      Shawn. I train and teach Kung Fu San Soo. Do you know about this style of martial arts. I've been training since 1974. Since I was 13 years old I'm 62 now. Any thoughts on the style for combat fighting.

    I credit the Corps for putting me on the right path after losing my mother at 17. I will live the rest of my days knowing that a ton of guys did a ton more and went through a ton worse. At 50 years on this world i have found inspiration in you gentlemen. Thank you and Semper Fidelis.

    I feel the same way my mom went through three bouts 9f cancer in 15 years. The third was her downfall. Thank God for my wife that spent so much time with her taking her to all her appointments. And we were all there when she passed in hospice. Cancer is the worst unfortunately I do not know anyone that has not been effected by cancer. RIP MAMA

These are some of the people who deserve to be paid well, and taken care of. Not having to worry about money and their health is bare minimum for being a human shield for our overlords.

    He definitely made the right decision about staying with his mum. there should be no disrespect for a man who chooses to look after their mother instead of going on a deployment, you only get one mum but you will have plenty of time to get on a mission. always have your family as your priority you never know what can happen and they will always have your back great interview guys thanks for sharing your story 💙

      People can be awkward about mortality just because they don’t know how to face it, and don’t like to think about it. They might have even been in denial, because seeing someone your own age lose a parent implies your own parents are vulnerable. Most people aren’t as sensitive and supportive as they mean to be during such times, and that’s just part of life.

Hearing from them who I look up to and idolize as superhuman and seeing them talk about the very real human emotions they experience is serious. That’s a rock and a hard place. Wow. I don’t think I can ever put into words what it means to me to live in a country where, because of YOU + your men out there sacrificing YOUR LIVES, I can go to sleep safe at night knowing I am protected and safe. I wish I could come and meet every one of you and shake your hand to say “Thank you”. I am so sorry that this happened, I have no idea what it would be like to get that news… but I am sure it was life altering for you. I hope that instead of weighing on your spirit, it eventually lifts you up and gives you renewed hope in what you are doing. Stay safe friend.

    This man should have zero regrets in such a difficult situation. Such a character, elevation, values. Honour to this man. Nothing less. The loss of your brothers had nothing to do with your decision to stay. Your decision to stay was as valid as any other that only you could have taken. No regrets. Hero.

    story hits close to home for me. few years ago i had a similar situation my single mom hitting rock bottom on all levels of life,including dying on cancer.
    it was in a point in life i was making massive steps forward, just bought a house with my fiance, having a blossoming but ultra demanding career switch etc..
    i put my life on hold to help her out and sacrified a lot. standing by the side of my mom till her dying breath costed me my relationship, the house, and the relationship of people close to my heart, but choose to be very selfish and turning their backs on me why i could need them the most in my life

    4:00 and alot of those that gave him the cold shoulder for loving his mom in her final moments are now dead....they didn't understand. The "Brotherhood" takes a back seat to your mom each and everytime. It is strong but it is not stronger than a bond of a son/daughter with their MOTHER. Moms 1 - Brotherhood 0

    The reason your memories are, "a blur," is because, in the face of loss, our minds protect us by Dissociating. This isn't a yes or no thing, but a range of Dissociation, from just a little to nearly complete. (Btw.....Ambien is a drug that causes Dissociation if you don't go to sleep.) Also, Dissociation can occur in the face of injury or accidents, or in the face of violence (especially if you're not used to it as you SOCOM members are.) Talking about what happened is incredibly helpful to reduce PTSD symptoms. It helps the brain heal.

    Freedom comes with a great price. The memory of the willingly sacrifice our armed men and women made to preserve the values we share with other nations;
