    I agree with your brandtianum assessment completely. If I am unsuccessful with a plant I will often give myself another chance with a new plant but I have no desire to try another brandi. It’s definitely a diva.
    Love your potting station!

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  3 года назад

      You get me! Of course it is on us to give it the conditions it needs to thrive, but if I just cannot provide that, or if i don't want to provide that, then i might have to part ways with it 😬. I'm going to try one more time 😅
      BUT I have that thing with maidenhair ferns, I just buy a new one each time i kill the last 😅 I refuse to give up.

    I have it on a piece of wood and it’s growing great, no humidity really. She’s on my window seal and it gets a lot of light and she’s growing large leaves.

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад

      Thank you for all the advice, I will try with a little more light. I have given mine a plank to grab on to, but it unfortunately did not attach to it at all -.- . I might try again with a moss pole. Since my Ph. Melanochrysum seems to enjoy being attached to something too. Maybe it'll help with the shitty growth 😁.
      Greetings from germany & see u in the next one 👋.

    Mine came with a breakage on the lower stem it had 7 beautiful leaves and I had to cut it and propagate it asap. Currently I have the cuttings in moss into a prop.box and 18°C and they rooted within a week!!! They dont like too much humidity, ratings above 80% promote rot in leaves and stems. Hope you have a great success with yours too!!

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  3 года назад +1

      Oh boy that sucks, but at least you will have a bushy plant in the end 😊. That's interesting, so it should be fine in 70% humidity then 🤔. Fortunately mine had no rot issues when it was living in the cloche or in the propbox for that matter. I will have an eye on that, thank you. Do you have any other clue why the leaves would not unfurl properly if it is not humidity ?

    Mine is leggy too. But, I live in CT and so our winters are tough. Even with lights & humidifier. I adore my indoor plants, I also have raised veggie beds outside, so it's a lot of work. I'm definitely trying to stick with less fussy plants now.

      Thanks for sharing, winter is so tough on my plants here in germany as well. Fortunately spring is coming and better days are ahead, at least for our plants 😁. On a positive note though, the cuttings are all doing amazing. 😊🌿
      I'm 100 % with you, why make plantcare unnecessarily hard and frustrating when there are so many low maintenance plants out there. More time for gardening, yay🎉.

    I have a hard time with the humidity also. Seemed it was doing well, bright indirect light and water more than I expected. I had been spraying the new growth so it would open up. I stopped for a couple weeks and now the leaves are coming in all disfigured or dry on one end

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад

      Hey Melissa, Your story hits so close to home. It was the absolute same for me. Once I decided I don't have time to spray it all day, every day it all went down hill. The propagations currently look so good since they live in my propbox. They really need an enclosed environment 😪.

  • @casijopaya
    @casijopaya 2 года назад +1

    I have the same problem. I wanted it to grow up a moospole... yes.... it is next to the humidifier in the kitchen, but thats not enough. Maybe it will do better in my greenhouse, but that also will never have 100% humidity.

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад

      So sorry to hear, you have the same issues! This sucks, but I think with a greenhouse your chances will be good! I know a few people with a ikea greenhouse cabinet that manage to grow a nice Brandi 😊 best of luck with that 🤞🤞 crossing my fingers.

  • @dooham1383

    Humidity helped my brandi sooo much! I noticed you used a wooden stick as a pole. Mine always ends up getting moldy in my tent :( Is there anything I can do to prevent that?

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад +2

      That's great news😊, it's the only thing that helped mine too! Yes, I tend to use whatever I have laying around but the wood molds after a while, so I just change it. If I can I use Bamboo sticks , these don't mold in high humidity! Or something plastic.

      Glad the video was helpful! If not in a greenhouse it would probably be a pain in the butt. If you like the silvery look, maybe try opting for a sodiroi? It seems to be a little less problematic. 😊🌿

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад +1

      I guess 25 $ is a good price for a big one but honestly you propably are right. You'll save yourself some hassle if you skip this one. I don't know how your growing conditions are but most people here seem to have trouble growing those.
      I read somewhere that growing them get's easier once they reach maturity and grow their leaves from a ctaphyll instead of the petiolar sheeth or something, can't really tell if and when this happens 😅.

      Yes, they are -.- just as an update: It hasn't really gotten better since :D:D I have some in a Box, these are doing great. The motherplant is in the little greenhouse & my experience is very mixed.
      Recently someone said they might need a lot more light than we think. Maybe I'll try that for a while too 🙈. Oh and I think a mosspole of some sorts is very beneficial as well.

  • @RhianChambers
    @RhianChambers 2 года назад +1

    I think ull get better more consistent growth if u give it a moss pole, the stick probably isn’t quite substantial enough

    • @LeafyLuster
      @LeafyLuster  2 года назад +1

      You're absolutely right. It's been a while since I gave it a wood plank. It's definetly not working! Mosspoles are definetly way better if you can keep them moist at least. I might try one of these lazy poles. Or maybe a selfwatering perlite pole. My Plastic propbox works well for growing them too! The leaves aren't sizing up though without the pole.
      See u next time & thank you for the advice. 💚

      @@LeafyLuster your welcome 🥰 I found your video Cus I was eagerly awaiting a delivery of my own that day and I had planned to plant it with my silver sword and have them share the moss pole.
      1) I’m cheap
      2) I thought the two plants would compliment eachother
      And I really wanted my brandy to have a moss pole because I gave my silver sword one but almost immediately after I gave my pathetic little silver sword a moss pole it became epic and will not stop growing, even tho I never moisten it! I have spent most of today making my own moss poles out of chopsticks for my juvenile philos Cus every plant I’ve given a pole to since my silver sword, has enjoyed it 🥰 I do water my handmade moss poles tho Cus for some reason they aren’t as hydrophobic as the ones I bought on Amazon, but the ones from Amazon (even tho dry) are my plants faves to grow up. I think it’s the sturdiness (my handmade ones aren’t very sturdy) I think the sturdiness of the big Amazon ones kinda reassures the plant that it’s ok to start growing big, that whatever it is up against can take it’s weight and they jus let loose. I think my own ones I make don’t give the same “reassurance” although they do start growing better it’s not as fast as the ones on the big boy poles
