent far too much time/money making sure everything is quick-disconnect across all platforms, prob need to see a doctor about this compulsion 🙃
Hey man! With the specific length that I have, you will see the end of the track at wider lengths unfortunately. That’s why I recommend the 80cm to minimize that issue.
Is there actually a problem with repeating shots with 100% accuracy? Wanted to get it mainly for that reason but now I’m not so sure, can anyone confirm? And if so does anyone know of a slider that does that flawlessly and for under $1,5k, possibly around 100cm?
It’s surprisingly quiet on the lower settings! I don’t think you would have any issues with sound. But if you have it at 80-100% speed then you may hear a humming sound that is noticeable
@@BenGleasonMedia Is the noise an even, single tone at the lower speeds? I bought the Micro3 and loved the design but when I went off the preset speeds (like if I set it to 34%) the motor noise became a pulsing tone, and to the degree that made it unusable for interviews so I returned it. Also at lower speeds, at the ends of the A and B points, is the motor ramping down and back up noticeable in the motor noise?
Its depend what speed you use. In about half of maximum speed its have noticeable "electric beep" sound. When its max speed or slow speed its more quitter if im remember correct.
Do you have LEGO train? Use it and create a one. It is possible and is fun building it. I did and was fun. Now need to see to build now for my new camera 📸

In my opinion it is better! But like mentioned, a lot of the specs are similar
for $1k it better be damn near perfect

Sadly the arca cage doesn’t fit the arca mount on the pan and tilt module. That’s why you have to use there attachment.

Hey mate, just curious what the view is like for push in shots? Do you have to be super tight to keep the slider out of frame?
Thanks 🙏

Can it be set to loop, reverse a move and just autonomously keep moving forever?
yep it can run in a loop ;)

Great helpful video bro investing
Is there a way it can slide automatically following the subject in the video?
There is not unfortunately :/
Hi, how much noise does the slider make? Is it safe to use for a B Cam on this slider for interviews?

What's the name of this lens? Must have
The one on the slider? That is the Sirui 35mm f1.8 Anamorphic Lens for Sony
How's the sound from the slider?

I second what @djunn said. It does have some noise at the higher speeds, but 75% or less tends to be much quieter if not even noticeable
Yea, yea, yea....can we talk about the orange Gretsch? lol
😂 that Orange Gretsch actually has an AWESOME backstory! Maybe I’ll tell it in a studio tour…👀
лучше скажи как тебе винил на клипш звучат?
You shouldnt mount it on a head, instead screw it directly on the tripod. Then it shouldnt bend :)
Hmmm not a bad idea 👌
