Beautifully simple idea and gift, great work. just a thought if you have an old oven roasting tray it could be used for applying the danish oil to cut back on wastage and also to allow better soakage for the endgrain. Merry Christmas
Nice wee project. Yer off cuts are my Prime Project Wood! The pallet wood I have has some different colours in them... Take care & stay safe John.
Hi John, I love these - I am based in Ireland and I wanted to ask where you purchase your hardwood as I am struggling to find somewhere? Thanks!
Lovely little project, which you would pay good money for in the High Street. Probably would have chamfered on the router table as a bit safer but as you say your choice.
Hi John sir does your mitre saw have double bevel and depth stop plz if so could I ask model number plz
Fab John!!! I'm wondering who's getting them :)
Great video. Thanks.
Beautiful pieces,
Happy Christmas and looking forward to your 2023 presentations.
Great Video! I love simple projects, and I am trying this one myself.
Also as a future video idea, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the BMW R1200GS shown in the background and how you have it set up. I realize it is not the subject of your channel, but you have the gift of presenting any content and making it interesting. I ride a 2017 Honda Africa Twin.
Thanks for the great content!
beautiful!! happy new year, looking forward to watching your videos next year
Great idea John!! Thanks for showing that! Made them (the same amount too) as christmas' gifts exactly like you showed us. Not sure how you managed to do that all in one hour. It took me 3-4 hours (apart from glue drying). Came out great though!! Cheers mate!!
Great idea, forgives all year round really. And I reckon this blind man can make them too.. So good I wish you John and all your family a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Thanks for all your great content hopefully a bit more in the New Year😜
Very nice man! How do you orbital sand small itms like that though. Do you trap them between some thinner pieces of wood to stop them from moving?
👍🎅🏻🎅🏻👍
wat's up with the whisky in the workshop?
I have a Whiskey channel. Although I don't get to make many videos on it
Very nice have a great Christmas and new year
Thank you! You too!
Brilliant idea! Thanks for all your videos this year. I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas 🎄

Now I've been nominated to make a couple dozen
🤣
Lovely idea. Thanks for all the fab videos over the year and hope that you have a smashing Christmas.
Cheers Neil, you too!
Nice video, just finished up some earlier this week myself.
Nice 👍
They look really lovely. Merry Christmas to you and your family John.
Same to you!
When I wanted to chamfer a 6"x6" lamp base, I used my benchtop surface planer, with the fence set to 45º. I felt that, for me, this was less risky than cutting the chamfer on a table-saw.
I'm not criticising your method.
We are all responsible for our personal safety and have to make our own decisions.
I would have used the planer but breakout is a real possibility when planing end grain
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Very true. That's why I took small passes and planed the end grain first
Really beautiful work, John! Fantastic work! 😃
Thanks a bunch for the idea!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And merry Christmas!
Happy Christmas
Excellent idea for using up some wood scraps. Just need to burn your makers mark into them now.
Very Cool Idea!! Thanks.. Have a great Holiday Season!!
I think you're selling yourself short here - these are really very nice. It doesn't matter that they are relatively quick and easy to make, they HAVE been made by hand and will make a great gift for anyone. Most people simply click their mouse and input numbers when it comes to giving a gift, this is so much better. Excellent.
Glad you like them!
Look great, great idea, thanks
Beautiful project John, keep up the great work. Merry Christmas to you and the family from New Zealand!

Cheers Christy

Great idea, have a great Christmas.

Look a bit thick and too small. Most coasters are 100mm square - five of your strips.
Nice one, Merry Christmas John!
