  • We honor the memory and bravery of Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Nathan H. Hardy, Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Michael E. Koch, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician 1st Class Luis A. Souffront. These three brave men sacrificed their lives in service of their country and all of us who remain. They will not be forgotten.
We remember the courage and valor of these three warriors and their commitment to duty and the principles of freedom and justice. They were examples of the highest ideals of selfless service, and we honor their memory.
May their courage and bravery be remembered for generations to come. May their legacy live on in our hearts and minds forever.

One question I find interesting is how has the Top Tier community evolved/changed over the years? Is it just new toys/gadgets, and more support (logistics and intelligence), or has the training actually gotten better?
I was watching a RUclips video years ago on the newer Marine program MARSOC. It had some old school Marine Raiders from WWII checking out their training and giving impressions on what the old school thought of the new school inspired by the path they had blazed all those years ago. These guys were blown away at what kinds of capabilities the new program had. But the new guys were in turn in awe at just how much the older guys were able to accomplish with so much less.
I think an interview with some old school guys (Like maybe Larry Vickers or something) might be interesting. Talk about how things have changed/gotten better or worse. It would be an interesting conversation I think.

      Shawn,
I'm an old timer VN era SEAL. Class 45. Did 3 tours, 1 with UDT-13 as sub-ops OIC and 2 tours with ST-1 as OIC of direct-action platoons. I appreciate your interviews with these younger versions of what my men and I did. Some of my platoon mates were Barry Enoch and Mike Thornton, but All of the guys were "outstanding". Keep up the good work, mate!
As an old man (78) I think it's better to talk about the actions that occurred rather than stuffing it away and letting it fester.
A number of folks commented about your interview style of allowing folks to talk and sometimes ramble, without interrupting or interjecting. I agree it is effective.
Take care. I'm glad you returned home safe and have a wife and family to care for and nurture. Be well.
      Tom Boyhan USNA 66, BUD/S 45, UDT-13 & ST-1

How can the USA ever repay you. Most people, especially politicians don’t deserve to be in your presence. My father a WW2 veteran passed at an old age and was buried at Ft. Sam National Cemetery and I went to see his stone a few weeks later and a strange thing happened. I don’t listen to country radio, but by chance the song “Waltz Across Texas” started playing right when I entered the cemetery. This was my wedding song, which he played on his violin. I believe his soul was there, sending me a message. I will find out, as we all will.

Shawn buddy You should absolutely Write a Book because it would blow up to the Top. I have bought The Book No Ordinary Dog, that Book is Legit as well. I literally have a library where I read at night when my mind is all over the place. Even though I wasn’t in the Military I did I Fire Department Career for 23 years so when I get to feeling messed up I read one of the many books I have bought on the operators, a few CIA Books like Americas Secret War One of our Preacher was there as a Operator back during the Real Deal Jungle Warfare that was going on with The CIA a few Countries the American didn’t even know actually Nobody Knew, kinda of like Ukraine Right Now If American people don’t they are blind, but most don’t have clue on what and how we stay The Largest and Only True Super Power because like Ukraine. We did it in Afghanistan back when the CIA was Funning Weapons to help kill the Russians back then Hence Charlie Wilson War. The only thing that is pissing me off now these Demorats have given them 8.6 BILLION Dollars for Air to Ukraine to the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with NO Congressional Oversight What so Ever, There Is No Question The Their Government like the Russian Government is All Crooks so Now what’s going to happen Zelenskyy will Disappear one day with most of the American Military Aid Money. We can debate What The Russians even Invaded Ukraine in the First Place. But for this Administration To Right a Check Our Ass Can’t Cash Without Out Any Oversight is absolutely Mind Boggling. Every Needs to Watch The Pod Cast from Mike Glover with the CEO of Mighty Oak Foundation that is the Most Eye Opening Case of Involvement By American in Ukraine. They Both Have a Books Out. When I looked back up the guy controlling the instersection was waving me on and he waved me right into the path of an oncoming car. I kick my self for not listening. Great, great clip, Shawn! Eddie is an amazing guy, with an ability to really, really put you in the moment. Thank you, Eddie Penney! The part about feeling for Luis's leg under the rubble reminded me of a post fight conversation I was part of after the initial Just Cause strike in 1989. We had shot several 105mm rounds at these guys and our rounds had impacted some distance away, but, the PDF guys all just laid down? We asked one of the Delta guys or Rangers that was there about whether they had been KIA'd or wounded. He replied, 'Those guys were like bags of jello...'

I felt this. Talking about trauma and remembering every explicit detail, smell, sense of the event and not being able to put it with the rest of my memories.. it's like a pure, crystalline moment stuck in time. What we expect of our warriors compared to how we treat them afterwards is heartbreaking.

Thank you some much for reliving your experience as I can see how painful it was for you. Hopefully you get some kind of relief from talking through it. God bless you and all you team. Thank you for your service as nothing can repay your sacrifice you and others have for freedom.

I come from a military family but have only ever done the army cadets as a teenager. I often wonder how I would cope in extreme danger. Been in many uncomfortable a scary situations and I know full well that talk is cheap. When the crap hits the fan it's every man for himself. Courage can't be born in to someone or can be learnt. True warriors that the world needs to thank and respect. I use to watch a family member run 12 miles to and from before going to work every morning. He was a machine our lean mean fighting machine. Thankfully he returned each time from tours fully intact. Like you guys part of small heavily armed units. I guess I'll leave it there. Thank you all for you service those still in the fight and those now resting. I know some tough lads that I've seen on the streets in action. Something told me that I wouldn't come home had I joined or half of me wouldn't. That's my excuse anyway. Respect to you all 🙏🥲👍

      So true
Mentally that's where the struggle is
I've met a few of them in my country at work
But they are so quiet and don't talk much
If you ask a question they answer is straight forward and no smiles either
I've notice they scope the area and stand in a particular direction with their sun glasses on
But it's hard , this kind of work
And one is chosen to do it
Whether they come out alive or dead
      Such is life
God bless the military men and women ✊❤

Jason Workman was 3 years older than me in high school. We were on the football team and he was an elite athlete, even as a teenager. He played all the sports in HS and was an especially gifted athlete. I, on the other hand, was a scrawny awkward kid trying to survive HS football. The remarkable thing is Jason was always nice to me and other little underclass ball players, in practice and at the gym and in the hallways. Later on, after he joined the SEALs, I was glad to hear the stories of his warrior heroics, he was a complete badass for sure-but I’ll remember him also as the nicest guy to everyone. (And his disproportionately small calves ;-) RIP Jason.

Thank God for him and all those who have sacrificed thier lives, thier minds, thier bodies. When he spoke of how those people think, the savage single-minded goal of getting the "infidel", I had the thought of how they said years ago that they were coming to us, by invading us by moving into our homes our governments, our country and others are being quietly invaded. And the extremist hate of all other beliefs is hidden very well. Celebrities are becoming lulled into it, it's huge. God help us all. Powerful interview. Thankyou
